Is XAL'ATATH actually AZEROTH?! - Speculation Lore

  • Some ideas popped into my head when gathering some of the information on the War Within and beyond from blizzcon 2023. In this video I wonna throw out 2 ideas.
    One: Xalatath is a corrupted part of Azeroth's soul
    Two: Xalatath has been manipulating events in the background, like the jailer, to get something happening. ... I hope you'll enjoy ^_^

      @@malphasblackwing420 Yeah its all confusing now with the lore
      Titans = Eternal Ones which dont make sence since the Eternal Ones were created and the titans were born- Eternal ones power seems limited where the titans could cut worlds in half.

    You should revisit the Northrend Nerubians, since it was confirmed we are going back there. The Nerubians inside one of those two dungeons, or the ones guarding the dungeon's entrance (where we kill Anub'arak), they mention an entity that they worship. At that time we assumed it was Yogg-Saron, but it could also be Xal'atath. And since she will empower the Nerubians, I would say maybe Nerubians always worshiped her and were maybe created by her, and not Yogg-Saron

    • @pepparmostheelder
      @pepparmostheelder 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I doubt that will be the case. So first the Nerubians were Aqir long before. They didnt diverge untill one part of the Aqgir population were isolated in the north close to Yogg'sarons prison and over time they diverged in their evolution creating a visually distinct race - just like how the Mantid and Qiraji changed over time because they were isolated close to the energies of other old gods ( Yshaaraj and Cthun respectivly). Its certainly not an impossible change to make but it just makes little sense and doesnt really add anything. Its more interresting to make Xal'atath into something completely different from the Old gods - which I also think Blizz will since she lacks even basic characteristics of the old gods outside of being a force related to the void. Its just a bit of an odd change since Yogg'saron and his saronite blood bleeding all into northrend is already established and to then turn around and say "oh ignore all that. The Nerubians changed for completely other reasons even though they are in basicly the same situation that the Qiraji and Mantid were".
      Thats not to say that the Nerubians might not turn to her now - given that Yogg'saron is dead and they want to rebuild and she is after all somehow connected to the old gods. Personally I think they will try and expand the forces of the void and make her into something very different and something that will shape the future rather than be revealed as something that were working behind the scenes all this time.

    That was another thing what made Legion so great. You WANTED to play all classes. You didnt just want to grind endgame, but experience all the stories collecting all the weapons while getting story content, which directly tells past and creates new world building.
    And needless to say: Xalatath was the most memorable weapon, especially with her whispers teasing you. Sure there was the one arcane mage weapon, but it didnt even come close. And ofc getting her a hot void elf body during BFA sold it for good. I never understood why Shadowlands wasnt primarily about Bwondsami and her instead of well a crappy Thanos. -.- Imo DF is a "Filler Arc" - btw having the same issue with missing back stories as SL had - and I really hope theyre getting back to the follow up of Legion.

    • @twiztedsynz
      @twiztedsynz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I gotta agree with the assessment of Legion. That was the only real expansion that had me wanting to play to max level every character type, so I could see all the story. Even Priest, which isn't a favorite class for me. If they can take what made Legion so great and put it into the next three expansions I think it'd be outstanding.
      As for the "Third Awakening"... if it really does 'usher in' the return of the Old Gods, then that's a great place to "Remake" WoW, revamp everything. Because everything would be revamped anyway.

    Azeroth is probably a sleeping/forming first one. I have a theory that the first ones are like Xel’Naga and that they created the Warcraft universe by sacrificing themselves.
    It’s possible that Titans are just failed first ones that awakened too early from their slumbers. This makes Azeroth a true first one and was likely created directly by the first ones to power the Zereth gates that were used to fuel the creation of the universe.

    Amanthul ripped him out. So she filled up the Claw of an Old God, became a Weapon. The essence then transfers to the Elven Body we know and witnessed.
    The Jailer has his Machines in the North near Ahn'kahet and Xal'atath in the South near Azj-kahet. There are definitely some parallels here. We have Earthens in both Locations as well.

