      @@1SpudNuts1BigNasty-DIY Call me crazy, but after grabbing that kit, the screws through base are too long and motherboard scres are too thick...? Did you swap screws and drill out holes in the board?

      No, the screws through the board is a little tight but should work and mine didn’t come with mounting screw (to the box), I had to buy some.

    Couldn't you have powered the dig quads with the 12 volt power then take 5 volts from it to the relays?

    Thank you for posting this video. I am trying to do the same thing. I already have the box. I was wondering about ventilation, but I see how you did that. I do have 2 questions. 1. Where did you get those white plastic brackets that you used to mount the dig-quad and the boosters? 2. I thought that you only need boosters if it was further down the line and if you had to bridge any gaps greater than 10'. Why did you use the boosters in your control box? And, did it prove to help? Thank you .

      Boosters can be used for power injection but they also have the 33/249 ohm resister for 3 wire power/data or if they are wired separate. It helps with a more reliable data signal up to 10 meters. Here’s the standoffs: 50 PCS Circuit Board Plastic Standoffs Mounting Hardware,Motherboard Standoffs Foot Offs and Screws a.co/c3WP5Pw

      @@1SpudNuts1BigNasty-DIY Thank you very much. I did some more research, and it looks like the 33/239 ohm resister is built into the dig-quad. Maybe its still a good idea for redundancy. Anyways, thanks for your video. I got mine all installed and working perfectly. Your layout was really helpful. Thanks again.

    I’m not sure why you think the power injection has to come from same power supply. Have mine running perfect, & power injection is needed and IS different power supply. Second power supply (injection) is hooked to the END of my pixels & I am using that power supplies ground also. I only made that comment for clarification because of your comment.

    • @1SpudNuts1BigNasty-DIY
      @1SpudNuts1BigNasty-DIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Everywhere I’ve read, you should never power inject with multiple PSU’s unless you completely break the positive connection. Connecting the positive wires between two PSU’s can be hazardous. You can use two PSU’s by having one power the controller and the other power the lights but have one power lights on one end and a second connecting to the positive on the other is a bad idea.

    • @bobking682
      @bobking682 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@1SpudNuts1BigNasty-DIY I think the term used in the industry is 'difference in ground potential'. Should one power supply's ground have a difference in the quality of or amount of zero volt earth ground vrs the other, then there will be a variance in the circuit which will cause an undesired voltage loop... Meaning: A Ground Loop, which is an unwanted electrical current path to two different grounds, can cause havoc in equipment or process control systems by introducing unwanted electrical noise. These undesired Ground Loops are created when two supposedly connected points are not at the same electrical potential (meaning resistance to ground). That’s when Ohm’s Law takes over and creates an electrical current flow between these two points. It stands to reason, that Ground loops can be avoided if all devices are grounded together at one point. This type of grounded is referred to as Star Point grounding. This in itself would resolve using other supplies if their ground potential resistance is THE SAME... since using DC, this is less of an issue than when using AC which could have out of phase issues; which is another concern.

I asked because I listened to you over and over; for quite some time, but I'm a bit worry that I will still do something wrong, so the drawings will help bc I dont have the circuit diagrams for the component boards. A while ago one other person said asked for them, but I never saw a link to any. Would you be so kind as to please PM me so I can build this too? How far does the Boosters reliably work?

    • @1SpudNuts1BigNasty-DIY

      About 10 meters or around 33 feet but I’m not using them as power boosters. I’m using them to clean up the data signal because they have onboard, selectable resisters (depending on cabling). But, newer, updated Dig-Uno’s and Dig-Quad’s now have that option built in.
