Katherine Dinkelman Someone in the theater I was in when I saw it (recently) dropped a bunch of their change on the floor and waited until the end to get it!!! That would be something if we were in the same theater 😂
MuseMediaUSA I went a second time with my boyfriend, and they had a problem with the film but opened it up to us so we were the only ones in the theater. We realised we were whispering to each other part way through, but continued to whisper, and I finally said something to him after he was eating his popcorn so loud that he had to sit it in the space next to him because it was so distracting. I would've been mortified if there were others in the theater - he's an un-phased, vocal viewer (laughs loud and has commentary) and loud hand digger of popcorn bags.
I think it’s more That after a certain octave only then the monsters will come it isn’t about always being quiet it’s about not taking risks of being loud
The ending was actually one of my favorite parts, because I feel like it goes directly back to what Jeremy's saying - this family's had zero opportunity for release, for aggression, for control, their lives for so many months has been dictated by absolute terror of these monsters --- and with that ending I feel it illustrates that they've finally found their release, and man are they ready.
But who's telling how many more there could be out there, the ending anmpywd the fuck outta me. So abrupt, so sudden, it's like they didn't have enough time to shoot anymore so had to wrap it up then
Not her fault. The father did it for her to enable her hearing. Besides, the reason maybe that didn’t work as well was because the creatures presence prevented it from working if that makes sense
It also seems to be the Hollywood thing to release a thriller/horror movie in ANY OTHER MONTH but October....Remember when they USED that month for marketing purposes? Man.
No you idiot of course they can release whenever they feel is most lucrative for the studio and movie, but October IS the month of all things horror and if you ever did research on marketing, Hollywood DID use that month to get butts in seats. VH, sorry but if someone things Spiderman/Logan are the best films of they year... they're either kids or just not that serious about movies imo. Theyre fun movies but theyre not among the best ever made.
Bay's movies always have great sound design and effects (that's the one of the few good things about his movies after visuals) so not surprised about that
i can only guess that comedians approach horror in a way that it's not suppose to centre itself on only horror, but more on very strong themes like family and sacrifice or other things that have nothing to do with horror. when you do that and THEN ADD horror to the mix, it becomes more than just another horror film.
Same with me. She is easily one of my favorite actresses, if not my favorite. Love her beauty, charm and talent. She's gorgeous while also being a woman who chooses such strong roles. I'm a fan of most of her films and she crushed it in A Quiet Place. SHe was fantastic in this thriller, with her husband John Krasinski.
WTF Michael Fucking Bay is a producer on this movie?? 🤣💥🤣💥🤣💥🤣 when the end credits come up and I saw his name. Funniest part of the whole move, even though it wasn't a comedy.
Breaking News Michael Bay is not as bad as people make him out to be. Sure, he's over the top, but he makes some great films. He also did 13 Hours with John Krasinski, terrific film.
Michael Bay is a master of special effects and explosions. Story and character chemistry, hardly. That's sadly what I got, but I loved the use of sign language and the suspense, so maybe he want too involved.
Ayyyy the Hollywood Horror Renaissance continues!! Along with James Wan, Mike Flanagan, Jordan Peele, David F. Sandberg and Fede Alvarez we now have John Krasinski... What a time to be alive and a fan of scary movies/stories!
Can anyone explain to me this guys noting system? Like we have, already forgot in T minus 1 2 3 days. Then we have alcohol, then no alcohol, then blue ray then awesometacular? is this correct?
WARNING I felt this was a good movie, I’d recommend it, so here is your *spoiler alert*: Jeremy, I understand why the ending might not have worked for some people, but personally I liked it because it let the audience think for themselves. The writers didn’t spoon feed us backstory about how the creatures got there, they just showed us the situation by the time the movie takes place. I think they ended it there because it implies yes they know how to kill these things and yes they’re going to save people. I believe that it might have felt drawn out if they showed it, so I respect that editing decision.