    What if...... that old god whisper of "The Light has made a bargain with the enemy of all" is actually referring to the Titans as the enemy of all, from their perspective..... and that bargain between Titans and Light happened way back when the Titans arrived at Azeroth? What if there was a giant magical Light crystal which was visiting Azeroth and either crashed accidentally or maybe was attacked by old gods and fell apart then crashed with fragments piercing through the surface and ending up down deeper below. Some of those fragments could still have Light magic blazing bright. And then, when the Titans arrived to see the black empire, maybe they detected and found most of those Light fragments. Maybe the Titans communicated with the Light and made a deal....the Titans would build machines around and on top of those Light fragments to keep them safe, and the Light would allow their magic to be used for fighting off old gods. The big Yellow White Light magic laser in Uldum which can perform reorigination may just be a titan facility with a Light crystal fragment inside it that can be turned on or off. Similarly, other Light crystal fragments may exist in the Uldir and Ulduar facilities....and even within Uldorus. It was not lost on me that the Tyrhold facility has a Yellow White Light magic type of beam coming up out of the spire when they reactivated it. Not an Arcane beam, not an Arcane magic effect.....nope, yellow white Light. And what if....... the reason that reactivating the dragon oathstones and then having Alexstrasza try to activate the main Mother Oathstone did nothing........ is because that particular device is supposed to be powered by a Light crystal fragment deep down in Uldorus and all of those fragments are being tampered with and interfered with by Xal'atath and nerubians this whole time? As such, maybe the Light crystal fragment in Hallowfall underneath Khaz Algar didn't have an Uld facility built around it and that one is vulnerable to Xal'atath? So it is whispering for help from Anduin and Alleria..... with such whispers going to Anduin when it is in Light form, and going to Alleria when that crystal is in Shadow form?
    If all of the above is true....... it could also mean that if we help to stabilize or free the Light crystal fragments..... we could shut down all the Reorigination beams available on Azeroth and take that threat away from now on?

    I’m personally starting to wonder if Azeroth is even what we’ve been lead to believe by the Titans. What if, everything they’ve told us, was wrong? What if Azeroth isn’t a Titan soul at all? What if she’s literally like Azathoth, the god head, the one responsible for everything existing being the one who dreamt everything into existence. What if her mind held sway over everything, and that’s why the old gods wanted to corrupt her? Why the Jailer wanted to dominate her soul? Doing so would give them total control over all existence, would give the Void Lords dominance over everything, just as the Titans want total order. Even the fallen Titan wanted to destroy Azeroth, either thinking her a possible void Titan, or deemed it better to destroy all existence than to let the Void Lords take control.
    If this is the case, if her dreaming is what allows everything to exist, then letting her awaken may be the worst thing imaginable, because then everything winks out of existence. Poof, everything gone. Now this may not be the case, my just be total hogwash and Azeroth is just a very powerful Titan soul. This may be just a very wild idea, lol. but Azeroth sounds so much like that of the so called Idiot God from Lovecraft Mythology. Heck, so many of the Old Gods are inspired by the Great Old Ones and Outer Ones, wouldn’t be surprised if Azeroth is inspired by Azathoth in some way. Would definitely explain why so many factions are fighting over her, being the very heart of all existence. Whomever controls the universe’s core, controls everything.

    Xal'atath is not Azeroths dark half, she is a twin planet that never got to be and was swallowed by the void: In the beginning they were two world souls orbiting one another and Xal was devoured, so it is Azeroths sister who hate Azeroth because she was allowed to live, develop and all that. Maybe she thinks killing Azeroth will be justice so they both suffer (how dare azeroth be happy when xal had to suffer) or she believes killing azeroth creates a void (lol) where she can replace azeroth.

