As the first person to get a WR in this game, I can confirm I had no idea what it even was until release day and then sat in a VC glitch hunting it for 2 days straight pretty much. So normal behaviour :)
The one reason why I think it's fine they patched the speedrun for THIS game is because this game in-particular is DESIGNED to be a skill-based speedy platformer. Its mechanics are ALREADY designed in mind for letting skilled players go fast, so I don't think it being filled to the brim with exploits that let you avoid all the actual GAME parts of the game is a good thing to incentivize. It'd be one thing if the game wasn't DESIGNED to be speedran essentially, your FNaF Security Breaches and such, but this game is. Could you imagine how unimpressive the Celeste speedrunning community would be if it just had a wall clip straight to the end of every stage? Sure, there's a few unintended tricks here and there due to highly specific collisions and good timing, but performing them doesn't actively require avoiding interaction with the primary mechanics of the game, and only happens in a few places during an entire run. I'd rather see how skillfully speedrunners can play the GAME than how fast they can fling themselves through the void like they do in every other indie game with unfinished physics and collisions, it stops being interesting to watch after a while. As far as I'm concerned, if you want to speedrun like that, then play in the pre-patched version and run on a separate leaderboard. It's the same thing they do for Minecraft, it's the same thing they do for Nintendo games. There's just different leaderboards for different updates, and I don't think that's a bad thing.

12:05 maybe a reason for the missing floor os that they didnt want to cut a hole in the floor so they just stopped the floor, and didnt put anything there to patch it up...
I found Frankie at a Subway, he was disappointed that Foot long sandwiches aren’t 5 dollars anymore. I think it’s cool that there are back up strategies for if you are having trouble with some of the trickier ones, it feels right for a Parkour game.

"finding frankie" "whats that" and thus my love for this game was discovered. parkour + horror is such an awesome game idea, and the only other game i know that does this is "The Classrooms" level- The Playrooms
I found frankie through 3fs (the music composer) and I instantly fell in love with the characters and game mechanics. It’s such a fun looking game and I hope I can save enough for it if I don’t win!! (P.s 3fs went HARD on the soundtrack!! So proud of how far he’s come!)

0:55 ooooo, givaway. Well i found the game on Instagram and immediately clicked with the idea. Also the soundtrack absolutely slaps. Though, i wasn't sure about buying the game seeing how short it is with little replayability.. Didn't expect people to beat it in less than 5 minutes tho TwT
i would definitely wait for the prize to either drop or it being on a huge sale if you actually buy it. right now its pretty expensive for the experience
It'd be nice if game devs kept old builds in betas so casual players by default have a smoother experience and speedrunners can still abuse certain exploits
i will say as a person who, whenever given the ability to jump, always tries to get to places the devs certainly don't think about, that first railing trick would definitely be something i'd try to do.

I can’t believe they’re so offended by random speedrunning tricks that they try and ruin speedrun. It’s a single experience horror game that’s kinda made to be speedrun, and they start ruining how fast you can beat it. I can’t imagine that helps anyone say ‘yeah, now I finally can play the game and have fun!’
3:37 You have to remember historically, these Exploits are valid because the developers couldn't set actual official rules back then on what is concidered exploiting or glitching, Patching those glitches and actually saying what is allowed and what is not sets actual boundaries. If I made a game with an official leaderboard and I patch out a bug that prevents a certain Skip, that Skip and anything related to it would be banned from the main official leaderboard.
Surprising they didn't decide to just put Frankie into the areas that players are not supposed to go to, like out of the map. After all, Frankie doesn't like cheaters.
Tbh the dev trying to patch all the speedrunning tricks (and specificly mentioning them, so it feels more like "no speedrunning for you!" than just not wanting glitches) is so bs. The game was made for that kinda thing and they patch it out!
