Bulgaria. May, season underway at last in Sunny Beach!

- The 2024 summer season has started in Sunny Beach, the biggest resort in Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast. It's tentative now , the charter planes have just started to arrive but we can feel a change as we walk around the central areas on a fantastic sunny Sunday in May .

It is deceptive, as I say its only the main central areas at present, today they started on Jacks. There are workers all over and flights start to increase, all good this year

It was torrential, but people were still having fun. The DJ in central is cracking keeping them dancing with great classics hits.

Just created a login to TH-cam and subscribed to your channel today to say thanks for your great videos. We’re staying at Secrets from early July and found your vids informative, amusing and enthusiastic. We can’t help but get excited about coming out! We‘re retired and travel a lot, but this will be our first visit to Bulgaria. Very impressed by the quality of your films and the speed you produce them. Editing my holiday videos took for ever. Well done to you both. Would be interested to see what it is like towards St Vlas. All the best-oh and where can I get some sunglasses like yours with the yellow lenses?
Look back at our older videos there are a couple at Vlas showing the marina. I try and edit so that the video comes out and is current, in high season I can get ahead of myself a little. It takes about 6 hours to edit a 12 minute video like these so you need to be locked away and really concentrate on it thanks for the great comment.

When you see them put the wheel up with the cranes it's quite skilled. Susan is going shopping, new out fits for videos

We are at Sunny beach now but the end nearer Nessambar. Would hate Sunny beach in the busy months. It's nice and easy now but need things to do other than Nessambar and Bourgas - day 2 and we've done them. We walked to Nessambar - its a nice walk - do it!
You can visit Pomorie its a 17 bus from Sunny Beach or 10 stoops there on way to Bourgas. Nice proper small town with fishing boats and central areas. There is a monastery there you can go round as well.
Thanks. At hotel Calypso and cant find a bus stop towards Sunny Beach. Any help would be much appreciated as the bus stop we got off from Nessambar was the Pirate Island one. Hoping to find a nearer one! Cheers

The only time my friend and I went to Bulgaria, it was May 14th to stay in the Fenix Hotel Sunny Beach. Everything in the area and the hotel was SHUT. Were told it was too early, 7.30pm. Apparently nothing opens until 21st May there was no kitchen staff.
no restaurants open we had to make do with a packet of crisps, the poor waiter at breakfast offered us a full English consisting of a boiled egg a piece of cucumber a tomato. We could make toast and get a cup of tea, but if I was offered £1000 to go back there I would decline. (The weather wasn’t too bad, but there were no sunbeds out) I would say you’re easily pleased if you like Bulgaria. 😡
It is shut around that area today you obviously did not understand the season here, when it stops and starts, a shame 2 weeks later would have been busy around there. At present itx a limited central area only where there is life and activity. Shopska salad is everywhere here even breakfast. The real date here for the season is schools and colleges breaking up, 23rd may this year. Currently sitting outside a bar with live music chilling in the beautiful sunshine. Sorry you had a bad experience.

They will be open there was work going on last week making first preparations. No children are really here till 24th may

There are a few, it's taste and what agrees with you, some are a bit gassy but cold and tasty

@@Jamie-uk2zh I am from Bulgaria and i have to say sunny beach is nothing special considering there are a lot better places i dont know why too many foerigners Come here it is only one street with couple of bars nothing more i guess you Come for cheap alcohol but you have to know in night clubs give you low quality alcohol
@@ramiram847 The quality of alcohol is always going to be low in holiday resorts like benidorm ,Sunny beach etc but why would I holiday in countries like spain or France when British tourists are clearly and made to feel unwanted and unwelcome?

as a bulgarian, those restaurant prices are tooooooo high. those are some tourist prices
We found the same prices in other tourist places in Bulgaria. In Veliko Tarnovo higher. In Sunny Beach you can walk back ten minutes and find it very different where locals go

That's about right but that's ambient temperature there is a lot of power in the sun so you need a hat and cream.

Sorry no, they haven't opened yet. Most clubs wind down start of September as students go back into education. Plenty of bars are open till third week then it starts to close.
That dog had a poo on the beach at 7.30 mins. The owners didn't clean it up!!!
Only saw it after I published it, somehow I never saw it while editing. Dogs soon off the beach.

We are often around the resort.
As soon as i can get a return flight from Newcastle for less than £200, i'm coming for a week.
Susan was online for days getting family flights here but they do come up at reasonable prices.
@@sunnybeachlife5860 I had a flight booked from LTN next week, wizzair changed flight from 3pm to 6am, it made getting there on the train impossible. Flights from NCL start this week, Tui, Jet2 & Balkan so they'll come down in price as the season gets started, i hope 😂

If you don't mind me asking, is Sunny Beach suitable for families, or is it mostly for party goers and sex tourists?
We've initially booked an all inclusive stay at the Marvel Hotel (apparently renovated this year) But I have read so many commenters (mostly Reddit) after my bookings, saying that Sunny Beach is more or less a shit heap.
Are there some truth to this, or is it exaggerated?
It's 90% a family resort there are a few fun bars and clubs for younger people. The resort does not even get going till school holidays, 24th of may. It's great for young children and for history and a change head up to Nessebar. Yes the marvel has had work done, look at our video a couple of months back , first swim ax I had the drone around the marvel.

Sunny Beach is great for children of all ages. I'm sure there the things you've heard about, but I've never seen them.
Personally I wouldn't go all inclusive, the restaurants and bars do amazing food at very good prices and the local beer is very nice and only around £1.25 a litre when you get away from the beach bars, where it's around £2.

And I do agree with the All inclusive, but sometimes it is just the easier route with picky kids.
Choosing from a buffet tables is just more convenient.
If it gets too boring, i have no problem going outside of the hotel for a bite or two :)
My only grumble is Norwegian Air will deposit me at Burgas airport well after 10 PM and after baggage claim and waiting for the shuttle bus to fill up I won't be at my hotel until ..... dunno ...... approaching midnight? Buggar! 😠
Many bars will be open after midnight for a few hours from June onwards.
We land at 22-35, usually checked in to our hotel and in The Fat Cat well before midnight.

i have question why English People prefer Sunny Beach for they vacantion there are better places for summer like Spain Italy France
We had many years with family living in Spain but we chose to retire here. It's different in culture and food, it's green as well. There are many choices for holidays we love this. The English are a minority here being outnumbered by Irish and Germans. It's being discovered by polish now and many are coming this year.

@@sunnybeachlife5860 i am Bulgarian i know my country i am born here so I have a lot of experience here sunny beach is not any good beach is dirty and water too it cant be compared with any other country in this case Spain if you want still to Come i cant stop you but i can advice you is not a place that i will pay even bars lies and give to customers fake garage alcohol and that is not the end they sell even drugs every where but i know People only Come there to drink and become drunk so if it is for that there is no point you cannot see something interesting

Hi, could you tell me what is the condition of Sunny Beach? People? Tell me it’s run down but it looks okay to me and everyone says it’s only fun of young people.

We would not live somewhere that bad obviously it's safer here than London, it's in a time warp going back 50 years, that's why so many love it
