So my only real frame of reference for Angela Lansbury was "Murder She Wrote" but after having watched this film, what a complete stunner she was when she was younger. I was born 10 years after this film was made but as I get older, I'm fast realising that some of these older films are of far better quality than a lot of the rubbish churned out today. First class acting from everybody and a great plotline. Thank you for posting this one. I'll be looking out for more films like this in future.
Very sad we lost Angela L. Last week!, but she left us many films and murder mystery stories to appreciate and remember her beauty and intelligence,, forever young and forever a star thru all her theatre and television shows! One of the last of Hollywoods golden era. Thank you so much for posting this fabulous movie, creepy music and all💕
She sold her soul longtime ago and has continued sacrifices to Satan to maintain her career! Simple as that cause that's how it works and if you don't you get blackballed and or suicided if you refuse to renew your contract with another sacrifice! When I say sacrifice I'm literally talking about giving up someone very close to you for the satanists to sacrifice! Typical contracts only last for 20 years so you have to give consent for another person close to you to be sacrificed to renew your contract! Usually it requires a family member like your mom or father but your own children are the best for longer contract like 40 years!
Interesting fact about Raymond Burr. He was an orchard enthusiast? He visited Fiji and saw the beautiful ones they grow there and so he bought some land and had it landscaped and planted thousands of orchids and other tropical plants. When he died he willed it to the people of Fiji and it is now a tourist spot well worth seeing.
I THOUGHT I WOULD BE BORED WITH THIS FILM, BUT I WAS HOOKED BY THE PLOT AND THE DRAMA WAS SOOO ENTICING. I WANT MORE ON THIS LEVEL. IT IS SAD THAT TODAY'S LEVEL OF SCRIPTS ARE SO BANAL IN MOST PARTS, NOW I UNDERSTAND COPPOLA REMARKS ABOUT THE MOVIES OF THE BYGONE ERAS. AND WHAT IS SAD, THAT MOST FILMS ARE BASED ON WHAT I AM WATCHING NOW (NOIR) I APPLAUD YOU FOR POSTING THIS MOVIE AND THANK YOU. IT WAS CAPTIVATING. GREAT PLOT... RAYMOND BURR MUST GET A MENTION TOO ..😄❤
With her passing away and would have been 97th birthday, I wanted to watch something with Angela Lansbury. The title sounded just right. And it has Raymond Burr. I watched Ironside in the '70s.
Excellent movie!! A funny note about Angela Lansbury - My mother , born in 1921, said the worst nightmare of her life was when she dreamed she was Angela Lansbury. Angela had done a lot of low down woman parts for many years so my mom dreaming she was Angela was a sort of nightmare for her. It was many years later when she saw Murder She Wrote that mom changed her opinion of Angela. That whole story always tickled me.😊
Her lowest low down woman part she' played that can never be surpassed was her role as the mother in the Manchurian candidate a chilling performance and a chilling movie
If you like Burr & Lansbury as villains in old films look up or look for on these films. Burr in "The Blue Gardenia" (1953) , " Crime of Passion" (1957 ).Lansbury in "Life at Stake " (1954), "The Manchurian Candidate"(1962 ). I'm sure there are more but these 4 have the same look & style as "Please Murder Me".
I have already seen two of these ("Crime of Passion" and "A Life at Stake"). Thank you for this information. I will be surely looking up and looking out for "The Blue Gardenia" and The Manchurian Candidate". Regards from India.
Great film noir. Actors with screen presence. Never seen quite the evil as Myra in this one. Interesting twist with the sudden friendship between Craig and the artist Karl Holt. Accentuated with little touches, pats on the back. Raymond Burr really lights up when opposite the actor playing Karl Holt. A true love triangle!
This story has all the ingredients I have no memory in seeing in any other movie. Privately I cannot believe the jury found her not guilty BUT that is the story. wow. Thank you very much for sharing.
Nowadays, from the time he mentioned the tape recorder I would have her ease over to where the gun was on the floor and get it and shoot Ray, grab the tape and high tail it outta there. Hide in the outer office cupboard or something if needed after that instead of standing there so wooden in shock. 🙄🤔😅 She might have even been able to get outside and calmly walk away as the police were pulling up. After all apart from the tape no one knew she was to be there. Hateful murderous woman gets away, to kill again. Lor!!!
Precurser for Raymond Burr. Perry Mason was next. Angela Lansbury was perfect in her part. And John Dehner has a brutally honest pivotal role in this brutally honest picture of betrayal and deceit!
I love Raymond Burr, I watch Perry Mason every day, so seeing this movie intriguing. I also watch Murder she wrote with Angela Lansbury and she was great in this also.
Great movie thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe the car that he used in this movie was also the same car he used in the television series Perry Mason. To this day I still enjoy watching Perry Mason reruns.
Very good movie...but it's too bad that this copy of the movie is horribly flawed with the sound dropping off about a third of the way in and remaining that way. I had to put on headphones to hear the rest of the movie.
Like so many here. I am struck by the oceans of difference between this movie and big budget monstrosities of today. CGI, car-chases, sexual perversions, massive body-count does not make for a compelling story, memorable characters. What we get to view today is like eating fast food, its only value lies in its bulk, quantity. You feel sick after eating and are only grateful that the body can digest it and expel it from the body. One can only lament how far American culture has descended, just as we deplore how great, classic cities such as San Francisco, Baltimore, Chicago fallen into the ruins that would shame a third-world country.
Angela was so lovely in this movie about 7 years later she' played a very unlovely character in a spell binding performance in the Manchurian candidate an early look at Raymond's pre Perry Mason days he also played some good heavy roles most notedly in the original rear window 🪟🪟

