I aslo fell for manticore hype but was very disappointed with the performance. I feel it is WAY over priced for what it actually does. I am pretty sure manticore will be collecting dust in many closets. They are also beginning to show up on marketplace. Will it detect? Yes. Is it worth $1500? Absolutely Not.

      You’re exactly right!
I have the same problem with mine and forget about the 2d screen I have a piece of black tape covering my screen at the 2d part it’s worthless and just distracting, here’s when I knew it was bullshit, so my place sits on 10 acres and is from the 1800’s old farm, so I got what appeared to be a coin signal in the 2d screen a perfect small circle and good Id number so I dig and I dig and it turned out to be a 50 gal steel drum so that’s the last time I looked at the 2d screen
So tell me why again did I pay $2000 bucks for this $300 dollar machine?
To many Minelab fanboys out there kissing the ring in hopes of free shit I suspect
Been doing this over 30 years and used many detectors and the manticore has to be the biggest gimmick detector ever sold
What they did was produce a couple quality detectors like the CTX to get their name solid then rake the rest of us out of our money
Well I’m sticking with the legend much better machine and a 1/4 of the price
So I think I’ll make a video of the manticore at the end of my rifle range and see about putting a couple 5.56 rounds through it
THATS HOW MUCH THIS THING AGGRAVATED ME
And no one tell me it’s in the settings because I’ve done just about every combination possible to get this thing right
Now you guys that have no trash in your fields and just good targets it probably works fine AND SO WOULD EVERY OTHER DETECTOR, I wanted one to get through the trash like I thought a $2000 dollar detector should
If you guys quit sucking up to this company maybe JUST MAYBE they’ll make us a quality machine worth swinging and under $1000 bucks!!!
But I won’t hold my breath

Tip- GB detector first when using tracking GB. Why? Manticore as well as EQX line depending on soil mineralization levels can track slower than a lot of other models. You can do experiment if you wish and I think you will see.
And detecting the deeper stuff GB more important for higher quality signals achieved on targets.

Don’t let purchasing a Minelabe Manticore put you off by people like this . Firstly I got a manticore in Malaysia and it’s been awesome on beach hunting , I used a Nox 800 with a 15 inch coil and got heaps of finds and at least 60 grams of 916 gold in 14 months , I am on my 4th gold ring , since getting the manticore in late December. It’s awesome , beret signal quality, picking up the smallest of metal signals in ridiculous depths , hitting coins at 20 plus inches . The lightest 916 gold ring , being 1.1 grams at 8 inches!, this is with a standard 11 inch coil , now I can’t wait to get the 15 inch coil on this detector. Don’t listed to people that talk BS

You must feel terrible with your new manticore not operating the way you want it to…..Here’s a few things I noticed watching your video that may help you:
    1. Your lower ferrous limits setting was too close to the non-ferrous target line…your small hammered coin was showing up on your screen but your lower ferrous limits setting was partially masking it out.
    2. It’s more beneficial to ground balance your machine after turning it on…do an auto ground balance (pump the ground). Don’t assume the ground auto tracking will “quickly” normalize your machine to your ground….it’s very gradual.
    3. Just lower your sensitivity down a couple notches (22) or until the falsing stops or becomes less problematic..The manticore is still deep/sensitive with values above 20.
    4. When doing a noise cancel, hold down the button continuously and let your machine find the cleanest EMI free channel. Let go of the button when your noise channel number stops changing.