I just saw ready player one and i had these two fossils who wouldnt shut up. Shining their phone for light, talking out loud is tom cruise in this one!? Whos that now!?
This is your best review this year. Actually speaking of the movie and how it works instead of just talking about the events in chronological order like you have done in the past. well done.
Actress Millicent Simmonds has been deaf since infancy due to a medication overdose. This was the second film she starred in, with Wonderstruck (2017) being her first. The film's director and male lead, John Krasinski, played the creature in a motion capture suit for a few scenes. There are real family photos of John Krasinski and Emily Blunt and their children used in the film. When Mrs Abbott is checking herself late in pregnancy, she marks her blood pressure on the calendar 20 days before due date. If the due date is the 40th week of pregnancy, this makes her at 37 weeks plus one day. The baby is already at term. Also, the fetal heart rate is clocked at 150 beats per minute which is normal. The original script was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods for Paramount, and then was submitted to John Krasinski, who co-wrote it and decided to direct it. In addition to directing, Krasinski co-stars with wife Emily Blunt as the married couple. The first line of voiced dialogue isn't spoken until about 38 minutes into the film. The movie only contains about 25 lines of voiced dialogue, although sign language dialogue is used extensively. director John Krasinski has said that the single greatest compliment he received regarding the film, was in a tweet from the master of the horror story himself, Stephen King: "A QUIET PLACE is an extraordinary piece of work. Terrific acting, but the main thing is the SILENCE, and how it makes the camera's eye open wide in a way few movies manage Newborn twins Ezekiel and Evangelina Cavoli played unnamed Baby Abbott. Everyone on set was very nervous about putting the babies in the padded box, but the parents were supportive and the scenes were shot as quickly as possible to minimize any possible risk. Emily Blunt encouraged John Krasinski to direct the film. John Krasinski said he wrote the script with wife Emily Blunt in mind for the role, but was hesitant to ask her fearing she might either turn it down or accept it for him. Blunt mentioned in interviews that she had initially recommended a friend to Krasinski for the project. Krasinski had not hired the actress, and after reading and loving the screenplay, Blunt told her husband she wanted to be involved with the film and play the role. This film marks the first time real-life couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt star alongside each other. They both appeared in The Muppets (2011), but did not share any scenes.
This was in the trailer so I think I can mention it without worrying about spoilers. Why in the 7 blue hell's would you not remove every battery from every noise making thing some dumb kid might want to touch or play with?
endless013 the kid must have picked it up while they were walking thru town the boy had it hid from his family they would never allow him to have that toy
They were in the store and the dad took it from the kid and took the batteries out and told him that it’s too loud to have. The whole family leaves, except for the daughter, who stays back with the kid and ends up giving him the toy. The kid then proceeds to take the batteries as well.
Daniel Blue No it wasn’t, he not only removed the battery, but left it on the counter, with the toy, then proceeded out of the store, leaving the kid behind. And as they were walking on the bridge, they had the two kids following way behind. That kid was never going to make it. If not the creature then that creepy old man, who I assume is a predator of some sort.
I was so amazingly surprised. I also have not had a movie going experience where EVERYONE in the movie theater was dead silent the entire film. SO suspenseful and will be a part of my video library as soon as it comes out. Go see it!
In my secondary school, we watched one of your reviews in English to basically study communication in a way to talk an argument. My entire class loved you and the teacher even embraced the great big swearing part which was awesome! Since though years later I came back and I watch all of your reviews so clearly. You’re doing SOMETHING, really well!...just thought you should know!
