Why I love Malaysia Airlines Business Class

  • Why I love Malaysia Airlines Business Class. It can be summed up in one word and one dish - Satays!
This was my first Malaysia Airlines flight since the pandemic and I was keen to see if they were still the same good old reliable Malaysia Airlines as they have always been - offering great value business class with friendly personalised service. And of course I wanted to reconnect with my favourite dish in the sky - Malaysia Airlines iconic satay service.
Malaysia Airlines has been serving satays in business class for as long as I remember and whilst other airlines may try to copy none of them have ever come close to the deliciousness of the Malaysia Airlines Satay!
This Malaysia Airlines business class review is a full flight review of the entire Malaysia Airlines premium experience from the lounge right through to the onboard experience.
Join me and we'll do it together.
Here's the link to that Oman Airlines business class I refer to in the video: • Oman Air Business Clas...

pleasantly surprised that after all the luxury caviar and lobsters that you've tried in the sky, the humble and modest satay remains your favourite dish.

@@syedputra5955 Read an analyst who observed that its trickier for full-service airlines to thrive in Malaysia than low-cost ones as the country isn't as big an international business hub & thus attracts less business travellers than, say, Singapore, while its population is also more price-sensitive

    • @syedputra5955

@@lzh4950 if that is the case, they should focus on smaller planes. I believe, after two tragedies, brunei airlines carried more passengers on the kangaroo route than MAS, which at that time was using the A380.
Kota Kinabalu can be turned into a hub for flights betwen china and Australia for example. But nobody at MAS is interested unless it flies from KL.

I flew them back from London to Australia when Australia finally opened their borders back up. Malaysia was still locked down and KL airport was all but closed when I transited, but despite all that it was still an amazing flight and I was very impressed. 10/10 would fly with them again!

I remember flying MH from MEL-KUL back in 2017, when I boarded I was offered champagne, jokingly I asked the flight attendant to leave the bottle - she said “I’ll do you one better” I replied “what’s better than a bottle?” To which the response from the flight attendant responded “I’ll make sure your glass isn’t empty.” 5 hours into the flight I’d passed out 😂

On my recent few flights to Doha coming from the US, they didn't make go through transit security in Doha. Just entered the departure lounge, and went to my next flight. When I flown from Germany to Doha, you still had to go through transit security. Though on my way back to the US they still have those pre departure gates that is additional to the transit security for people coming from other parts of Africa/Asia.
Security screening at the gate I find it such a drag, as you just want to get on the plane and get seated and be at your destination in a blink of an eye lol.

I flew last week. A330 J class. No welcome champagne. Small peanut bag. The small storage cabinet will not open and locked my passport, eye glasses and smartphone. Only 1 WC in front and floor was wet. The 2nd toilet offered at the back was permanently closed. No 2nd satay offer. No Fruits offered in main meal. Not sure if I just had bad coincidence in this flight. No hot tee due not turbulence. It left me wondering when I reached Doha but enjoyed the QR Qsuite on the next connection.

It's been some years now since I flew MH J, mainly due to the miserly SC earn on QFF - so I thank you for reminding me what I've missed!! Some interesting changes in the soft products: champagne now served pre-take off (back in 2010 it was only served once airborne) and satays have moved from being an entree to every meal to a snack on their own ... and I think the MH satays are superior to those of SQ! A quick question, Dennis, MH used to serve both chicken and beef satays, it may be just the colour on your camera but it looks like they only had the beef available??

Unfortunately it appears that you have become too successful because every two minutes there is an ad break usually for google something or the other which breaks up the video into small segments which becomes very frustrating. Are you able to arrange for smaller ad blocks of longer duration so we can enjoy more continuity ? Apart from that you are very informative and helpful thanks

I’ve been flying MAS since the early 90s. When I studied in Melbourne, I did this exact flight almost 4-5 times a year on business class. What’s unfortunate is that it has declined in quality over the years in terms of seat design and in flight food (except for the satay of course - which I rate much better than SIA). Crew has always been amazing and I’ve been on flights where they’re almost apologetic when it comes to food they are forced to serve. These new business class seats do look slightly better, but honestly, not up to current standards.
I remember the days when MAS used to be up there along with SIA in terms of quality. Bad management and corruption over the years has led to the decline. Even the peanuts had inflated cost prices due to multiple executives taking kickbacks from suppliers.
The lounge looks like they’ve done a good face lift since the last time I was there, which is good.
Nowadays, if I need to get to Australia, I’ll fly through Singapore.

Love Malaysia Airlines and we are flying next month. But how can satay work on a plane? You need to go to Penang - New Lane food court where it’s grilled over hot coals fanned by the cook. Amazing!!!

    • @xxxDeaDLocKxxx
      @xxxDeaDLocKxxx ปีที่แล้ว +4

It won’t beat a good freshly-grilled version, but in-flight dining is intrinsically compromised. And given that context, MH’s satay really is genuinely good (and they do have a dedicated kitchen with charcoal grills to prep them before they make it onto the plane).
PS - Kajang is the home of satay in Malaysia, and you’re likely to find the best among some of the better known options in the area. There’s no need to go to Penang (though of course it has its own home specialties outside of satay!).

Had a bad experience with MA, we were delayed 15 hours at KL because they didn't have a pilot for our plane, anyway the ground crew told us to go through the boarding area where there was no toilets or water, my wife asked one of the staff "when will we be boarding?" "oh mam this plane is going nowhere for at least 10 hours".
Luckily we were flying BC and could get into the 24 hour lounge, we tried to get a hotel room at the airport but they were all booked so it was the lounge.
I used to really enjoy MA but this put us off flying with them again, just the total lack of communication from the ground crew.

      Hi ...
Seat 1K has its TV console stowed under the seat
Pull it out and upwards to view

I also travelled business class, however the interior was dirty and the crew were average. Fortunately my company paid for the flight.

Good review Sir. Better than Non-Stop Dan who is getting very cocky and far too critical. Cabin crew do not particularly like him.

Non-stop Dan is a vegetarian and could never give Satays or any inflight meals a proper review. Just don't watch his channel like many of us. Don't know why TH-cam algorithms keep pushing his videos
