I like this format, traditional art more then digital art.

It's really helpful to know that even after 20 years of drawing, you still struggle with things sometimes. That gives me so much more confidence that "Practice makes perfect" and mistakes are ok.

Thanks for this, Robert. It's beautiful to watch your sketch evolve and I really appreciate the thoughtful dialogue that accompanies your drawing.

I love hearing your insight into how you approach and think about drawing. You talk specifically about certain techniques you do and I find that hard to come by, a lot of artists will talk about things not directly related to what theyre drawing and your narration is very well paired with what youre working on.

I love watching you draw. This was hypnotic. I really like how you plan out your drawing then erase it to find your lines.

I love your style and david finchs, and as a guy who also loves to draw (especially comic type art), I really enjoy the tutorials. Especially traditional and anything anatomy, gesture, dynamic, how to draw fights or rendering. I know you've done these types, but that's what I really like or your process when you have an assignment. Thanks for all the videos you've done so far!

I enjoy watching your videos. The tips you drop casually are super helpful and informative. I love your dry humor and tone. I watch all your videos and take notes consistently. Keep doing what you're doing and don't get discouraged by the algorithm of this platform.

You mentioned the amateur tendency to “over-render” - this is something I definitely struggle with, and my work lacks dynamism, and can look very heavy. Can you talk more about stylization, and how you decide what forms to omit, and how you make those design choices?
Also, I would love to see something taken from sketch to ink, maybe a multi-part set of videos?
Awesome work, and I look forward to seeing more!

I think I saw someone else mention this, but I have a really hard time simplifying things, especially if I'm using a reference. I used to help my kids with their art and now I find myself having to refrain from giving advice at times because their styles are closer to where I want to be, in regards to simplification. Long story short...a video on knowing where and when to hold back on detail would be great! I do manage to pull it off sometimes, and I love the feeling of satisfaction I get from it, but I'd like to be more consistent.
    Loved this video!

I enjoyed watching you draw the faces and discussing your process and thoughts about technique, even if other artists have done similar videos, it is nice to hear from a variety of artists on the same topic. Show us how you use reference, or how you draw specific scenes, objects or textures, show us your experimentations with other media that you are not as familiar with. I like all of those things when they are coming from skilled artists such as yourself.

I'm a huge fan. You've been a big part of my artistic journey.
My suggestion is to keep going with the traditional drawing videos. Digital is all well and fine, but it kind of sucks the romance out of the art.
So, thumbs up! Great video! You keep making them, and I'll keep watching them!

2 things I would like to see more 1: is you not speeding up your videos. YT can ad me all they want for Roberts stuff, I watch it all the way through.
2: I really struggle with using/seeing the negative space and using it. Maybe you have some tips to put in a video for seeing the negative space. Thanks coach!

Thank you for this video. As a matter of fact, that Banner drawing got me curious, what are the bases you set when drawing postures, or characters with intent? I don’t know if I explain myself correctly, but let’s say you are about to draw a character that is about to jump, or to run, to fly, whatever, do you stop and detail body language, facial expressions, something else?
And, yes, a “hair video” would be nice, as well. 😄

Thanks for the tips. I like the idea of create mood boards with artists art for head and faces, to have something easy to have to do quick practices. For Head and Faces do you know any artist with a "classic comic style" to recommend, to study? not too stylized.

Any tips on that? Your advice on learning from cartoonist and comic artists is good too so ill still keep mixing anatomy and artist studies together

I struggle with expressions and fluid facial structure for those expressions. I really like tip for sometimes less is more and find the reference of the facial structure you want to use not necessarily the EXACT expression. knowing Body Language and Expression tell Most of the story those are paramount to learn.

I am having a terrible time with my proportions! I can copy well but on my own, it comes out all wonky. I'd like to see more gothic horror art. It might sound stupid but I'd like to see how to draw skulls and werewolves where you mix animals, hair, scales, and human anatomy.

The biggest thing for me is drawing more realistic faces like comic book heroes(what I’m more going into). I was big in drawing dragon ball z and stuff like that but moving into more realistic space is harder. Faces have always been a issue as lip eyebrows eyes all have a more realistic look to them so I struggle. I just got finished drawing Wonder Woman and the body is super proportionate but the face isn’t my favorite which is the biggest thing.

I don't understand how your art is this incredible and yet supposedly you're not getting any commission from marvel or DC.
Do you often seek out a cover page commission? Or are you just trying to get hired to do interior?
Cuz from the ton of stuff ive seen in Marvel , your art is far superior.
