@@Crazy_Diamond_75 while its true a well executed kick will splinter a board and not hurt (really after the time it takes you to get good enough at TKD your feet will have become pretty desensitised anyway) the boards they use for this demo are super porous and soft so they break easily. not because they cant destroy solid boards but because the point of the demo is the acrobatics and not the power, plus when youre kicking 100s of them in a show and you risk landing on them its also a safety thing. the K-tigers also have other demos where they do power breaking, like im talking 2x4 slabs of pine boards stacked up and cider blocks/granite slabs
@@Crazy_Diamond_75 Think hitting a ball. You follow through so that as much momentum goes into that ball as possible and so you don't need to waste energy slowing down. They're just hitting the ball really, really hard.
No dude it does show how hard they kick and about the accuracy even even if we don't aim perfectly at our target it just flows naturally and we know we will hit it
@@whiskey2492 No, it doesn't show how hard they kick. Look at the way the wood breaks. They position the pieces of wood with it's fibers parallel to the foot, that way it's easier to break. The same thing is done in those demonstrations of "strenght", where an athlete breaks multiple slabs of wood. Strenght is required, of course, but positioning the wood with the fibers in the right orientation helps A LOT.
@@errorerror6918 Ive broke those boards easily with my head with almost no effort they are incredibly brittle and split in very predictable ways. It's more of a parlor trick than anything. Now if they were breaking inch diameter dowel rods that would be incredibly impressive in muay thai we smack each other in the shins with them to condition ourselves for checking kicks. The impressive part of this video is their acrobatic ability
I’m 33 years old and I’m soooo proud to say that I’ve training Taekwondo 🥋 for 25 years and the passion, determination, courage, discipline and love and lot more you need to have to embrace this lifestyle and journey it’s huge!!! But all you get in exchange for your body and mind it is absolutely breathtaking!!! Also out of those 25 years in Taekwondo, I’ve been taking at the same time for 10 years, Boxing and Muay Thai to increase all my techniques and knowledge the best I can!
If anybody was wondering what the techniques are, they're these (from what I can tell): 2:36 - The first 2 guys are using spinning hook kicks for most of their techniques, a technique that uses the heel of the foot. The last kick by the guy on the left is a spinning round kick (using the instep, a.k.a. the top of the foot), and for the last kick by the guy on the right is probably some kind of spinning hook kick, I'm not exactly sure since I've never seen a spin like he did. 4:03 - The first kick is a front kick, the second - presumably a round kick. Normally you wouldn't kick that way in that position, and they would have the 2nd guy on the other side. 3rd is definitely a round kick. 5:15 - Front kicks, with some added aerial effects ;p 6:52 - I couldn't see the 1st technique, 2nd looks like a front kick based on the hip position, 3rd is round kick, and 4th is a front knee strike (it looks kind of weird though so maybe not). 7:50 - All front kicks, again, with aerial effects. 8:56 - Same as the last one. 10:02 - A front kick again. Also I'd like to respond to something(s) they said in the video - It doesn't really hurt to kick the boards - unless you don't break them. It also depends on what part of your body you're using. Round kicks hurt more because you're using the top of the foot, and not the bottom. Another thing, you don't actually need too much strength, not too much more than the average adult (in my opinion), it's more about the snap. Think about this - if you have a whip, it will be more effective if you crack it at someone then if you hold it between your hands and run at them (not a very good metaphor, I know). Something else that helps breaking boards - concentrating the power of the technique. Like a pencil will go through a piece of paper then the palm of your hand. So what's really impressive here is how much air they're getting, and how they can do it so many times in a row. Sorry for the rant, and if I got anything wrong please tell me - I'm not an expert (just a blue belt) but I'm giving my two cents in case it helped anybody.
I am a red belt, I went into the comments to say the same thing about the boards not hurting unless you dont break them. Very informative and from my (somewhat limited) knowledge, accurate

@@yareyare_dechi So it's the wood equivalent of safety glass.
Charles Dysart yup. However during belt testing it’s usually real wood and not safety wood as we’ll call it.
That was beautiful on so many levels!!! Technique, filming, choreography (especially), and the fighter's energies.
the whole point of the wood Isn't to show how hard they kick its to show accuracy, the wood is super flimsy, Still really impressive.
I’ve practiced teakwondo since I was three. I am a black belt. Trust me, the wood is not soft.
@@cassidran5774 not soft brittle.
I'm honestly stunned. this is the best slow mo episode I've ever seen.
These guys never fail to make me smile when I watch one of their videos

I’m 33 years old and I’m soooo proud to say that I’ve training Taekwondo 🥋 for 25 years and the passion, determination, courage, discipline and love and lot more you need to have to embrace this lifestyle and journey it’s huge!!! But all you get in exchange for your body and mind it is absolutely breathtaking!!!
Also out of those 25 years in Taekwondo, I’ve been taking at the same time for 10 years, Boxing and Muay Thai to increase all my techniques and knowledge the best I can!
If anybody was wondering what the techniques are, they're these (from what I can tell):
2:36 - The first 2 guys are using spinning hook kicks for most of their techniques, a technique that uses the heel of the foot.
5:15 - Front kicks, with some added aerial effects ;p
6:52 - I couldn't see the 1st technique, 2nd looks like a front kick based on the hip position, 3rd is round kick, and 4th is a front knee strike (it looks kind of weird though so maybe not).
I hope the slow-mo Guys show their subjects the footage they recorded.
Not just the subjects, but anyone who's present there. If I would be volunteering to the shoot, I would be curious to see what they recorded.
They do often show the footage to the people they're with. I expect they showed the team here, too, if they wanted to see!
With the amount of time and organization required to get those shots, they'd break after every shot and let everyone see.
Rugved Khandekar Are you kidding? I bet every single one of those guys and girls have been glued to their TH-cam subscriptions, waiting for this video.
I didn't think they volunteered... I figured they were hired.

I'm really glad you guys were able to spread the word of how taekwondo is a martial art of both beauty and strength. 😢😢
From where I am no one thinks of taekwondo as much and I think that more people should start acknowledging taekwondo

Yeah right, shut up attention seeker.
I do taekwondo
And I can’t see myself doing that in a couple thousand years XD

1. The movements
2. Spinning kick combination-ending with a 540° spin kick

I'm so glad someone else noticed that
True.
So many people mix up the terms "roundhouse" and "spinning hook kick"
Zahin Kabir the fact people are doing 1080 kicks now
I was thinking there was something weird about calling them roundhouses but I wasn't sure what.
I haven't taken taekwondo myself (yet) but I have family members who have, and I could tell those weren't technically "roundhouses". :P