@@followivankrause3673 It's possible that your ground balance is defective. You didn't perform a proper ground balance and you didn't decrease the Sensitivity. Both of which spurred me to make suggestions to improve your situation. I learned that you have returned the detector for repairs. I will be following your situation to see how it turns out. What follows many not pertain to you.
      Good luck with your repairs!
Listed below are a few examples of the BEST PRACTICES of how to operate the Minelab Manticore to reduce falsing. This is not a detailed explanation, nor do I cover different environmental scenarios, nor have I outlined the precedence of establishing the detectors parameters, all of which are critical for optimal detector performance, reduced falsing.
The coil radiates an electromagnetic force (EMF).
The Search Mode and the Recovery Speed control the amount of EMF that is radiated from the coil and into the ground. EMF energizes the ground which in turn has an affect on the Sensitivity, VDI/TID, detection depth, quality of the Target Trace and to the degree of falsing.
Auto Ground Balance (pump the coil) measures the background noise and establishes a threshold value of the EMF taken up by the ground. The software uses the ground balance threshold value in every calculation to determine the 'Signal' from the 'Noise'. Ground balancing in combination with the other machine parameters helps mitigate falsing.
We "MUST" Auto Ground Balance (pump the coil) "EVERY TIME" we change the Search Mode or the Recovery Speed. Increasing or decreasing the EMF will negate the previous Ground Balance threshold value.
Too much Sensitivity may cause falsing and a jumpy TID/VDI.
Falsing may be mitigated by lowering the Sensitivity.
Decrease the Sensitivity until the detector is quiet and the Target Trace clears up of spurious traces/plots.
Decreasing the Sensitivity may improve separation, unmasking and reveal deeper artifacts.
Minelab Manticore: Still plenty deep at lower sensitivity levels.
Metal Detecting NWGA, Mar 20, 2023
      th-cam.com/video/4zzIpz6eE9c/w-d-xo.html
If you experience falsing or erratic TID/VDI make adjustments to the Recovery Speed.
A low Recovery Speed increases the time between sampling, thus more EMF is radiated into the ground.
A high Recovery Speed decreases the time between sampling, reducing the EMF that is radiated into the ground.
If falsing persist after adjusting the Recovery Speed, Sensitivity, Ferrous Limits and Ground Balancing, switch to a different SMF Search Mode or to a single frequency.
Long Press Noise Cancel. The longer you depress the Noise Cancel soft button, the more time the computer has to determine the most offending EMI frequency.
Ferrous Limits not adjusted 'correctly' for your soil contamination level will cause falsing.
Please keep this 'partial' list of the Manticore Best Practices in mind the next time the opportunity presents its self to test the Manticore.

Ivan, any update on this issue? I see from the comments, the Minelab acolytes have descended on your channel to say you are the problem, not the machine. Not surprising, as this is what we saw with the Leakquinox, when I tried to warn people early on about the issues. Maybe the acolytes will only be satisfied if you hold the noise cancel for two hours. Seriously though, interested to hear if the issue was fixed.

    • @pigeonbloodruby5330
      @pigeonbloodruby5330 ปีที่แล้ว

I believe the reason he is getting flack is because there was no demonstration of the Sensitivity being decreased and switching from Tracking Ground Balance to Auto Ground Balance (pump the coil). If he only demonstrated these two features to the viewers people would be less up in arms.
People are complaining about beach falsing, so there might be an issue with ground balancing.
Tom Dankowski said to never use Tracking Ground Balance. If you do, check it often.
I interpret that as the Tracking Ground Balance is not working as expected.
Maybe there are other issues with the ground balancing besides Tracking GB?

@@pigeonbloodruby5330 I was mainly referring to the noise cancel. The people bellyaching about him doing it incorrectly are harping on needing to "hold it down" during the process. They clearly have never used or owned any other Minelab machine, because I know for at least two of the legacy machines (the Leakquinox and CTX) the noise cancel button only needs to be presseed once to initiate the function. Now it is true that you should hold the machine up while it does the noise cancel, and the CTX takes longer than the Nox, but if this is supposed to be a "new and improved" machine build, why the emphasis on needing to hold the button down or to wait for anything?? Or is this just more repackaged old tech?? As for ground balancing, I can tell you that there have been issues with the Leakquinox in this regard, mainly in certain mineral rich environments, or where there is a bed of highly mineralized rocks. There is a post I discuss this on with one of my videos, brought up by a detectorist who took the Nox out to the borreal forest. As soon as he described the issue, I told him the Nox could not be ground balanced to those conditions. He eventually got the engineering team and ML to answer to his issue, and they admitted that it was a ground balancing issue the machine could not overcome. But you can't have these types of discussions with ML acolytes and cheerleaders these days, because they see it as being negative towards the company. It's about being truthful and honest. I bought all my machines, I didn't receive any free detectors, and if I did, I'd still be sharing the truth, not like some of the "influencers" and "payold" types who beg for a machine, then only give favourable reviews. As a consumer, have a right to voice these issues, to warn others of them before they make the mistake of believing these machines are the be all end all. I see this TH-camr as attempting to do the same (to some degree) and immediately, all the ML acolyters are lining-up in droves to point out he's the problem, not ML machines. In their deluded mind, ML cannot do any wrong.