Hey jeremy I just wanted to say that thanks for what you are doing by being one of the highest TH-camrs that are part of the film fan community and are doing a great job at it. but here's the thing I'm sure that you have seen the the letter that the russo brothers have made for us all. To the critics and the general audience so some TH-camrs have decided to delay their traditional spoiler reviews of infinity war just for a bit so that no spoilers are flying around to soon coming from the viewers of those spoiler reviews. Now we are NOT in any way trying to tell you how to run your channel but just want to let you in the know of what other similar TH-camrs are planning on doing to protect others from spoilers and to respect what the Russo bros. Are trying to do. Please/ Thanks jeremy and keep up the good work
Jeremy I absolutely agree with you, this movie was totally kickass. I personally really loved the way the movie ends but I totally get why you or other people could dislike it, however for me personally I felt like it was the perfect point where seeing anymore would have simply made the movie drag just the slightest bit for me. Plus as the moment was happening I was thinking to myself, "this would be a dope way to end-", and then they did it so I was stoked. That's my one disagreement, other than that I completely agree and I'm super glad you enjoyed this movie like I did.
I haven’t seen this film yet and I hope to, but I feel like you can kill these aliens by making sound traps. Like make a trap that will lure those creatures with sound and once they touch a button or something (within that location that is making sound) a bomb goes off or something deadly happens that kills them. Like you can probably just watch from afar and clarify their death that way.
Well saw it today, boy oh boy what a movie So intense, an edge of the seat thriller. Top notch direction, brilliant acting from all the stars This is the first time in my entire life that I have seen a whole movie theatre with pin drop silence with audiences holding their breath, the movie enganes you in such a manner that you are pulled into this apocalyptic world where you feel yourself as a character trying to survive yourself by maintaining silence. I had a feeling that I was watching Shyamalans Signs all over again.
I didn't think the "no speaking" aspect would have held up for the entire film, but that ended up being my favorite part. The sound designed was epic though.
Saw the movie today..really enjoyed it. For some reason I've developed some respiratory allergy this winter & my doc has me on 3 different meds to control it....despite being fully dosed up & ready to watch this film, I still had to clear my throat and cough a tiny bit. The audience was being so still that I felt awful for slipping in a couple of throat-clears when the soundtrack gave me a chance to do so. It surprised me that we all felt duty-bound to keep as quiet as the characters! I appreciate the fact that we join the story already in progress, which allowed t the film to accomplish so much in the approx. 90 min runtime. Well done
Fell asleep twice watching this movie, hated the little girl’s character and had no emotional connection to any of the characters. I don’t see how it’s not get worse reviews. Maybe I need to take a different approach to the movie hmm.
I gotta see this now. I love what you said about people being quiet because the movie was quiet. The same thing happened in Don’t Breathe. Everyone was so quiet that you could practically hear the quiet. It was great, and it was entertaining.
The book I'm guessing this movie was based on, "The Silence" was able to avoid a lot of the technical plotholes I'm hearing mentioned. The monsters "Vesps" were massive flying swarms that multiplied exponentially. Makes the general premise much easier to buy in to. I also find their origin story much more fascinating than if they were simply aliens. It's a fun read. Think the film did a great job with adapting the premise to film though.
watch the review all the way till the end. Awesome fast review and still make sense with what you're saying! :) thanks for this! it'll help with my writing! rang the bell too! looking forward to more reviews from you.
I really disliked the daughter character. She single handedly set the groundwork for 2 of the deaths, all because she wants to be rebellious... Every time I wanted to scream at the screen I was unable to make sounds. Damn, this movie nails atmosphere.
It was sooo good! Jeremy is right about making noise in the cinema, it was dead quiet. I could only chew once every 10 minutes, I didn’t even finish my bag of chips.
At first I thought I had a problem with the ending too. But looking back, I don't think I would've changed anything. The movie stops at a place where you are already given a good idea of how the end will likely conclude without spelling it out for you.
Near the end of the movie one person behind me actually fell asleep and started snoring. HOW?!?!?!? this movie was so suspenseful. It was a unique movie. My only problem is the cliche bloody hand aside from that it was amazing.
I love the use of sign language and that the fact that the girl who's deaf is actually played by a deaf actor. In fact my mom(who's a sign language teacher) showed this and watched with her classes to show our need for sound and how much we depend on it and kinda what deaf people experance but also show the fact that they don't need sound and are perfectly fine without it.
