We are lucky enough to have four major composers who wrote for Pelléas: Debussy, Fauré, Sibelius, Schoenberg. It is fascinating to check their different visions.
The first time I heard this music was in an animation named Hyouka. And then in 2020 I went to Hong Kong. In a lovely building garden, I heard it again in a very foggy night. I will never forget it, the night in the garden and the animation.
I saw your comment recently and have found it relevant. I did not notice it was old. I'm not French, but I have lived in France and speak French. Pelléas is sublime. Big hug!
SO lovingly shaped and always flowing, exactly what Fauré needs! A live performance that hangs together this beautifully is rare, indeed, and I would have felt privileged to have heard this live. I enjoyed hearing the low range of the flute so clearly, and while the recording balance isn't ideal (I'd like a bit more strings, a bit less timpani), it doesn't keep me from loving this interpretation. Well done, conductor and ensemble, and THANK YOU for posting!
to Steve Burrus (see below). I second, third, fourth, etc. After Faure, much of "classical" music became dissonance, noise, unpleasant. But Faure -- Kisses up to heaven!!!!!!!!
I've been watching the Larry McMurtry;s TV series Dead Man's Walk. I thought the music sounded familiar. Yep! Stolen from the 3rd movement of Faure's masterful and lovely Pelleas suite. :)

Thank you for saying so....I had no idea.

Wee P.S. Faure had to have a great soul. His music goes throughout my body, heart, mind, and I'm made better, always, for it.
Grand Gabriel Fauré, créateur de tant de beauté! Les interprètes sont excellents!
Tout simplement magnifique !
I have always thiought that Gabriel Faure had the most sublime and ethereal music in the entire Impressionist period for both Art and Music.
I totally agree with you
I said thar about Faure a good Y EAR AGO! Why are just now responding back to me? And also are you French mon ami?

I suddenly trhought that Maurice Ravel might give Faure a "good run for his money" at being The Best with his sublime "Le Tombeau de Couperin".
His rendition of Jean Baptiste Racine Cantique opus 11 is out of this world... if you haven't listened yet, please do...
Bravo pour le chef et l'orchestre!
such a heavenly rendition. thumbs up for this!

So far the best upload of this suite in one file.

My nuerons are dancing for joy!
Funny... this piece was chosen by Balanchine for his Ballet 'Jewels'... Faure's music is used in Act I: Emeralds... the pas de deux are so beautiful

Version Trés sensible.
