I don’t know what it is about her voice. Just about any song she sings makes me cry a good cry. Not many things in life does this to me . My heart is somehow in line with the tone of her voice. The sound of her voice is so soothing and hypnotic that my mind goes to places in my past. Some memories are sorrowful and painful and just by listening to her angelic voice some how makes everything better and replaces them with joy and happiness. Thanks! Another great reaction. I really like Adele and will continue to listen to her, but I will listen more often to Angelina. Her rich emotional voice almost compels me to listen. I am in thrall to this fantastic artist. This song makes me feel the pathos and longing as if Angelina has truly lived through it. Amazing! It's not about better. Music makes us feel something and our visceral/physiological responses inform us of the choices we will make. Who do we want to listen to? (From reading many Dimash and Diana reactions, I think they feel for these singers what I feel for Angelina). The future of music is safe and in good hands. For me, the best hands are Angelina's. We older folks are going to try to hang around as long as we can to watch Angelina become the megastar that future generations will talk about with awe and reverence (sort of like many of the artists that AJ covers). One of the things that makes this so beautiful and interesting to listen to is the fact that she effortlessly spans 2 complete octaves within the song (C#3 --> C#5), when she goes from the end of each verse to the chorus.
Thank you for the kindness you showed to Angelina . I have no musical talent at all but I like how you analyze her singing . I can’t hear most of those things that you pick up on . My take on Angelina is that she an empath . Meaning that she collect the emotions of peoples around her and project them back to her public . Listening to her I feel her reaching out to my heart and soul and applying a calming balm . I confess to being addicted . I can’t think of any other singers having such a powerful effect on me . There is always the temptation to compare this to Adele, but I'm not sure if it should be compared. I have heard this one many, many (so many) times, and I just don't think there is any way for any other artist (adele or not) to top what was done here by a 12 year old (just sitting in her in her home with her friend). Adele is Adele, and she deserves her place in the list of all time great singers, but Angelina is something else completely. The list that Angelina belongs on is much shorter than the list that Adele belongs on (in my opinion).

One of the great benefits of these videos, is that they are so stripped down that your attention is focused entirely on Angelina's soul-wrenchingly incredible voice and her skill at using it. Like all jazz greats, she treats her voice like an instrument to be explored and exploited. Lot's of people can sing - not many can sing like that.

It won't help. All the latest versions use the term "Angelina Jordan" for synonyms of such words as "amazing", "wow", "heartfelt", "perfection", etc. It's going to really simplify our language.

Adele is great,love her music and voice but Angelina is hypnotic ,draws you in and makes you hang on every word.
We both agree that Adele is great and we love her. However there is a huge "but" that casts shade on your opinion. While I concur that Angelina is hypnotically irresistible I don't think it's proper to insinuate that Adele is somewhat lesser than Angelina. I suppose the difference is your point.

@@lawrencefarrell2134 I can understand Jamil's comments. It is probably because he didn't have in his mind the "magic" words "In my opinion" that you implied after the word "but". I notice on many occasions that a rebuttal of "an opinion" is because the person cementing takes that comment as a "fact" rather than an "opinion". For me, every comment is an opinion unless the person commenting can verify what is said by pointing to a source.
So I don't think we can, or should, make a judgment about who sings the song better. But if I had to do that on technical merit, I would lean toward Adele. But that's not what I judge a performance by. For me, it's all about who makes me FEEL the song more; that's all I really care about. And with that in mind, I lean pretty heavily toward Angelina.

Angelina is a special singer to say the least. I often state that yes this is one of my top 90 by Angelina. You can see why. Angelina uses her God given voice appropriately to fit the song. She is my favorite human, singer role model. Thumbs up Adam.

I love how, especially in her higher register(s), she CAN do any note with precise clarity, but often adds a "breathiness", at the same volume, for emotional effect. Very unusual.
I'm in my 60s and I've listened to Angelina for the past week. And every day, *every day*, I cry. Her voice is beautiful, it transports me and I'll admit it - I am addicted. ❤️

This is a song about nostalgia, and regret... neither are loud feelings, they are more introspective, a whisper of remembrance, sadness and regret. Angelina emotes this beatifully, soft and inviting which is why she captivates one's attention in a golden cage of feelings.

It's as much beauty to just watch Angelina Jordan move, as it is beautiful to listen to her sing. If you watch her in silence without the sound of the music and her voice in this video, then you can feel the vibration, the immense music of her sensitivity on the edge of her soul in her delicate dancing gestures, her hands when they move with elegance, his so discreet smiles, his looks so deep and so humble. What freshness and what innocence! it is beautiful, noble, tall and light as to watch the flight of a bird. Even the guitarist is under the spell.
And when you listen to her sing without looking at her, without even ever having seen her with your eyes closed, it is the same mysterious and so overwhelming magic in her voice that grabs your heart.
So seeing and hearing these two wonderful gifts from the same person as one unique gift at the same time, much like the sparkling light of a silent star in the night, I see I have no words to describe it. immense emotion that this incredible young woman transmits.
Angelina plus Ivan cannot be beat. They complement each other so well. She is great on her own, he adds another deminsion.

