If the backrest was added 1 more with the same model I'm sure it would be much more beautiful. But I like your style of work

Greetings from Brazil Sir. Very beautiful bench. I loved the marks on the wood. I'd use screws instead nails to grip the sit.

I would warn you to maintain as much of the wood's natural, weathered patina as is possible. I feel the "created" pseudo-patina, and associated physical effects, especially with the absence of any stain, looks forced and man-made, "fake," if you will? Had you used the original weathered wood patina, with some mild grey/white staining effects, you would have created something far more realistic, and infinitely more valuable. Sorry, it's just my opinion. I respect your artistry. One more suggestion, try some stain effects and use less of the simple sprayed clear finish. At least try some flat finishes. I understand about the humidity with which you must contend. Best wishes, one carpenter to another...

I have to agree with you. I make furniture out of reclaimed wood myself and I try my darness to preserve that old look as possible. I stay away from chemically stains, varnishes etc, And try using natural and organic oils etc. Works great.
Or I leave the wood natural without any applications period.
