I agree with Skip here. When LeBron first came to LA, he said he invited Magic Johnson over to his house to discuss the roster. He definitely has a big hand in the roster.
It’s also about HOW the Lakers lost so many of their games: little to no defense, blowing leads late, falling behind early and never catching up. Those aren’t just basketball issues, they’re effort issues. A lot of that comes down to the kind of example your best player sets. He doesn’t deserve much blame as a player but, as a leader, a lot of this falls on him.
Also just plain old being Old and not caring as much....some of Westbrooks play wasn't just “In A Slump" basketball ...it was headscratchingly awful. @@theonemvp5599 I’d say that when the Lakers were bad during Kobe’s tenure it was more the result of lack of talent than lack of effort. Well damn unlike like kobe and Magic, he's not ever going to play the same amount of seasons with LA as they did, plus he's way past his prime going in while they both were in their prime. That's such a bogus comparison given that fact alone
Billie I agree. This season doesn't take away from LeBron's legacy of being the second best player of all time. What it DOES do is put the exclamation point on **Bubble Chip!!
True. He is past his prime still putting up 30. His defense has been deteriorating for years. I just laugh at Skip going at LeBron but tries to put a positive spin on Baker Mayfield.
You know people are salty when they bring up how the lakers won a Mickey championship when their team was competing for that same championship and still lost💀💀
No it contradicts lebron haters by showing how they put all the blame on lebron for lakers roster this year but don’t give him all the credit for the roster that won the ring in 2020
LeBron has been stat padding all season. While being a bum on the defensive end. Add that to his LeGM role, and he plays a heavy part in this disastrous season.
I have rarely heard lebron get the lions share of the blame. This entire season and previous seasons when things go right it’s always “ look how lebron carries his team and makes the player around him better”. When things go bad it’s “ look what he had to work with” he has always gotten the lions share of the credit for the four championship or going to 10 finals like he did it all by himself, but doesn’t deserve the lions share of the blame when things crumble?
Ask them to name one player whose game was elevated as a result of playing with Lebron James... And I mean sustained elevation. Players either became a shell of themselves or they were already great and didn't need his help.
plenty of athletes have done that lmaoo did you actually think before this????? i think lebron deserves the blame for this season’s shortcomings, but theres no way you actually think no other athlete has done that
He didn't call himself that. He was in high-school at the time. That was a Sports Illustrated marketing tool for magazine when he was on cover at the time. (Read the article. Its pretty spot on.) Choosen one to replace jordan as the next great basketball player. And Sports Illustrated was right. Lebron is the only one in the convo.
That’s exactly what I said about Curry. I don’t care how many times he’s averaged 30. In any season he’s always a complete liability on defense At least bron gets an age excuse since he was a monster defender in his prime But a player like Curry never plays any defense, so whenever they lose it’s because he gives up so many points Difference is, he’s surrounded by a dpoy who picks up all his defensive slack and laziness. Lebron isn’t blessed with that same amount of help‼️

Just going to put this out there: Kobe Bryant, on what turned out to be his final great year (thanks to that injury), carried a poorly-fit Lakers team of aging players (Gasol, Nash, Jamison, World Peace) and a just-past-his-peak-perennial All-Star with chemistry issues (Howard) to the 7th seed, an outright playoff team in the West. LeBron James, with legitimately comparable circumstances, could not even lift his team (that he had a bigger role in constructing, with a higher scoring average) into the freaking play-in. Along with other strong arguments I've got, don't ever tell me again that James is a greater player than Bryant ever was. Just facts. Plain and simple.

"He makes his teammates better" no longer works as a narrative. Stat-padding is not a very complicated skill, you have advantages in a competition, you pass the ball so your teammates gain some confidence to build upon as the season progress. If you play a better team, assert your dominance while keeping your teammates involve, that is leadership. But we see a different pattern all throughout, he sat out when competition is hard and play when it was easy and at the same time looking to score, this is demoralizing to his teammates and the fruits showed.
even the second greatest couldnt do it. with his own team, the team he built and the team he had so much confidence in before the season 😭. shannon jus gotta take his L

Shannon, you get way too emotional when defending Lebron. It's not that Rich Paul cant have clients but Lebron. James stuck his neck out for this dude and said he was untradable and the guy was bust Then Lebron had the chance to get Demar but chose to get Russ instead. Time and time again Shannon you have stated this is a superstar driven league and they make the ultimate decision so we all know Lebron did when it came to this roster. It finally caught up with him and now the Lakers are going to be sitting at home watching the playoffs.
Westbrook's PER so far (for 78 games) is 15.06. That stat is adjusted to always be 15 for the average league player. So Westbrook played no better than an average player, while getting a super-max contract that cost the team their shooting, depth, and defenders. That is a huge negative value for the team.
This was the 4th time LeBron has missed the playoffs. Not something he would want on his resume. The whole “He makes everyone around him better” banter should never be brought up again. Three great players have now played worse with LeBron than without him (Bosh, Love and Westbrook).