I like horror films but in the last decade there hasn’t been many even remote good ones. The last Decent horror film I have seen is lights out, and maybe get out (due to it being more of a thriller) but that’s about it. A quiet place, on the other hand, actually made me develop a bit more hope for the horror genre, as I thought it was fantastic. The film doesn’t over rely on jump scares and, contrary to the tons of horror films that have been released previously, the movie doesn’t just try to scare the audience, rather it makes you fear for the family on screen, turning the anxiety up to a whole new level that remains throughout the entirety of the movie. Really good film, I enjoyed it and I highly recommend going to see it.
When I was watching this movie in the theater , the hall next to ours was playing Avengers. Our hall was so quiet that I can hear the dialogues next door and know exactly which part of the Avengers movie it was.
My friend dropped her M&Ms and they scattered and half the people in the theater jumped and looked at us like we were all about to die 😂
LavenousForever
That’s hilarious! I just saw the movie maybe an hour ago and one woman dropped her popcorn and the bucket clattered down every step.
LavenousForever I dropped all of my change. I DIDN'T PICK IT UP UNTIL THE END OF THE MOVIE!!!!😂
Katherine Dinkelman Someone in the theater I was in when I saw it (recently) dropped a bunch of their change on the floor and waited until the end to get it!!! That would be something if we were in the same theater 😂
It was really excruciating for me to try to eat my popcorn QUIETLY during this film. I finally gave up half way.
Ordered the nachos and as soon as I took the first bite I realized I chose the wrong snack :/

I wouldn't know I don't like act like non paid movie critic I watch movies for good time
Except the literal last scene of the movie was SUPER cheesy
I just feel like there would thousands of people who were effectively killed by sneezing.
Same can be said for farts and burps. Which gets me thinking. How do these people pee/poop and not die with the first sploosh?
@@prestonbrower762 sneezing makes more sense. You can hold in a fart and you can make peeing and pooping pretty quiet
Way too much effort. I'd die within a week
I think it’s more That after a certain octave only then the monsters will come it isn’t about always being quiet it’s about not taking risks of being loud
Studio Gible Or farting
I started this video not realizing I had the volume set to mute. I thought Jeremy was doing a bit for a while..
Smarmee Okay, that is hilarious.
Lmao
That actually would have been a really cool bit
he totally would lol
I restarted & muted the video, just to know what you experienced. LOL
The ending was actually one of my favorite parts, because I feel like it goes directly back to what Jeremy's saying - this family's had zero opportunity for release, for aggression, for control, their lives for so many months has been dictated by absolute terror of these monsters --- and with that ending I feel it illustrates that they've finally found their release, and man are they ready.
lindsfreey well said!
Exactly! Shhhhh, for so long fearing the wrath of these creatures.
& that deliberate loud noise was just brilliant.
Hell yea I was hype

It says in their territory, only 3 were dwelling in it. And it shows in the end that 2 of the remaining alien fucks rushing in.
If Dwight was in the film, he'd be the Alfa male of the monsters.
Batman Jr. *alpha

For some reason once I read what you put I could hear Dwights voice say FALSE! Then give an amazing rebuttal to what you said.
Paddy9476 FALSE. Dwight would never give a rebuttal for a situation where he is anything below the leader. Except Assistant Regional Manager.
Such a perfect response Dwight
The fact that the daughter didn’t realize that the hearing aid was the solution, until after the dad died pisses me off.
That’s what makes it tragic.
Yeah she was both the smartest and the dumbest figure in the movie
its not her fault!!
its not her fault her father didn't tell her what it is for
Not her fault. The father did it for her to enable her hearing. Besides, the reason maybe that didn’t work as well was because the creatures presence prevented it from working if that makes sense

Anybody else think of the Clickers from the Last of Us regarding the aliens?
I was digging through comments hoping no one else had made that comparison so I could be the first. Good on you Sir.
Hell yeah
What about the Future Predators from Primeval?
Kind of. Clickers are friggin scary, but not nearly as fast and Dangerous as these things.
