      I'm too poor to do this, but sort of a frosted one of behind you on your entire setup when you're afk, and one with bright lighting with a switch below your face for horror things, like you have a flashlight under your face at a campfire.

    I've used both Elgato and Magewell cards. Two advantages to Magewell cards. 1) Magewell cards will capture the most screwed up not-to-spec HDMI signals that Elgato cards have no hope in hell of figuring out. This works great for all sorts of retro hardware which may use adaptors that aren't quite to HDMI spec. 2) Magewell cards can be simultaneously read by more than one copy of OBS running at the same time. I will use one copy of OBS to stream with all my overlays, and a second copy of OBS to record clean game footage for use later. None of my Elgato cards can feed two copies of OSB at the same time.

      keep in mind that this capture card has input only, but for a console is easy fix with just getting a 15$ hdmi signal splitter, where that hdmi box takes the signal and basically duplicates it, so one can go to your tv and the other to the camlink pro, did that on a regular camlink as a test and worked pretty well.

    2-4 consoles -> PC -> multiview on 4K TV = Local split screen multiplayer for games that don't have it otherwise, while recording each user's gameplay simultaneously at 1080p 60FPS (or an overall 4K scene to record the multiview, given that footage can be cropped in editing to 1080p for each corner anyway).

    While I'm not looking to stream much these days, I do have a use case for multiple camera views as I am a modeller and miniatures painter so having a top down view of my work area, a side view for close in work and a face view for talking head sections are what I curreently have planned. I don't have 4K capable cameras, just 1080p - all existing gear I picked up cheap. I was going to grab a camlink for the SL2 anyway, but using a PCIe slot instad of a USB input is far more to my liking as I have a static set up and do not need the portaility of the camlink.
    I'll be interested to see how this compares as an option to the ATEM Mini Pro (the ATEM Mini does not have actual multiview) or the Feelworld Live Pro AM-100 which are 4 x 1080p HDMI inputs. In the case of the ATEM mini Pro, it integrates well with the Rodecaster which is what I use for my podcast.
    Certainly a lot of food for thought here, and the timing is actually perfect as the ATEM Mini Pro or the LivePro were under serious consideration as a purchase in the next 8 weeks,

  • @RingoFreakingStarr
    @RingoFreakingStarr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with the idea of having at least one input do 4k@60hz/1440p@144/120hz. As someone that games on their primary PC at 1440p@144/120hz and has multiple camera setups (I do racing streams so a chest cam, foot cam, and a sort of isometric cam), this product does seem pretty perfect...minus not being able to send my PC video signal to my second PC at the resolution and refresh rate that I want to. Currently I use NDI to send my primary PC's desktop to the secondary PC which works great, but I'd much rather have a capture card in the second PC to send a much more clear video signal. Right now, I use a HD 60 Pro, a Cam Link, and a PS EYE USB camera to get the 3 camera sources to my secondary PC.
    As you said, I'll be waiting for a mk.2 version of this product in which I REALLLLLY hope there is at least one port that can do the bandwidth needed to accept a 1440p@144/120hz signal.

    I know something like a capture card is different from an ATEM Mini in the fact that one lives in your computer and the other is an outboard piece of gear, but if your primary need is the ability to switch between four cameras at 1080/60p at once, an ATEM Mini ($300) still seems like a much better deal, no? Assuming you've got enough desk space and want the physical switcher capabilities...

  • @MostermindTech
    @MostermindTech 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This really isn’t a bad option for a do-it-all capture card. If you want to capture gameplay with it from a console, for example, you could just get a low-latency HDMI splitter, capture one output, and plug the other into your monitor/TV. I use a Camlink knockoff without a splitter for capturing SNES Classic gameplay and it’s totally playable right in the OBS preview window.

    If you don't need UHD and 1080p60 is enough, the ATEM mini seems like a better solution to me since it also offers an HDMI out, hardware controls, YUV 4:2:2, 10-bit color, and the ability to control it remotely by plugging it into the network. In the end it comes down to PCIE vs External.

    I see this being really good for sim racers. One camera on the pedals, one on the steering input and one on there face like a normal stream. Or just making it all side by side to have a 3 wide set up to show people what they see.

    I already own a Blackmagic DeckLink Quad HDMI Recorder, but damn the Cam Link Pro is interesting. The compatibility with the Stream Deck is like having a Blackmagic ATEM Mini with more functions. Now I wouldn't mind four 4K60 inputs for a bit more money (and would be ready to upgrade in a few years) just for the stream deck integration. Good job Elgato.
    (btw the motorized dolly shot is probably made by something from Edelkrone)

    I can see this been purchased by people using multiple 1080p consoles and a decent camera, as its cheaper to buy decent hdmi splitters than it is to buy decent hdmi switches, and not have to worry about the lack of passtrough, as the splitter handles that aspect.
    Probably make a good experiment for you with this new cam link card in all honestly, testing the cam link pro like that along side the traditional way of capuring everything else on multiple single devices; and see if it works without issues. Could allow people a route to a great upgrade for less outlay if it does. After all, most people still dont need 4k for streaming or content creation. Especially in regards to Twitch streaming.

    What if you needed 8 inputs and you wanted to use 2 cards? Are there views available to see all 8 inputs at the same time? Some mix and match inputs where one camera is PNP to a screen located on the other card? Can you preview all sources at the same time while recording a separate view?
    FYI. this is for a 4 computer, 4 cameras, and 4 gamers on one stream. Yes unique but I also think the new HQ might be looking for a solution like this.

    Vaguely interested in what could be done with four cameras side-by-side and positioned with a slight wrap-around as to capture the subject from multiple angles like 3D glasses (but four points rather than two).
    .---P---.
    1 2 3 4
    Implication being that a VR user could watch someone's content and rotate around the subject left and right (with the software switching from L1R2, L2R3, L3R4 depending on which way the viewer is looking at the subject).
    Alternatively cameras 2&3 capturing the 3D detail of the subject from the front, while 1&4 are offset further to wrap around and make a live 3D model of the person. Then the VR viewer is actually seeing a 3D model that is textured by the detail captured by each camera in real time (main details being captured by 2&3, side details by 1&4, and software eg DLSS to fill in the rest of the model).
    For some reason I think this would be especially cool to watch makeup tutorials in VR, with the guru in 3D and the side cameras capturing extra detail that might be missed when a brush is covering the angle from the middle cameras.
    My brain is weird like that.
