That has to be one of the best performances on SNL, so glad they set it up this way, an empty hallway and simple setting really fit the tone of this song. His voice is a gift from God, every time I hear this song makes me tear up.

Please don't be fooled. If he really wanted a quiet life out of the media's eye, he could just hide away like many celebrities, it is doable. I doubt he would agree with that characterization. I agree he's becoming an incredible young man, but his struggles were largely self inflicted. He was his own worst enemy and is now trying to fix himself from the inside out. I'm rooting for him, but his prior persona was off-putting and self-destructive and nobody was a monster for calling him on it.

@@Mimihigh I completely get where you are coming from with these words. Yes there probably is people that feel sorry for him without batting an eyelid at homeless people who have lost everything. This does not mean he does not deserve it. We live in a world where everyone thinks that money solves your problems. But when this 1% that reach the top and start telling people like us that ot doesn't make you happy and they're actually still quite miserable we cannot relate? It's only when we get everything we ever wanted or loose everything we ever had that we step into a different truth and see that none of it made us happy because happiness will always come from within. We're so distracted by flashy shiny things we can't see that anymore? Marketing has left us feeling like we will never be good enough until we have the next best wardrobe, or cosmetic surgery, biggest house, flashiest car. It's an illusion because you will get it all just to realise none of it helps. Then we will understand what he's trying to say. I do agree there is so much emphasis on pop culture now that people do not see the problems of the world only what latest celebrity broke up. But imagine having all your personal details splashed all over a magazine everyday and most of it not true? The media deciding who they want everyone to hate this week. I know for sure I would have turned crazy by now if I were them. We need more empathy in this world. Not judging people's problems on what they have or don't have. I have spoken with homeless people who have lost everything and only then have they discovered it was all worthless ..all their possessions.. everything. Go to the other side of the world where there's less value on money and more emphasis on community and family. That is what life is meant to be for. We have this false illusion of connection because I can ring my mother from thousands of miles away..true but I cannot hug her, I cannot kiss her. This world is hurting regardless of people's life status. The world needs a more caring compassionate nature not judging the worth of someone's hurting based on their material possessions. What I'm trying to do is act small, give more and be better to the people in my life, become a better person so in turn becoming a better daughter, friend, girlfriend etc. Giving to charities in the area.. you can see how money is being spent then and the good it is doing. I do not want this to become an argument I'm just putting my opinion and hoping for an open minded conversation. I completely understand why you feel the way you do .. I'm just giving you another angle to look at it!

I don't think "he's hurting" anymore, because he sounds & looks like he's doing much much better than ever. As an artist, you are able to tap into old memories & emotions you were going through at a certain time period in your life, and only once you're ok to deal with it & put it behind you, then you're able to put it into your art. I think that's what he just did with this song. So no, he's not currently hurting, but he 💯% was for many years.

Facts... I CRY to this song but I think even more bc he is singing it ( not like the video) but this performance had me balling... Justin is an amazing singer and just to hear tge pain in his voice and u can see it in his face tears me up I so sad for what he had to endure... Justin literally suffered through depression all alone while in the public eye, I can't imagine how terrifying that must have been. It really shows that our society is far from understanding mental illness and way too quick to judge. He was just a kid. I've never really been a fan, but as someone who's been depressed, I'm so proud of him for pulling through and staying strong.
