How about an entire park that's gone? Astroworld in Houston. You could maybe follow where the major rides (Excalibur, Greased Lightning, Texas Cyclone, etc.) went... Whether it was to other parks or scrap. I spent so many hours there growing up and I'd love to know if any of the rides are still around somewhere.
Only the park's Vekomas are still in operation today. Serial Thriller is now Ednor: The Ride at La Ronde, Canada. Mayan Mindbender is now Hornet at Wonderland in Amarillo,TX. Texas Tornado operated at Parque Temàtico, Mexico as Tsunami from 2008 until it was scrapped in 2014. XLR-8's trains are now used on Ninja at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Greezed Lightning's trains are set to be added to Silver Bullet at Frontier City,OK for the 2018 season. All other rollercoasters were either destroyed on the Astroworld site in 2005 or moved into storage elsewhere in the country; never to be reassembled.

A friend of mine knew the people who were contracted to build the sets for Superstar Limo, apparently Disney never paid the bill and claimed they should've been honored to work on a Disney ride.
This brings back memories of waiting in the Disney hotel room watching the channel that previews all the rides and shows while your parents take forever to get ready.
We had the Disney travel planner VHS that the Pleasure Island clip at 5:14 is from and I was thinking about it while watching that episode! Watching this series has made me want to rewatch that tape so badly but I have no clue where to find it online now. Seeing that as a kid I couldn't wait til I was old enough to go to the Pleasure Island clubs but sadly I never got to :(

Actually, that Kongfrontation footage is from the 1989 movie The Wizard and is from the now defunct King Kong Encounter on the Universal Studio Tour in Hollywood. Note the tram in the show building is completely different from the Roosevelt Island Tram guests usually ride in

I seen one of the Defuncted rides from my home park, Kings Island, Days Of Thunder. I miss that ride.. the building is now just used for 2 haunted houses. Such a waste
There was a Days of Thunder at Carowinds, too, and honestly I'm kind of glad they finally put the building out of its misery. The first time they replaced the movie was 007-themed and it worked pretty well, but it was all downhill from there, and the building never did stop smelling like a speedway. I think they finally demolished it a few years ago when they expanded the water park section.

I was born in 82, and grew up in southern California. My family could only afford a trip to Disneyland every few years. I can count on my hands how many times we went. I've gone way more as an adult who loves Disneyland and saves up for an annual trip once a year than I ever did as a kid. Don't get me wrong. I'm grateful and realize that's way more often than most. But I do often wish I could have seen Walt Disney World in the 80's/90's. I'm still hoping for a WDW trip someday. Was hoping for my honeymoon, but the husband and I weren't able to afford it. Maybe for our five year anniversary.
