This doesn't seem so histrionic now. Anton is incredibly insightful.

Maybe so but his followers are disillusioned by the 'Art of the Con'. Kinda scary that 'smart' people like Anton are shilling for a complete failure of a human being.

Anton is the pre-eminent mainstream intellectual of this moment. This is as real as it gets for the conservative right who will likely try to wreck Anton. Read this. He is 100% correct, why do people have to physically come to America when America could simply extend its border around the world?
“In sum, America is for the Americans-just as France is for the French, India for the Indians, Israel for the Israelis, Japan for the Japanese, Mexico for the Mexicans, and each of the world’s countries for its particular people. That’s not to say, necessarily, that America should never take in immigrants-though I personally think that, after fifty-five years and at least ninety million newcomers and their descendants, a moratorium is warranted, not least in order to assimilate this latest wave. It is to say that America is not the common property of all mankind, that every one of the world’s nearly eight billion people is not “more American than the Americans.” If everyone in the world is American-actually or potentially-then no one is. The logic of immigration absolutism leads to its own unraveling: in insisting on the universality of Americanness, it strips Americanism of all distinction or meaning. The ruling class welcomes that outcome. Have any of the “conservatives” thought it through?"

It is hard to express how important this interview with Anton is. I have forwarded to friends. Unfortunately, the hardcover is prohibitively expensive and can't afford it. Appreciate with much gratitude Claremont and the American Mind team and their new podcast/video media effort. American Mind needs much more higher profile and attention. Really, now it is only American Mind, Commentary, National Review, American Thought Leaders, Federalist, Examiner/Mag Men, Glenn Loury/McWhorter for serious political podcasts especially during this national political crisis.

    • @michaeltaylor5451

You bring up a good point about how prohibitively expensive the book is. Just to be clear, if people like Anton truly gave a s**t about you and actually believed the BS they write, they would make their writings freely available. I encourage everyone to spend their hard-earned money to help this poor shill fund his next mansion, yacht, or Mercedes.

Well, I read 'The Coming Coup' for free on the American Mind website and several other of his articles. And frankly, even Jacobin has a subscription rate. Also, he is not at all a shill, he's very thoughtful and grounded. Also, the lion's share of the profits from book sales go to the publisher, not the writer. After such an interview I'm surprised anyone, even someone as handsome as you, with your swarthy look and great smile, would use the word 'shill' to describe him.
      (And yes, I'm a dude.)

a two parties system like the one the US had works until the society is
homogenous. The Us are no more
homogenous. A possible solution would be to reform the system in the way of a proportional representation. Maybe less effective, but able to mitigate tensions in the society. If not, secession or war.

I listened to this hoping to get some information that would help me understand the conservative/republican side. But I got the same misrepresentation that you blame the left for. For example, your focus on the Floyd George case--you talk about the criminal record of George and the fact that he was high on multiple drugs which is no secret, the papers did not leave that out. But you do not talk about the issue for so many people, that Chauvin, backed up by three officers, chose to remain kneeling on George long after he was subdued, ultimately killing him. That's the problem. It is immaterial what state and who George was. It was the conduct of the police that mattered. And the NY Time and NPR covered that. The job of the police is to bring people to the place of justice, not to mete out justice. And that is what the press is covering. The problem is that black people are not free to walk, run, drive without fear of the police. That they might be killed, true, but also that they will be harassed, arrested wrongly, accused wrongly. The issue is that black people are targeted by haters and killed, harassed, harmed. Look at the runner killed in Georgia. Look at the birder in Central Park. Look at the kids wrongly convicted of murder of the Central Park jogger (and who took out a full page ad in The NY Times to vice his opinion that they were guilty with no trial, no information but what he'd read in the press and his own instinct-yes Donald Trump). You can not deny that there is a racism problem in this country, that it has continued despite rights being accorded to black people a very long time ago, and that people are tired of the perpetuation of it. Maybe the press is bringing the stories to light, but that's because there is absolute wrong that needs to be brought to the light. Why is the press not allowed to do that without criticism from the right? Isn't it time for the minorities to get their fair share of publicity?

I kind of doubt your sincerity, as it looks like you're using Floyd as an excuse to NOT take seriously the views of conservatives. But IF you are sincere, let me offer this analogy: You have a female friend named "White Hetero Male" who is in a clearly abusive relationship with a partner named Democratic Party, or "Dem" for short.
Over years, you watch Dem blame W.H.M. for everything wrong in the world. Dem makes demand after demand, which W.H.M. gives into, hoping to satisfy Dem's seemingly endless list of grievances. But it never works. Instead, you see that Dem gets emboldened, accusing your friend of being THE Problem that needs to be solved.
Now Dem is demanding W.H.M. empty her bank account to pay reparations for past wrongs, with threats to "tear down" or "burn down" everything W.H.M. holds dear, and even defaces public icons as proof of Dem's earnest intent. At what point will you admit your friend is dealing with a sociopath and urge her to get away from that maniac?
As for Floyd, the Left never admits that many/most on the Right also wanted Chauvin charged, and that the system did hold him accountable. "But hey, let's burn Portland and Minneapolis, anyway."
