Nice explanation 👍 In multistorey building we used always fixed beams So at end support negative bending moment and at center positively bending moment So we provides extra bar at top at supports and curtails bat at mid span Am I correct?
Yes, Mostly we'll see continuous beams & slabs where at the supports we'll provide reinforcement at top due to the tension development at the top face and need to provide reinforce ment up to a distance of L/4 from support .You may curtail the reinforcement at the bottom face ,but the bars has to be extended to a length known as development length as per the code.
