I’m learning this from my Dulcimer teacher right now. She’s a little bit different in the arrangement but not by much. I really enjoy the way you show and tell what you’re doing!
Thank you!
@@BrettRidgewaysLearningForLife my pleasure!
I used to have a dulcimer teacher come to my home...not only have I moved but the covid has made it more difficult for teachers... I’m also do crochet work and have been working very hard at it...so your videos are really helpful while I’m trying to relearn the dulcimer
Thanks, I fell in love with the sound of a dulcimer a few weeks back when I went to Mountain View Arkansas. I have always wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument, Lessons like this I believe will help me reach my goal of finally being able to play a musical instrument. Thanks for sharing. stay safe
Glad to help and congratulations on starting this journey!
I like the different strum patterns. Did I miss a learning section between Part one that ends with Part A and Part 2 begins with 'you should know the whole song' without the Part B instruction? I am pretty sure I was able to get it by watching the video - it was just kind of strange.
Scheduleddate to go to Dulcimer Shoppe in Mountain View, Arkansas. Looking at 26" VSL walnut hourglass.
Maybe a Christmas present😊. Thank you,Brett for your instruction and patience. Merry Chritmas
Thank you for sharing this!! It's really helping me to understand how to play better.
Thanks! Enjoyed the lesson! Easy enough for me to catch on quickly & liked the strumming options you taught
Takes me back.
Still trying to get that last strum pattern down, fun lesson.
I liked the way showed first part and memorized that but Then I had a little problem catching the tabs for second part. Can you tell me that??
Very trippy Glad i got one of these for$20 with a case !!! ohhhhh
great lesson! thanks for sharing!
There are lots more in my playlists! Glad you enjoyed it and THANK YOU for commenting!
This is great thanks.
Question? I have a beautiful I just picked up... but don't you use the very piece at the bottom where it can push down and make the sound change vibrations?
I am not sure what piece you are referring to...
What would your recommendation be for a quality dulcimer keeping in mind I'm on a budget?
I would definitely go with McSpadden. If you can’t afford a new one, you can sometimes find them in some of the dulcimer groups, eBay etc. If you need any help please let me know or if you find one I can take a look at it for you even if it’s on eBay or something like that
@@BrettRidgewaysLearningForLife thank you very much. I truly appreciate that.
What about a 1989 M12W Mcspadden? I was looking at one on Reverb.

Great ! Thanks ! Any tab?
the camera angel was better when it was behind you. Now looking at you, everything is backwards and my brain has trouble with that. Part B was kind just left out. Because its backwards I can't tell where you are playing the C chord. Im figuring it out. Hope the camera gets moved back for the rest of the videos.
I just joined your patreon, but I can't figure out how to get to exclusive patreon content. Please help! I did create a password. I listened to your patreon intro but it didn't help.
Thank you Brenda! I will send you a message on Patreon! 😊
Thanks!
Who is the maker of your dulcimer? Lovely sound :-)!
Its a McSpadden Dulcimer and thank you! If you are interested I can help in the purchase.
Get a good used US handcrafted one from Ebay or one of the online used instrument sellers. Do not go out and buy a $700 McSpadden. They are not worth it. If you are a beginner do not spend more than $300 on a dulcimer. If you do not like it, you don't want to be stuck with a $700 wall ornament. Also, there is now and influx of dulcimers called Roosebeck from Pakistan and Apple Creek from Romania. They are cheap and I am sure of fairly consistent quality. I just don't like the idea of buying an American style instrument from a foreign country.
Hello do u have 6 strings on ur dulcimer
Actually, I do on this one, but I know longer have that instrument.
Where did you buy your dulcimer?
Hi Kathy, it’s a McSpadden Dulcimer and actually I am a dealer if you are interested and would be glad to help you out.
The pinky finger is the little finger.
Suzanne Leblanc Yes
It is so hard to listen to a lesson when I don't know what I'm supposed to learn. PLEASE play the song first, and THEN show how it's done.
Nico T I’m not sure if you saw my other comment but the videos you are looking at are the older videos. On the newer videos I did exactly that and played the tune first.
WELL, FIRSTLY: WHAT IS THE TUNING, EXACTLY?...
guloguloguy It’s in the TITLE of the lesson. “Old Joe Clark” DAD Tuning - ALL LEVELS .... so the tuning is DAD
Sorry, this is DAD?
Thanks
Yes, DAD... I will add that to the title.