Wow i thought he used blanks and was going to get up off the floor. And yes i thought his representing her was a conflict of interest since he was having an affair with her.Raymond Burr was tall handsome and a great actor.Overall i give this movie an 8 out of 10.
Raymond Burr was far more than handsome and a great actor...Like so few he was quiet about his generous nature in buying an island destined to be left in despair. He bought it-- then, transferred ownership back to the islanders upon his death...He financially supported all with his two wineries (one in California). No,-- as a son of New Westminster B C, he was a genuinely decent man who never sought fame--just loved acting..Much like my other hero Richard Widmark (a real gentleman all his life).>
I know this isn’t Perry Mason but Raymond Burr will always be Perry Mason for I. 😀😀😀 His voice along I’m happy I chose this film. I love me some Angela Lansbury as well. She was good in Gaslight, The Manchurian Candidate, and The Mirror Crackd.
Yes indeed brother, yes indeed.
(She was transgender.)
Her best performance was in 'Gaslight'. She stole the film.
She was amazing in "The Harvey Girls" also. That's one of my favorites!

Excellent plot where you were never sure what was going to happen! Good actors!
No matter how often I see this, it never gets boring. Two real good actors in their early days, and yet such a believable performance,
Agree.
Perry Mason & Jessica Fletcher😋
At least..perry mason
This was done a year before gardner's show
Please Murder Me has to be the most brilliant movie I've ever seen.
Simply excellent!!!
Raymond Burr's warm up to The role of Perry Mason ,just one year after this movie ( 1957 ).....That was a great series ....and this was a good film .
It is incredibly amazing that Angela Lansbury’s career encompasses the Golden era of Hollywood to the present day.
There would be a lot more if they were still working, or if they hadn't died younger.
"Murder she wrote" will never age💪

Orchid. Emntheusiasm is actually a mental disease. I know some afflicted persons. Tragic stuff.

Angela Lansbury! When she was good she was very good - but when she was bad she was better!
Man, did you ever notice how freaking close to each other people stood in old flicks?
People were definitely asking for a serious spit shower back then. Nose to nose in casual conversation.
It was the lenses they had with the huge film cameras. To get both people into the frame they had to be on top of each other.
