I don't recall any recent Ultraman shows put their Ultraman really close to their human characters like that final shot; it really feels like Komon could stand up and touch Nexus' foot in a few steps.

The first Ultraman show to have a MC did not become or transform into Ultraman until the finale. Both that and the first OP were great. The original plot (if I recalled it correctly) was that Dark Zagi supposed to be the Dark Ultra that Ren or Nagi will fight as Nexus rival (like Faust, Mephisto and Mephisto Zwei) he wasn't to be the final antagonist. That's why there's a glimpse of him. Foreshadowing.
