You NAILED it man! There are nice USA made PRS, Fenders and even some Gibsons like the SG special around this price. Even with the upgraded specs, labor in China is far cheaper than USA labor but Epiphone is charging USA prices for a made in China guitar. I feel like Epiphone is over inflating the prices to create a huge profit for themselves. Keep in mind Epiphone is still cheaping out with a poly finish, no fret nibs and using indian laurel instead of rosewood.
Right?!? Something just doesn’t add up in my head, part of me gets it, and part of me can’t 🤣🤣🤣 and then I’ve been watching videos where more people are complaining about the frets, the tuners the nut, twisted necks…. So yeah, it feels pretty crazy

@@ItsjorgelanzasAlso the ES-355 is my favorite of the new releases as well. 😁 Ebony board, hollow body construction, MOP inlays and custombuckers is tempting even at $1300 lol.
You need to take into account the cost of the upgraded hardware in this lineup, and the costs of having said hardware installed on the cheaper variants of these models. Such as the $799 Custom vs the $1299 Custom. That extra cost increase is more or less the same as how much it would cost to make those upgrades, parts and labor. Also take into account we are in an inflated economy, and $1299 does not have as much purchasing power as it did a few years ago.
All of it sounds good and all, I just feel that price anchoring is doing a lot for this. I still can’t wrap my head around an Epiphone for the same price as an American PRS. Sounds nuts to me. But I get it, I hear all the reasoning! Thanks for your input friend!
I considered buying an epiphone es-335 and weighed it against buying a harley benton and a Chinese mfg. 335. Ended up getting the Chinese, sight unseen and was very happy with it. It was about $300 and a bit dicey with an overseas transaction and not knowing if I'd get screwed over on quality. This is back when the Epiphone 335 was about $700. When I was a kid, I wouldn't get a Epiphone Les Paul because I didn't want other players to think I was cheap. There is no justifying paying PRS prices when you consider import labor costs are always cheaper than Us labor. Hope this isn't a new trend in guitars.
Right friend??? That’s all I’m saying!!! They’re really trying to break a paradigm of modern money mechanics. Which worries me. Premium prices with scratchy frets, sharp ends, poorly cut nuts and a nice set of pickups… 🤣🤣 anyway, that’s what seeing in some TH-cam videos with personalities I trust! Will they be plek’d? If not, I don't think I'll take it. The pups and the headstock are not worth the difference. the fret finish is often sloppy on Epiphones
Wow, that’s a great point!! I Don’t see anything about that in their website or any seller talking about it in their own product copy. And the only couple videos that made reference to the frets, they said the frets were just whatever Epiphone finishing, but I’m thinking they meant polish cause they were scratchy. I still feel it’s crazy to see this prices for guitars made in China. Considering that the whole thing of manufacturing in China is to make things cheap. I mean, i 100% prefer to get an American prs or save $1000 and get a prs SE 🤣🤣 prs is really dominating the price range, maybe this is the year prs gets bigger than Gibson. I have the 355 and the hardwares on it are normal gold hardwares. Not VOS. Very beautiful and sounds amazing!

the prs s2 don't have American electronics in them at all i have 3 they all have Korean pickups and electronics and the fenders you showed were all made in Indonesia or Mexico a regular fender tele is 2k plus after tax
That used to be the case, but the 2024 version does my friend, go check it out!!! Even the S2 standard 24 comes with the 58/15lt now, go check it out, I covered this a week ago or so! In this video I even show you in sweetwater prices side to side. I don’t just say things out of nowhere, I read first 🤣🤣 but thanks for your contribution, maybe not accurat, but valuable and appreciated nonetheless.

The new line is amazing value for money... I have the new 2024 epiphone les paul custom and yes the gibson headstock is such a nice touch to the finishing.. If you look at the specs against a new gibson les paul custom.. Then compare the prices for what you are actually getting. The epiphone les paul custom is ultra amazing value but less the gibson price tag and the nitro finish.

@@hellofx I paid 1089 with full pro set up and good strings... But 1300 is the new 700.....its not alot of money in 2024 when you consider what people waste on smoking, drinking, new cars and expensive holidays, mobile phones, laptops ect
In my recent experience the new Epi’s are better but still same old QC issues like scratchy frets and badly cut nut, definitely not worth these new prices. Gibson is the same on the high end, insane prices, spotty quality. As much as I love their classic designs I don’t care for their corporate greed and bullying other companies. My solution as of late was to buy a (gently used) Heritage. They are Gibson without the QC issues and greedflation bs. As for Epi, when I want a top quality import with pro quality parts and consistent QC I buy Reverend. They are killing it in that high-end import space. The Korean factories are on the level with Japan imo.
That’s how I feel. Even my prs se has better QC than my Gibson Les paul studio, lol my 7th inlay popped out, nut too low on the high E, the bridge pup came DOA 🤣🤣 and I felt it was expensive at $1700. I love the feel, the sound, the look, the heritage. But the prices are simply unjustified. It’s just like the case of every single trust fund, like a game “let’s see how much people pay, keep raising prices until people stop buying, let’s figure out where’s that breaking point” and I guess they haven’t found it, we still flock to but them 🤣🤣 rewarding their socio/economic experiment. It’s more than that now, some of the guitars come with custombuckers that are like $400, so I kinda get it, but still, I feel you. I like the 355, that one seem sort of reasonable I think, anyway I hope you’re having a great day my friend! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
People want gibson quality at epiphone prices. They will never be happy

You could definitely say that at this price they could include a ebony fretboard, but from my experience Indian laurel plays and feels exactly the same, and the only notable difference is the brighter color of the Indian laurel

You say I don’t care where the guitar is made as long as it’s good then 2 minutes later you start saying that you have an issue with the price tag because it’s not american made, cmon man you are also comparing guitar models that are way more expensive when gibson makes them to cheaper to made gibsons not even the same type of guitar, buy both and compare them to see the if it’s worth it, it will be better for value to buy the epiphone variant

It’s mostly about the price. It used to be that they wouldn’t use rosewood because they said it was expensive and the guitars would have to go up in price blah blah blah, and here we are $1000 price increase later and there’s still no RW, it’s just a simple complaint of “premium priced instrument” with “budget materials” notice the “” please. And i give a F. Very much. I bet you a lot of people dropping all that cash would care.
No epiphone and Les Paul there would be No Gibson Les Paul solid body guitar today a historic fact see when you actually research you would have known that..

Epiphone is still a china chibson... just buy a chibson if you want a fake gibson. Way better.
And if you want a overpriced LP, with flaws buy a Gibson
I think overall most people who are not brand loyalist or crazy fans recognize that Gibson and now Epiphone are the most overpriced guitars in the regular mainstream market. That’s my opinion. It’s insane to think that to get a “proper” Les Paul, not vintage, just proper they expect you to drop over $6k. Everything else, they’re like “oh, but this is the budget version” “oh but, did you se how much are real bursts now?” 🤣🤣 it’s just crazy to me as a “non trust fund” simple human. Even tho of course I still want one