@@thebountyfisher The reason for everyone telling Manticore users to long press the Noise Cancel is because of what Tom Dankowski said. He said that the Manticore computer is monitoring all the channels and when given a longer sampling period, it can determine the most offending EMI channel.

Hello, can I make a suggestion, when dealing with difficult EMI, using Enhanced Audio can help. You will still hear chatter but targets will stand out to you more. It’s a great setting that would allow you to keep your sensitivity at around 24. Like you were using in this video. Instead of normal I would recommend trying it out next time 😊
“Enhanced Audio Theme has a similar Tone Modulation as the Normal audio theme has. But Weak detections like EMI chatter will remain audible, but it will have a modulated audio timbre that sounds more 'thin' or 'tinny' than stronger targets detected. This has the effect of suppressing EMI chatter, making it easier to listen 'through', it to hear non‐random signals that consistently repeat with each swing. Larger signals from strong/shallow targets will sound more 'robust'. This Audio Theme can also allow you to increase Sensitivity (in EMI‐limited locations) higher than would be possible using the Normal Audio Theme.” Take care from Canada

@@steves6823 Its not just new users. This machine is a bottle cap finder which is crazy at the price point. Sure you can tune them out but should that not already have been done in a stock program? I have a CTX3030 and love it outside of its cumbersome weight. Am looking at a new purchase this year and the Manticore made the list but I am now pretty much leaning towards the Deus II. I also have the Deus. XP has been downright amazing with upgrades where ML is shy of lackluster. Was Hoping the Manticore was gonna be a shot out of the park but but from reading and watching videos its just a CTX that was put on a diet and given some juice. For the price I can get a pinpointer with the Deus II that connects to the machine. Will keep watching and reading for a bit in hopes ML actually steps up to the plate on this one and corrects the issues. I have an Excalibur and an original Blue Sword which are both absolutely amazing detectors so I know what ML is capable of producing, it seems they just choose not to go the extra anymore.

The problem is, that detector has issues and Minelab has to fix the issues. I got a messages from five Manticore users who experienced the same problem.

Please... learn how to! Lower the sens, ground bal, i use minelab’s for decades. I own 4 of them. Metaldetecting over 42 years. If you show me a video where you did what you have to do. And its stil there then i believe you.. and,,, i am not a manticore fan! €2000,- machine and stil disposable. My First digital screen machine was the nox. The nox is a Good machine for beach, but the build quality is shit! And disposable!
€1000,- sinds minelab is overtaken by codan.. it is standing already with one foot in the grave! So sad!

@@followivankrause3673 The "Mantiwhore" runs about $1,600 U.S. Dollars here in Texas 🤠 🇺🇲..... For my money I want a machine that'll do it's basic, primary and simple job.... To alert me that there's something metal below my coil 🧐!!!
All them Bells & Whistles just get in the way. Just because it costs more doesn't make it a better machine 😒.
(Example: The Lexus is a Luxury Car Right?..... But it's still a damned Toyota!!! Get my point???) 😆😝

Silver Surfer Why feel the need to talk trash? If you don't want or can't afford a Manticore that's fine, but the fact is a Simplex is a true beginner's machine.

I can assure you, as makro and D2 user, the manticore will flat out find tiny gold deeper than any vlf. And thats just turn on and go for me.

You might want to watch this. And I agree with this video test. But a point to note my Mars MD beats my legend on deep small gold targets but I do like my XP too :)