Perhaps go back a little further, to her performances on Norway's Got Talent. I think you will be stunned by her stellar performances that propelled her onto the world stage. At the age of 7. Her stage presence is incredible...I particularly like 'Bang Bang' from that selection of performances.
Yes, “Bang Bang” (speaking of Angelina doing a Nancy Sinatra song from a Tarantino movie.). It’s fun how she rewrites some of the words in that song to make it more age appropriate for her.
I just wonder if her singing this song would be any better if she didn't have to read the lyrics. The amazing thing here is the emotion injected so flawlessly under the circumstances.
Hi! I’m back again, I know, so soon but there are 3 additional suggestions: These are totally different styles and sounds from what Angelina has in her 103..give or take..to date, music. One that I know of is recorded when she was 11 years old, La Boheme, another is an original written by Angelina Jordan, Oslo and then ....I believe Speak Softly Love. from The Godfather. All 3 were performed similarly and at least 2 if not 3 were live at an outdoor venue in Norway with the royal orchestra that she performs with regularly. They are really interesting and beautiful to listen to. She has several recordings out from each and “Oslo” has one recording where she is in the outdoor venue again and when the is introduced, she comes out to the mic and starts singing immediately catching the orchestra off guard as they look at each other and start scrambling thru the music. Really different for Angelina. She is usually so exacting in all of her performances. A rare moment and quite comical I might add. Just another glimpse of another dimension of Angelina.

It is testimony to the emotive prowess of Angelina Jordan that when she sings a sentimental song about her life in the distant past, we have no choice but to believe this twelve year old girl. 😊
This is one of the songs where she she improves on the original, and there is a mashup with her and Adele here on TH-cam that illustrates that point. Also, you are spot on in your comments, although I have to disagree that this is pure perfection. I’d rather say it is pure honesty, with no post production adjustments or “fixes”. For me, that makes it even more enjoyable. As you will see in future reactions, Angelina is very brave in that way also, putting out some quite experimental performances. She is not behaving like a «star» building a career, but like a gifted artist and hard working musician growing step by step before our eyes.
On the other hand, in band rehearsals, studio work and performances before a large audience, you’ll often see her go for pure perfection...and indeed achieve it.

In this song, IMO, comparing the two versions (original by Adele and the cover of Angelina), she, at 12 years old, is decidedly more emotional and profound, with tones in a wider range than that of Adele and more, she is reading while singing 😍 😍
Angelina makes difficult things seem easy and she offers them in such a spontaneous way and without any apparent effort that she makes us taste them sweetly, just like a colorful dessert that melts in your mouth releasing sweet musical aromas, she is absolutely fascinating.

There are so many possibilities but I agree with those suggesting Wicked Game. It is really different, *extremely* creative, and takes her ability to emote to yet another level. It is almost a cappella, with only a very minimalist piano arrangement performed by Angelina herself. I recommend the fan-made video that others have suggested.

To quote another UK reactor, Gitana_Adelle, when Angelina sings it's like she just reaches in, plucks out a piece of her soul and chucks it at you. "...she draws you in..." - perfect description of the effect that she has on people with her music. There is something intangible about the way she uses her tone, breath, timing, fry, rasp, cry, and other aspects of her vocalization to subtly convey a deeper meaning to what she sings, more effectively than most singers who just "perform" the song. You can never get enough Angelina and fortunately for you, there are 120+ more to go.

I completely agree on the pairing of Angelina and Ivan. They have such and understanding of when "less is more" and such good communication. Angelina has had an amazing ear for subtleties from an astonishingly early age. I cannot imagine what she will be in another decade when her instrument is fully developed. I hope to live to hear that.
Thank you for another grand reaction to my favourite singer. You don't need to search a dictionary or buy a thesaurus. Initially all you need is the phrase "Because it is Angelina". Then, as you become more familiar with her that can be reduced to just the one word "Angelina" Your problem is solved. Angelina and Ivan understand just what is necessary for a performance. Nothing "fancy"; no "theatrics" Just the minimum to achieve the best.
Others commenting have mentioned Angelina's performance of Chris Isaac's "Wicked Game" I don't know whether you are ready for that yet, on two grounds,. It means you will have to go forward about three years. It is gut wrenching and very emotional. I am not suggesting that you couldn't handle the emotions but when I first heard it, I was left feeling utter despair and a sense of abandonment.