    I am no longer confident in saying that the voice is the azeroth world soul. Considering how deceptive some of the last cinematics have been.....I think that may be some misdirection. The cinematic for announcing dragonflight deceived us about titans and the isle itself. The cinematic for shadowland with sylvanas and bolvar definitely deceived us about what the helmet means and what the shadowlands mean and what sylvanas was going to do there. And the cinematic for bfa most assuredly deceived us with sylvanas yelling horde but irrefutably not caring about any horde. Therefore, yes....I agree that the cinematic is trying to deceive you into believing that the voice we hear is the azeroth world soul. But I don't think it is showing or proving any such thing. Here is my alternative speculation to try and stay consistent with what we see in that cinematic.
    I think........that maybe the voice they are hearing is actually a mind inside that big giant crystal we see in Hallowfall. Maybe not necessarily a naaru.....but a being capable of existing inside a large crystal; sure. And I think that mind is alternating back and forth between Light and Shadow. Maybe not on purpose, and maybe not what the mind wishes....but it could be happening anyway. And I think the voice speaking to Anduin and Thrall is that crystal mind during the times when it is manifesting Light. I also think that very same crystal mind is the source of the voice which Alleria Windrunner hears.....but Alleria is only hearing it at the times when the crystal mind manifests shadow. I think that crystal mind had been in an equilibrium of switching Light and Shadow until recent years; when Xalatath arrived. I think it very possible that Xal'atath is making deals with the nerubians so she can gather black blood of old gods and maybe attempt to cover and dip the giant crystal in that black blood to force it to shift Shadow and stay Shadow forever. That may be her plan, and the crystal mind is trying to reach out to any heroes it can find to get help in stopping this plan. Where did this crystal mind come from originally? Well, here is my speculation.... maybe long ago either before the black empire, or during the black empire but before any Titans arrived..... some kind of Light Crystal creature tried to visit Azeroth but unfortunately fell apart when arriving and several different fragments of itself crashed down and pierced under the surface in several different spots on the planet. Since the being was injured, it might accidentally cycle from Light to Shadow based on whether some spirits of dead mortals pass nearby.....which was a similar phenomenon to what happened in Nagrand on Outland, and also within the seat of the triumvirate on Argus. Then.... when the Titans did arrive, maybe they detected those fragments and purposefully started building Uld- facilities on top of and/or to contain those fragments. And since those fragments may have still had Light magic capabilities, those facilities could have possibly focused and exploited those Light powers to create on-demand beams of Yellow Holy Magic.....a kind of magic that would be powerful enough to vaporize old gods and reoriginate new matter or new life to replace it. That has been one of the big confusions for fans....... if Titans are so aligned with arcane magic.....why do their big weapons seem to use large beams of seemingly Yellow Holy Magic...? Well this could be the answer.
    And no, I'm not saying there is no world soul inside Azeroth. I still think it is there, and it could even have a female mind; but I'm getting the impression that we haven't heard Azeroth yet, not even in this cinematic. As such, if Anduin pursues the voice that is calling him, he may find that Light Crystal Mind and somehow find courage within himself to call upon the Light and restore or release the Light Crystal Mind from where it is trapped. Anduin can turn whatever regret or bitterness he has about the domination situation..... into determination to do something ethically righteous and helpful using his own willpower now.

So from the looks of that cinematic he deliberately chose to stab Azeroth instead of cleaving the planet in two like he did with that one void corrupted planet with a world soul and other void touched planets I'm gonna assume as well. i wonder if he knew/knows something that maybe the other beings in the cosmology chart don't. We know that in the past at least partially Azeroth was infected by the void so it is quite possible that Azeroth has both light and void as part of herself. Like two sides to a same coin. In that vein, it could be possible that Xal'athath is a incarnation of the void part, which would also mean that there has to be the light side incarnation as well that we haven't yet encountered but likely will in the Last Titan or maybe even in Midnight with some hints showing up in The War Within. To that name, i think ''the War Within'' actually has a double meaning here as it may also refer to a struggle between the light and void side of Azeroth itself just as Aleria for instance has been experiencing the same struggle ever since she took the void into herself. In that vein, Aleria and her own struggle could also be a representation and/or reflection of Azeroth itself. This is why she gets different visions than everyone else, because she can relate to Azeroth more in that regard. Could totally be of base here though

