Your test car must be produced before 11/2023? After that you have the new OS9, as well the new grill in the front. With OS9 you have the shortcut for seat heating fixed already. I did not get your point with one Paddel driving. I use the setting adaptive cruise control once and as long as I activate ACC the car will always do the right thing, in city traffic to the full stop when cars are stopping or at red lights. If i drive w/o active ACC it will not stop 100% but then you simply snip the gear changer backwards one time to be in B Mode to stop completely if you are to lazy to lift your foot to the break😄. For me this system works great and I do enjoy that I do not have to have my foot on the pedal when driving w/o ACC activated like with Teslas who will break as soon as I lift my foot off the pedal. It is just so much more comfortable when the car knows itself when it can roll free and when to regenerate. That was one thing out of many not to buy a Tesla for me.
Thanks for this info. Yes, my week with it was late October/early November 2023. I've got the iX3 on loan for the next week, so I'll be sure to try your suggestions.
@@chrisvanderstock I don‘t think that my comments are valid for the IX3 as this is the „old“ OS version which is different to OS9 and still has the IDrive controller. OS9 will be introduced with the „New Class“
Booked an iX1. Could you suggest a website where this is clearly explained? I see a lot of promotors of the car but not ones who have actually driven this way. Appreciate it
This colour 'Sanremo Green' is not currently available on the M Sport trim, only on this model in the video xLine trim. The M sport in this colour would have been really nice. Thanks for the video.
Great video! Little comment on the color, which you say is Cape York Green, this is not correct. This is a different color called Sanremo Grun (=Green).
Thanks Chris Excellent review as usual !! Is there maybe some regulatory reason why cars can't retain 1-pedal driving when switching from forward to reverse and back. Do any do that right now?
I have no clue why it isn't a thing. Most car brands don't default to it, so maybe regulations? I heavily critised MG for it (MG4 Excite video out today, and Essence video in a few weeks). When I got a chance to speak with MG last year, I did share this frustration which they kindly responded with, "we're looking into it".
Thanks! I've got the iX3 on loan for the next week, so I'll share some fun content around it - and espeically make note that prices change (was recorded in November 2023 when they had a sale I think).
Fascinating! Thanks Chris. I’m going to try to grab one for a test drive. It seems a wee bit cramped compared to the Model Y - I’ll be interested in seeing what it is effectively like. I just checked out prices - starting at $94,000 . . . ?
this is the top spec version, the lower specs don't have electric seats, hud, driving assistance, 360 camera, sunroof, etc prices maybe reasonable at the bottom but equipment levels are poor.
Is it under LCT threshold fully loaded? I've been looking at the iX3. Both great cars though, Thanks for the review! Edit: Looks like the Enhancement Package may take it over LCT threshold. Also have to say that I love the San Remo Green!
I got it just under the LCT with the dual motor and enhancement package. I had to haggle them down $600 though (I wouldn't buy the car in single motor or without the enhancement package, told them I'd just go get a XC40 if they couldn't play ball). I don't think there's any chance of getting a iX3 under the LCT though. Unless you had one with absolutely no features. Keep in mind that that car is also super old now and due for a full model update.
Thanks, my brother in VIC is thinking of taking the EV leap end of 2024. Current shortlist is VW ID.4 Pro RWD (arriving in Oz end of 2024) and BMW iX1, will look at both FWD and AWD options. Most of my brothers trips are 75km, one way and then 75km return; 4 days a week. The thinking is that an EV is perfect for this scenario.
@@Richard-sl8we yep it makes sense. I'm just hoping it all works in reality like it does on paper. There are better alternatives technically to the iX1 in terms of range and speed. But I chose it because it was such a nice place to spend time.

Have you tested the FWD iX1 20e spec?
That's the Sanremo green and not the cape york one, btw.
Are you sure? I'm certain it was the correct colour. Either way, it was quite fetching but the chrome needed to go!
@@chrisvanderstock yes. I work for BMW. You can Google both and see the difference. I really like that sanremo green. One of my fav colours.
How does the seat comfort compare to tesla y?
Does it do auto overtaking?
Great review! How is the range on the motorway? How many kms? Cheers.
At 100-110 km/h, about 360kms on a full charge.
Thanks for that . Great review.

Which variant is this?

Yes but is the BMW the best ev car on a first date?
LOL!
I would say yes, open the sunroof -> space is unlimited😉
It's got STALKS......so it's a contender to start with.
Tesla couldn't fix the sudden speeding problem I had in my M3 RWD LFP.
Thanks but I think I'll keep my X3M Comp'😂
U need a better cameraman 📷