Mark Tonna I definitely did but never played the game lol.
The fact that they have a real deaf girl playing a deaf girl shows that Hollywood can actually act and make smart casting choices. Great job!
Aaron The Emo Otaku Method acting haha lol

Drax The Destroyer that’s a movie sin to compare the 2. She was nowhere near Sarah Connor, she didn’t do shit but shoot once.

i can only guess that comedians approach horror in a way that it's not suppose to centre itself on only horror, but more on very strong themes like family and sacrifice or other things that have nothing to do with horror. when you do that and THEN ADD horror to the mix, it becomes more than just another horror film.
Emily Blunt is my favorite actress, huge celebrity crush on her!
Sean Armstrong damn
Same with me. She is easily one of my favorite actresses, if not my favorite. Love her beauty, charm and talent. She's gorgeous while also being a woman who chooses such strong roles. I'm a fan of most of her films and she crushed it in A Quiet Place. SHe was fantastic in this thriller, with her husband John Krasinski.
awarlock82 exactly, I loved her in Lopper and Edge of Tomorrow she was a complete badass
She is one talented actress
I liked how it sucks you in, makes you nervous of making a sound while watching 😂
lizner2222 Speak for yourself, Chief.
I was literally covering my mouth throughout the 2nd half of the film lol. I came out shaking 😅😭
I was afraid to eat my candy. Too noisy.
I was giving side eye to some girl who kept shuffling in her seat ACROSS THE AISLE it was just so loud in all that quiet
Jeremy you're so right the audience reacts quietly thus adding to the suspense.
So nobody has diarrhea during the film or farts while sleeping?

DrViperVideos they should be banished to a special place in hell.
Aren't they supposed to kick these people out? Go to a better cinema.
While I was watching this movie someone brought their baby.... A BABY.. I was so upset lol.
This is your best review this year. Actually speaking of the movie and how it works instead of just talking about the events in chronological order like you have done in the past. well done.
Your reviews are what convince me to see movies i wouldnt see otherwise😂😂
I'm really excited I love your reviews and sense of humor I was waiting for you to do the review for this
I listen to heavy metal music.... yeah in this universe I'd probably wanna die right off the bat.
Dormammu I’ve come to bargain
Dormammu Heavy Fucking Metal!!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Idk if you’ve seen the movie yet but if you decide to watch it addresses this problem lol.
CouGh CoUgH HeAdPhoNes.
Dormammu they had headphones in the movie bud
Terrific acting, but the main thing is the SILENCE, and how it makes the camera's eye open wide in a way few movies manage
Newborn twins Ezekiel and Evangelina Cavoli played unnamed Baby Abbott.
From what I could see in the trailer the dad didn't realise he had it
endless013 the kid must have picked it up while they were walking thru town the boy had it hid from his family they would never allow him to have that toy
They were in the store and the dad took it from the kid and took the batteries out and told him that it’s too loud to have. The whole family leaves, except for the daughter, who stays back with the kid and ends up giving him the toy. The kid then proceeds to take the batteries as well.
Without spoiling anything: the entire situation was handled well. The characters make mistakes, but they aren't stupid.
Go see it!
Saw an early screening on Monday. Loved it from the beginning to end, Emily blunt was fantastic!!!
Growiiithe agree Emily Blunt was excellent
In my secondary school, we watched one of your reviews in English to basically study communication in a way to talk an argument. My entire class loved you and the teacher even embraced the great big swearing part which was awesome! Since though years later I came back and I watch all of your reviews so clearly. You’re doing SOMETHING, really well!...just thought you should know!
Already got Stuckmanized :(

My theatre WAS PACKED! It was so quiet that I couldn't even open up my candy...
Seeing it this weekend! Was hoping for an Awesomtacular but I'll stick with your 2nd highest rating!
Please/ Thanks jeremy and keep up the good work
BIG TUNA!!!!
I was thinking the same thing honestly.
Yep. These monsters would be dead in days if they really existed.
