    Just got 6 of the SP1200 sample packs, thank you! 🙏 You are a true expert teacher.
    Is there any truth to re-sampling by going sp1200 out then back into sample input? Just wondering. Thx again for such a high level of quality always. :-)

      Thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻 well, you can't Sample directly from the Output, you'd have to record it to a DAW etc first. Plus, it sorta depends what Sound you're going for.. the effect of re-sampling might be cool on certain things, while not others. It'd definitely add some extra SP saturation though 👍🏼

    How would I take a hi hat from your 808 sample pack on B5 and copy it to D5? But have D5 editable? I tried, I basically deleted all the other sounds on the 808 pack but B5. Saved it to scratch.hfe, then copied B5 to D5. Then loaded B5 back onto itself. The copy isn’t being loaded. it’s just the link to B5 is being broken.

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's sorta the other way round. Save D5 to it's own Disk/Image. Load the 808 kit up, via Disk Module option #5. Then load D5 off the 'scratch' Disk/Image, via Disk Module option #6 👍🏻

    • @frankjamesbonarrigo7162

      @@tonelabqtI should have put it differently, it’s so simple ,
      you are breaking the link when you copy a sound and then use option 6, so I copy B5 to D5 , if I load B5 again with option 6 I can edit D5.

      @@tonelabqtconfusing is the load D5 part. How do I save just D5 to a scratch disk, there is no save sound option, only sounds. So I would have to delete the whole 808 sample pack to save D5 alone to the scratch disk right?

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right.. the only way of 'solidifying' the copy is to delete the original. If it's 'linked' you can't edit it.

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you delete the original, in your case B5.. D5 will become 'solidified', as such. Then, 'Save' the entire kit to a scratch Disk/Image.. then load D5, off the scratch disk, via option #6 into a new project 👍🏻

    Can you copy a sample to a new pad and delete the original? I swear it's how I used to do it to just move samples, but can't check atm.

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can copy sounds.. but you can't edit the copy as the copy refers to the original, however, in saying that.. if you delete the original.. the 'copy' then becomes 'editable' as it's no longer a 'copy' 👍🏼

      @@tonelabqt Thought so! yeah, when you load up your samples and want to make space, this is what i'd do. Tried it tonight and it worked.

  • @frankjamesbonarrigo7162
    @frankjamesbonarrigo7162 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is the new copy cutting off the other? Because they are assigned to the same output?

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Same Channel Assignment, yep 👍🏼

    Using the Rossum, I had a hard time following the disc swap aspect of this video and couldn't figure out how to get that to work. I WAS able to copy sounds without using the disc swap. I believe I just copied the existing sound to a new pad, and then loaded the sound to that same pad, which allowed me to independently truncate that new sound. Is the disc swap technic important only if you're low on space? If so, that would seem less important on the Rossum due to the extra 10 seconds. Or maybe I'm missing something all together.

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, the best way I can explain it is.. if you run the COPY function.. it doesn't create a COPY you can TRUNCATE, it just puts a 'link' to the first PAD/Sound that you copied. The Disk-swap technique, allows you to LOAD the SOUND back in so you, then, have a Copy you can Truncate 👍🏼

    • @JamBurglar
      @JamBurglar ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tonelabqt I seem to able to do this on the Rossum WITHOUT any disc swap. I'll try to jot down a step-by-step this weekend.

    Suce my stupidity. This has me confused. So are you sampling a sound that say took 1 second of RAM. Then making a copy of that sound so it doesnt take up another second of RAM. IE two identical samples for 1 second of RAM?

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Kinda yes.. but by default the 'Copy' feature will create a 'linked duplicate' to the original (of the copy). So this clip demonstrates how to get around that so you can 'edit' a copy 👍🏼

    • @MLochMusic
      @MLochMusic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tonelabqt hi thanks. So you basically have two samples for the ram price of one that you can edit separately? Ie different decays and volumes and such?

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ahh no.. you can have 2 for the price of 1.. but, if you wanna edit your '2nd', you have to run this trick 🙏🏻

    • @MLochMusic
      @MLochMusic 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tonelabqt Ah right. I thought that was too easy. Mind Im certain that an Akai I owned decades ago could copy to a unique self contained copy. Something like an S1000 perhaps.
      Was a superb feature. Unless I dreamed it all

    • @tonelabqt
      @tonelabqt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure.. the majority of Samplers didn't have this 'caveat' and some, like the ASR-10, allow for 'both'.. as in create 'physical' copies.. or duplicate 'by reference' to an original Sample 👍🏼

      Cheers mate 🙏🏻 yeah, I gotta agree with you.. it's not ideal, but in defense of ol' Bertha... it is from 1986.. not a lot at that time had anything by todays standards, but.. even this little trick, as modest as it is.. can be a life saver in some situations 🤓

      I saw a guy on youtube record his sample, saved it, copy it to another pad, delete the original sample and load it back up. Would that work?

      The SP12 Turbo was infinitely worse. 5-10 minute load time for 5 seconds of samples