I’m not choosing sides here, I personally do not care about the Lakers at all. However just based on what I have seen this season it is very hard for me to agree with Shannon about LeBron being the goat. Or MVP for that matter. I played sports for a very very long time when I was younger and walking out of the arena consistently when your team fails is nothing of a goat status. That’s a crybaby status. There is so much more to being the greatest player ever than scoring 40 points a game. This lakers team was the biggest failure ever in the history of the NBA. That being said, I do feel like skip Bayless over exaggerates a lot. I was around when Jordan played and I’m around now, putting LeBron James’s name in the same sentence as Michael Jordans is blasphemous. These two men are not the same at all. Lebron is a whole tier below. Frank wasn’t the issue. As far as coaching. LeBron put his general manager shoes on and just completely destroyed their defense by ripping away Carouso, rondo, Kuzma, Casey P, JaVale McGee. For what? For a bunch of 30+ old dudes who don’t know how to play defense. Including you LeBron.
Just happy all the buddy-buddy players are losing this season. Finally we gonna get two straight months of no Lakers coverage. Hopefully Nets follow up
Yea there are tons of plays where Lebron just walks around in defense. Sometimes he doesn't even come back to defense even when jogging back to defense was enough.
Like if you brought a chick to a game that don't know much she would never in a million years believe he was a former MVP...padded triple doubles or not
I'm sorry but effort is how much you want it as a individual. You can try and blame it on LeBron if you want but I'd ask by your example why did the Lakers have players with Kobe that gave little effort.
@@theonemvp5599 I’d say that when the Lakers were bad during Kobe’s tenure it was more the result of lack of talent than lack of effort. A ton of guys who no one expected much from, playing down to expectations. I’d say the same thing about the super young Lakers during Bron’s first season in LA. They played hard, just weren’t very good yet. The same can’t be said about this year’s squad.

@@trufan7358 based on what you said you’re are either lying or you’re suffering from amnesia. Lebron many times has been both dominant and clutch taking over whole 4th quarters, locking down offensive stars and hitting big time shots. He definitely has been as clutch as MJ and Kobe

Lakers blame this season
15% bron
30% ad
30% russ
10% Vogel
10% rest of the team
5% front office
Seems like pretty reasonable percentages for each one, I can agree with this.
But Vogel the first guy out smh
I know most people would dismiss this. I’ve coached LeBron from his early years. He was the nicest kid that every kid on the squad gyrated around him. I watched him become one the worst persons you wanted to be around. I believe some of these players are seeing what I’ve noticed about this young man. And is not playing to their potential. Please look at all these players that has joined teams with LeBron and watch how their play shrank. Then they go to another team and play out their minds. I call it the LeBron Effect. His attitude can easily rub you the wrong way. It’s the one thing about him I can’t stand. His head is huge. One day I ran into him, excited to see him and he intentionally ignored me. I’m still proud of his accomplishment, but that one aspect is enough to stand back and make you wonder about this younger teammates. I think his style is rubbing teammates the wrong way, including AD. My opinion. We’re from Akron and that’s our boy, good or bad!
Yooooo!!!! The Paula Patton comment got my crying!
5 top 75 players on the team. You didn't make the playoffs? No one's going to be accountable? You give him all the credit. When they win. He deserves the blame. When they lose. Y'all LeBron sympathizers! Give me a headache!
Shannon got him with the bubble analogy as always 💯💯
Yeah he got him there
Not really
Lakers eliminated! You love to see it!
If the Lakers want to save their future quickly they should part with LeBron and AD asap. Otherwise this is how they'll play as long as LeBron and AD are there. They're not a playoff team no matter who they get around them.
A losing record should disqualify your team from the playoffs
Of course the blame has to be put on LBJ. He has to be held accountable. Missing games when his teammates need him. Remember in 2012-2013 season Kobe guaranteed the Lakers would make the playoffs and what did he do took over the whole second half of the season that year, unfortunately he tore his Achilles but they still made the playoffs.
Lebron brought this energy upon himself when he declared himself the GOAT. He’s not, but claiming so has brought on the comparisons.
Had he remained humble, with enough time and the right support he’d have a better argument.
lmao but it’s alright when mj calls himself black jesus
@@aligreaper1941 MJ didn’t call himself that, Larry Bird said he was like god in tennis shoes. People started calling him Black Jesus after that… a derivative of his original nickname, Black Cat!
@@bzso9603 lmao so confidently incorrect, mj is on record calling himself black jesus, so tell me again what’s worse, calling yourself a literal messiah, or having confidence and calling yourself the goat
Now we can end the goat debate. Mj is the goat period
50% Lebrons fault 50% front office for letting Lebron get the acquisitions he did 😂
That's correct and fair
Throw in Lebron stat padding instead of playing defense and trying to win and Lebron gets 80% of the blame.
@@facelessandnameless his defense isn’t any worse than 2020 and look how they did in 2020 first seed in the west so it’s just that the team just sucks and AD being out for ages doesn’t help either
@@derbyking8475 nice excuses
lebron was 25-31
Lebron deserves a lot of blame. AD is not a point guard.. he doesn’t decide when he gets the ball. Lakers won when lebron averaged 10 assists. This season lebron took the second most field goal attempts he’s ever taken in his career. When lebron is not playing AD and Westrbook plays better. All he’s been doing for the last few months is chase Kareem.
