It happened to me in December 2019.
I appeared for IBPS prelims exam and it went well. But my anxiety got better of me and while I was waiting for the result, I took a teaching job out of fear that time is slipping away and I should start earning. And i stopped preparing for mains. I passed the prelims stage but thanks to my fear, I didn't have enough time to prepare for mains.
I failed the mains. Then COVID came and we all know what happened.
If I had enough confidence myself back then, then I would've had a government job by now.

which you will switch gears and move forward with a ‘Plan B’. However, for a
worthwhile goal, spending 2-5 years is worthwhile, especially if you achieve it.
Yes, if you don’t achieve it, at some point in life, you cannot help feeling
you spent so much time on an unsuccessful pursuit. But again, if you learned a
lot during the process, that time was not really wasted. Shwetabh is right- it
is ok to use others experiences as a guide, but never compare yourselves to
others all the time or you will be miserable all the time in life.

I grew up around a colony where people have fixed career choices like medicine, engineering, CA, govt jobs, etc. However, I chose none of that and decided to do something that I'd really enjoy.
Initially, I had no clue about my interest, so I experimented with everything that I felt right at that point.
I worked in sales, marketing, teaching, learned programming, MLM, and prepared for govt jobs before discovering a passion for writing. Now I'm 23 - working as a business writer for the last two years.
I was just getting 30k salary, but the pandemic levied 30% off. Whereas my friends who are into those mainstream careers will be settled sooner or later. Matter of months or another year, they'd be earning in lakhs, and I'll be underground.
Recently I started overthinking this issue. I doubt whether I had done any blunder leaving the conventional path. My profession has the potential for higher income, yet the road is quite unpredictable with no such guarantee.
Damn! Don't know what happens now!

Don't worry. What matters at the end of the day is if you get 'satisfaction' from doing your job. What's the point of earning lakhs in a job, when you're not even enjoying doing it? We are humans, not robots, and all of us have our own desires, our own interests.
Hn, if you're looking for a job 'just' for earning money and uplifting your family, then there's no problem. But i hope that's not the case with you.

I'm doing Company secretary as well. I'm 21 and in the last level ( cleared the previous level in feb 2020) My final level attempt was in dec 2020. I contracted covid in the morning of my last paper, had to opt out from exam. I started comparing and thinking 1.5 years went waste. Thank you for this video. I have two questions though.
1. I haven been feeling very nostalgic and sad lately that I couldn't attend more college and socialise much as CS is a difficult and very vast course ( Just like CA) and needed a lot of study time. It troubles me a lot
2. I study and then end up on youtube or social media after studying as I feel mentally exhausted to do something physical or purse some hobby after I study for the day. Had to leave learning singing because of it. Feel too lazy to do something productive ( like learn English better which I have been wanting to do for years) I feel like I'm not growing as a personality. How can I achieve a balance to achieve satisfaction over happiness?
Could you please help me with this?