I saw the movie last night....don't want to spoil it but your theory could be right.
Well saw it today, boy oh boy what a movie
So intense, an edge of the seat thriller.
Top notch direction, brilliant acting from all the stars
This is the first time in my entire life that I have seen a whole movie theatre with pin drop silence with audiences holding their breath, the movie enganes you in such a manner that you are pulled into this apocalyptic world where you feel yourself as a character trying to survive yourself by maintaining silence.
I had a feeling that I was watching Shyamalans Signs all over again.
Emily Blunt is so talented! She deserves so much more credit than she gets! I can’t wait to see Mary Poppins!
I didn't think the "no speaking" aspect would have held up for the entire film, but that ended up being my favorite part. The sound designed was epic though.
i reallly enjoyed it. thought it was a bit slow in the middle but the beautiful cinematography and the intensity of the last 45 minutes made up for it
I love slow movies because time moves so fast and it isnt fair
Well done
I went to look for your review, couldn't find it so watched another... Came back and here it was! Great!!
Fell asleep twice watching this movie, hated the little girl’s character and had no emotional connection to any of the characters. I don’t see how it’s not get worse reviews. Maybe I need to take a different approach to the movie hmm.
This was extraordinary film making. Genius.
This is one your best reviews!!!!! Love the channel. This is my favorite movie this year, so far.
Thank god
I was afraid you would said it wasn't good
Mahdi Hussain Clearly you think it was good, would you stop thinking that just because a guy in TH-cam disagrees?
Isaiah Phillip of course NO, i haven't seen the movie yet & i was waiting to hear his opinion
I gotta see this now. I love what you said about people being quiet because the movie was quiet. The same thing happened in Don’t Breathe. Everyone was so quiet that you could practically hear the quiet. It was great, and it was entertaining.
cloverfield 4
Its in prosduction under the name Overlord
Don't Breathe 2
Whiplash without sounds
Only movie that matches the tension
UnbelievabIeMontages it does have a cloverfield feel to it a bit
Theawsomedud44 2 because both of the sequels suck
The book I'm guessing this movie was based on, "The Silence" was able to avoid a lot of the technical plotholes I'm hearing mentioned. The monsters "Vesps" were massive flying swarms that multiplied exponentially. Makes the general premise much easier to buy in to. I also find their origin story much more fascinating than if they were simply aliens. It's a fun read.
Think the film did a great job with adapting the premise to film though.
“Ah nope you died”
I laughed so hard
Genuinely one of the best and refreshing films I’ve seen in such a long time. Would love to see them expand on this world in possible sequels.
REVIEW THE GREATEST SHOWMAN AND ISLE OF DOGS
watch the review all the way till the end.
Didn’t know Jim could do all that
At first I thought I had a problem with the ending too. But looking back, I don't think I would've changed anything. The movie stops at a place where you are already given a good idea of how the end will likely conclude without spelling it out for you.
Still waiting for your bioshock infinite spoiler review
For real though!
Jeremy you just crushed it.. boy incredible job reviewing this one. Really hats off
Near the end of the movie one person behind me actually fell asleep and started snoring. HOW?!?!?!? this movie was so suspenseful. It was a unique movie. My only problem is the cliche bloody hand aside from that it was amazing.
Well I mean if you’re covered in blood and need help but cant speak im sure youd do the same in that situation lol
they should have made a big twist at the end where dwight comes out laughing and says "in the end the best alien isnt an alien at all, its fear"
I can't wait to watch this tomorrow!
Remember a episode of Buffy the vampire slayer called Hush!!!!!
Was that the one with the scary cunts floating around the place?... That was a sleepless night for me.
Yes, so good. And so funny in places when they are trying to communicate
Michael Bay produced this movie... Let that sink in.
Kane Aquino as long as he isn’t the director
When I was watching this movie in the theater , the hall next to ours was playing Avengers. Our hall was so quiet that I can hear the dialogues next door and know exactly which part of the Avengers movie it was.
