When drilling the holes do you go all the way through?

You totally can if you want. For this particular Donut Wall we did not. We used the Milescraft 1318 Drillmate Drive Guide to adjust the depth we wanted to go, which allowed us to not go all the way through. I hope that was helpful and answered your guestion!

Do you have to seal the paint to make it food safe? Or is the contact with food ok?

Great quesiton. The spray paint that we used from Rust-Oleum claims that their product is unleaded and are completely non-toxic when fully dry. You may want to consider purchasing a paint that says Food/Beverage Grade. OR somthing like Shellac which is a Food-Safe Film Finish. Either way, we recommend you let the paint sit for 30 days before using it at your event. Just so the paint really settles into the wood. I hope that helps!
