    Perfect style for a extension to a computer station I built for my wife. Lends it self to modification because of simplicity. I've actually already started and came across your video. Nice.

    First time on your channel & I’m wondering about making side tables with just cross bars for legs (no bottom shelves)

      Yep, that would certainly work. I’ve seen several styles of tables made that way 👍🏻

      @@mmcc_woodshop6288 have you done any that I could reference? I’ve come upon some 2x4’s (?) that I’m planning on making 2 side tables. Beat in mind I am a 71 yr old grandmom that lives 100’s of miles from family so I’m hoping you tube can guide me through it

    Happy 100th video🥳
    This one got me thinking. You've made quite a few of these rustic farmhouse furniture pieces. Have you ever considered getting a band saw? A trick I've done is to dress the boards to eliminate the 2x4 lumber look, and to thin all the pieces a bit so they're not quite as chunky. Then using the bandsaw and a fence, run the boards strough the bandsaw, but with the blade set almost exactly the thickness of your parts. This will not cut the wood but instead it will scrape it, leaving bandsaw marks. A little light sanding just to take the extra fluff off and you're set

      Thanks Rab! Yeah, I’ve definitely looked into it and have my eye on a Laguna model right now, just haven’t followed through with it yet!

    I’m new to wood working and was wondering what kind of wood should I use? And is it alright to get wood from Lowe’s or Home Depot?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For a simple project like this, yes - Lowe’s or Home Depot construction lumber will work fine

  • @bouncer812
    @bouncer812 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Do you not square up your edges of construction lumber with a planer or table saw? Everytime I make something without cutting off the round offs, I can never get the assembled furniture squared

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On a more rustic/rough piece like this, I think it’s okay to leave the edges as they are. If I’m working on a high end piece, everything will be properly milled.

    I’m about halfway through this build. I’m actually building 2 sets of them. So far the plans are great but I ran into one issue. The written out measurements for the (5) slats @ 15” is wrong. They should be 17.5” roughly. I’m having to improvise a little and doing 6 slats in the other direction. If you follow what is said in the video your good. I just went with the measurements. It’s all good tho. Thanks for the info and cool tables!

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for pointing that out and sorry about the mistake! I corrected it in the description to 17.5" - appreciate the heads up!

    Great video. The pieces looked a bit rough, but overall a good concept. Do you ever apply poly to the painted surface?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I don’t use poly over the paint, it could make the white appear yellow-ish 👍🏻

    I loves these side tables. All is have a simple circular saw. Can I build these without fancy tools? Do you have downloadable instructions?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, a circular saw will work fine. I don’t have downloadable plans (yet) but all the dimensions are included in the description 👍🏻

    Would using 2 -12 inch pieces rather than 3 - 8 inch pieces work for the top? Or would that look silly. Also, would 2x3" wood rather than 2x4" work for the frame? Or would that make it lose it's strength? I'm looking to make something slightly lighter and easier to carry.

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      12” pieces would be fine - I think three 8” boards looks better personally. And yes, you could use 2x3s fine without compromising any strength.

    What was the complet process of the polyurethane coat? Just one coat? Did you sand it after or not? Thx for the info😁

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On these I just did one coat. On tables tops where I want a smoother/perfect finish I’ll use 3-4 coats sanding in between with 400 grit sandpaper. I usually use wipe on poly for the last coat for a super smooth finish

    • @acadieman1796
      @acadieman1796 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mmcc_woodshop6288 So just to make sure i understood properly just one coat and no sanding at all afterwards? Just left it as is?

    • @mmcc_woodshop6288
      @mmcc_woodshop6288  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that’s correct. If it doesn’t turn out well enough you can do multiple coats but I only did one coat here.