Between that and the disappearing dwarf of Modgud, I smell time shenanigans. So with all the war that has happened over the ages, mostly with demons and fel (I.E war of the ancients and Legion) as well with all the war between mortal races. Could it be possible that the world soul might have been driven to madness?
    We know the titan must of felt everything happening on the surface, scaring it more and more, to the point it has come to this twist version of peace, once born looking to cleanse the planet of everything that has hurt it so much? I am not sure if it was because the world soul is such a power being, or was it the madness that has caused the voices and vision that thrall were seeing in the new trailer caused them pain. It's just an alternative look going off the trailer and all lore!

She was already like a super-eonar with the emerald dream, but without a titan of death and a direct connection to the shadowlands, she is both life and death. The light thrives on her surfaces, and yet she is also infected by the void via the old gods. Our piece of the universe is mainly usually defined by Light & Shadow. Both Moira's son and Alleria & Turalyon's son Arathor are described by it as well - I feel these connections are way too slim but they are there.. Shadowlands did bring one important piece of lore which was the First Ones (hate it or love it). If Azeroth is a First One - which is extremely likely imo, she would be the one of both Light AND Shadow. There used to be - we don't know where they went - multiple First Ones who built the Shadowlands, it's safe to assume many of them were aligned more with different types of magic & existence but since they are more primal, it's safe to assume they weren't as divided as the many realms of the universe are today. Life and Shadow used to be connected, it could very well be that Azeroth is a new - or old First One spirit of that connected nature. Or, she encompasses ALL of the major realms and types of magic there are. She is really powerful obviously, so different sides would want to nudge her developing spirit to their side - or straight up mold her into a form they desire - like the titans want her to be a child of Order, a titan, or the Old Gods & Void Lords, a Void Lord, etc. The Jailer (love hi or hate him - he was still badly developed but had potential to be cool - whatever) at least had a better idea and a more ambitious plan - with the access of the Sepulcher to instead of molding her, straight up using her First One essence (another piece of evidence that she is indeed a First One spirit - hence she could empower First One machinery of that scale & importance) to remake the whole of reality. Despite how Shadowlands turned out, I actually like that idea, and I think it's not far fetched at all.
    This is ofc speculation, but if it turns out to be the case, Xal'atath could very well be the Shadow-side or a piece of the Shadow side of her spirit. Very compelling theory and fits in with my First One thought (that many many others others have had too to be fair, it seems quite well telegraphed so far - but ofc it's not set in stone at all).

    I do not think xalatath is Azeroth, but she connected to Azeroth, though my theory is that there is 2 azeroths whitin, one light one dark, and they keep balance, but due to Sargeras sword, the dark side did for a while get more power, the reason N´zoth got free to begin with, but now again they are in balance, but due to everything and what Xalatath is doing the balance is again shifting more to the darkside winning, and this is why Anduin and Thrall can hear Azeroth calling again, and Alleria also, but due to her consuming a dark naru, she is more void and hears the dark side instead. I think that the idea is that when Azeroth is fully grown, the both sides would absorb eachother to be one titan, but if one side is stronger than the other it can become out of balance and not so good at all. this also meens Sargeras did a blunder, his main goal was to corrupt both sides so they joined him, but when he realiced he was failing he tried to hit the darks side, becuse the light side would have been the lesser evil, but he hit wrong one. Anduin and Thrall are most likely ment to be the ones helping the light side, where Xalatath and Alleria is ment to help the darks side, though alleria atleast from what we know has not yet atlest succumbed to the dark side.
