    Hey very nice and helpful content! I'm considering doing the same thing on a FS450 but I still have some doubts that maybe you can help. One of them is about the odometer/speedometer.. is it needed to be fully legal there? The other one is if the OE rotor is enough to power all the lights + charge the battery? Thank you.

    • @Boosted_14R
      @Boosted_14R  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m not sure about every area but I don’t need on odometer and speedo in Texas. The charging system seems to be holding up for my stock light set up as of now. It has a lithium battery which is very good for LEDs and such which is what I used for the turn signals. Also True North Motos wiring harness has a delayed on and off relay for the headlights and such which allows easier starting on the battery

    Awesome video. Buying my first SM and am looking at the 500's and the SMR. Dont have a ton of time to wrench on a brand new bike (business owner). What was the approximate cost and time investment for this? I've heard the 500 makes similar performance once the OEM emissions junk is removed. Its more cc's so would imagine comparable (at least) torque.

    • @Boosted_14R
      @Boosted_14R  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It didn’t take much time but I build bikes a lot. It cost a few thousand. The 500 will make a better bike if you plan to ride highway and stuff. Makes less power and weighs more though. My SMR weighed in at like 200 ish pounds when I put it on a scale. I built this because I still plan to race it and really only plan to hooligan it around. Not using for daily commute or highway at all.

    Hi, great video! I am looking to buy the best supermoto there is but I am a bit confused because there are so many options. I could convert a ktm SX 250 or SX-F 450 and make them street legal but would the 450 SMR still be better? The enduro versions would be also a good option as they are already street legal and of course there is the 690 SMC R. What advice could you give me? Thanks!

    • @Boosted_14R
      @Boosted_14R  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hands down best supermoto imo is the SMR. If you want more streetability I would do the SMC R but the SX and SXF are dirt bikes so I wouldn’t use the platform. I did the SMR because I want to hooligan around but be able to still go race it and be competitive.

    • @viceplayz2394
      @viceplayz2394 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And what about a converted 500 exc-f or 300 exc compared to the 690 smc r?

    • @Boosted_14R
      @Boosted_14R  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are both designed for off road primarily so I would do the 690. The choice there would be if you primarily want to ride on or off road. O road I would do 690 and off road do an EXC.

Not sure about gear ratio but the geometry, suspension, clutch, triple tree, brakes, engine has differences, I noticed everything is different from when I made this street legal. Great video! I've followed you're instructions to convert my 2019 FS450. Dan at True North is great and has sent me everything I need. I'm stuck on finding wheels though... Warp 9 is telling me their front wheel will hit the the oversized brake caliper on this bike. Is this why you went with the more pricey Alpina wheels? Are you aware of any other budget friendly wheel options?
    Also... My brother has a FE501 (supermoto'd out) with the same crazy maintenance schedule.. He changes his oil every 15-20hrs and has over 450hrs without rebuilding the top end yet.. and his valves have always been in spec. That being said he regularly does leak down tests to ensure it not loosing compression. He says this maintenance schedule is meant for the strain of racing. Spirited riding on the street will prolong the motor.. He plans to do the top end this winter though.

    • @TheRealJustinMorgan
      @TheRealJustinMorgan ปีที่แล้ว

      Also.. what tire sizes did you go with? Any rubbing with the chain in the rear?

    • @Boosted_14R

      So I chose alpina because I couldn’t find any others that would fit but ended up cancelling and keeping my 16.5”. As far as the tires, I had ordered some but I moved before they came in so I have my slicks on still. Hope that helps some, it’s not an easy project but mine passed inspection in Texas.
