Thank you, Kim. The National Film Board of Canada gave me the healthiest appreciation for short films when I was a kid. Especially Cosmic Zoom and The Railrodder with Buster Keaton.
I recently decided to make a short, I know it won't be festival worthy, But I want people to see (Even just my friends) what kinds of things I want to do and i know it will help me at my craft.
Thank you for this interview. Definitely good to hear, as I just finished writing a short and had felt I was wasting time. Good to hear someone speak on all the reasons I wanted to make it in the first place.
Listening to this as I fell asleep then finished the rest as I woke up. Very moving and something I needed to hear at this time. Bless her and this channnel.
Make shorts for fun and to learn from, cuz most people don’t seem to make money from them. It’s something to put on your resume most of the time. Make the thing you want to make in the future, cuz that’s how you’ll likely find your voice. Interesting.
Thank you Ms. Adelman for finding your expertise and going on to inspire others with your “electricity “! As for Karen……. You have a hypnotic voice that lends itself to journalism. I found ( Film Courage) during the pandemic…… it’s been my lifeline since then. The universe led me to you guys! Storytelling is probably the only reason I truly exist. I thought after 100s and 100s of songs…. I was just just a stage frightened singer songwriter…. I now realize….. I’m a storyteller who “ LIVES “ to tell the fantasy that reminds us of how wonderful life is!!! Draft after Draft the shaping of a masterpiece is a lot of perspiration with a rainbow popping up here and there……… the enemy of creation is limited time……… I figure….. if I’m not hit by a bus, or flattened by a meteorite….. I might be able to crank out…… just this one by 2025! Teaching myself animation though tutorials for this one. Can’t afford the price tag for CGI. Maya will play a large part, …. But I’m hoping the story, and the music will make the cardinal points ……….. thanks again Film Courage and to ALL MY KINDRED SPIRITED COLLEAGUES WHO SHARE THIS PASSION……… what a gift to be A L I V E!!!!!!!!
I felt that 😂 every project I take on becomes like my main reason to breathe (exaggerating a little but not by much) But I’ve been really trying to be more relaxed about things so I don’t get “analysis paralysis”
I wonder if making a feature script into short films/chapters is a long winded way of making a feature whilst theoretically evenly spreading the budget?

Are you planning a short film right now? Why or why not?
Working on the script 👍🏼
I'm planning a short film version of a feature film script I've written so I can have a proof of concept.
Yes. I can worry less about copyrights and be meta.
I am. Currently trying to get the licence to a specific song but it's looking unlikely 😅
I've just finished my short film the first
Thank you so much! She is just a wonderful positive women and I learned a lot from her conversation. Keep up the great work for us!
More to come!

She's got a fun personality. I have always wanted to make a short story/film, I think it's time to DO IT.
Great advice on building your own style on a short and future proof yourself for potential features.
This was great, I recently just made a short which didn't turn out perfect, but I was really happy with it and learned a lot!
Congrats! Best of luck on the next one!
Kim has great effervescent energy. Very motivating.

It’s always worth remembering how George Lucas made an original impact with a short film called Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB.
You should! Anything is better than nothing

A short film needs good sound editing and an even greater twist or reveal.

Do 25 short films of 5 minutes each and you will have make the same screen time as a feature film
We released a small mini shortfilm on our chanel, check it out and tell us what you think ! :)
Bigger projects are already in the works
