I'm 61now and i still remember when iwas 8 years old having our family holiday's in Rothesay . Believe it or not i actually suffered sun stroke one year we were on the island ! My da took me to play golf at the Canada Hill course and it was magical We stayed in Montague St and the chips were in newspaper wrappings and we got our ice cream from a local factory , freshly made ... The fabulous innocence of youth . Memories shall stay with me forever and ever !
Thanks for posting ,, I really enjoyed your post, I was born there and it was so nice to see the places I frequented when I was a wee boy in the early fifties. I've been in Canada for many years and I have visited Scotland a number of times. The highlight of my visit is the lovely drive down to Colintraive then the wee ferry over to Rhubodach and on to Rothesay. Certainly a different ( and delightful ) view from a drone ,, thanks again.
I was born there in the early 60s, I can still remember how busy Rothesay was in the summer. The lights at night near the putting green and Winter Gardens. Grew up in Ballochgoy, that was some hill as a child.
It is a lovely place and property prices can be very reasonable dependent on where on the island you wanted to stay. Its a friendly place and the locals make you very welcome. The music festival Butefest is fantastic im told. Ive got more Bute videos planned from the other side of the island including the shortest ferry ride in Britain. I hope you'll come back and watch them. It'll show you another side to Bute that is even more beautiful
