Hey, this is the exact same thing I have been telling myself: I don't smoke, I don't drink alcohol and I don't gamble. This is my only extravagance, buying cacti. And it is never enough, I always want to buy more. I think I have become an addict.

It's always so nice to watch your unboxing videos. I'm just as happy and excited as you are. I will be going g to a little cactus show near York on the 12th and I'm really excited about that. Who would have thought that I get into cacti and plants a few years ago, it was all crystals then, but they are all children of mother earth as we are too. What a fun unboxing. So huge. Ha, Hans was funny with the knife. Unfortunately my latest unboxing was not a good one, but you'll see that later. Love so many of the plants you got in this. Glad they were well packaged too and good soil.
Forgot to say that Chris and I are the same. Never had any bad habits. We're very much against drugs, alcohol and smoking. All vices that ruin people's lives. So good you guys are clean.

I am Dinu N., who in his youth was very passionate about cacti (from the Cactaceae family) as well as other succulent (or “fat”) plants from other xerophytic families (euphorbie, aloe, agave, lithopsis, etc.). . But, of course, most of them were cacti. I even got sick of a serious and incurable disease, called "cactus addiction", like a mania, I had made a small greenhouse, I had made friends in my country, I even worked for 2 years in the greenhouses of the botanical garden in my city, Bucharest. In this way I multiplied my collection, and exchanged seeds with other collectors and people from other gardens around the world.
It all started in 1970 (when I was 11). An aunt of mine, Lucia, gave me a cactus chick for my birthday, which had a small red flower on top. And I quickly fell in love wit
"Das Kakteen Lexikon", authored by Curt Backeberg - book written in German. And so I learned their scientific names. I even had a catalog !
Then, over time, my collection became too large and my house became too small. So I rented a big truck 🚚 and moved all 3,000 cacti to another location. I had found an associate, who was richer, so he had a bigger, industrial greenhouse, with all the modern appliances and installations.
Of course, after this moving job, I cried a lot. During the winter, I sang Tchaikovsky's piano music on my old 🎹 piano to all my green children with spikes. I cried a lot even when one of them died 😭
I have now retired after working as a pharmacist in a hospital for 37 years. But now in my house, I still have a cactus cage - the largest being a 47-year-old Mexican Cierge : 🌵

Kakteen Haage'sservice charge on invoice is quite steep plus DHL charge,Ullig kakteen are cheaper as they send bareroot and have a lot of rare and hard to find cacti and succulents.

Hi Lynn, great video and amazing plants!!!! My mom bought me a cactus yesterday with a big beautiful pink flower on top and another bud developing on the side, the label says Mammilliaria matudae. I was wondering if you could give me some tips on growing this particular cacti because I have lots of experience with other plants but have never owned a cactus before, and I want to give it a long and happy life!! Hi there. I have a 1 gallon pot of cactus I have not yet identified as it came unmarked. There are about 8 columnar cacti (2-5") of the same species. Do you recommend keeping cacti that have been growing together for some time together for their life span, or is it generally okay to separate them carefully?

Im really curious about how echinocactus texensis fruit tastes like? Out of all the barrels , they look the yummiest... well as long they dont taste like dragon fruit anyway...
on my end? Ive found 1 more eupohrbia,orbea decaisneana- a really weird plant, a and a stapelia. Ordered adenium and plumeria seeds. Only plant im missing now is euphorbia trigona, and somehow its proven to be more tricky to find than i thought.... also, the quiabentia is pretty rare.

Hi Lyn and Hans. Wonderful new plants. I have a Cissus Quadrangularis and it has now two long "arms" of about one meter long each. Any tips on Cissus Q. care or I just keep treating my beautiful long arm plant like a Suc?. I thought it was a cactus😶. I live in the Tropics, super hot, humid and rainy 360 days every year😎. Thanks in advance.

My son is collecting cacti's and now he found on this video a really beautiful, I believe it's a succulent, plant. Could you tell him the name of the plant? He just fell in love with it. It's the one which looks something similar to a Lithops, in the middle of all the spiky ones. It's around 4:28 on the video.

Hi Johanna :-D thats wonderful news your Son is collecting cactus, its an incredible passion to grow these beautiful plants :-D its a Lophophora williamsii cactus, its a beautiful cactus and one that is spineless and just has woolly tufts instead of spines it has wonderful little pink flowers in the spring and summer and early fall /autumn :-D sadly this cactus is banned in many parts of the US because the skin contains alkaloids that can have a drug like effect if taken in excess, but home grown plants in cultivation would contain hardly ay if at all of these alkaloids so they are perfectly safe to grow and cultivate if not eaten LOL! but you should be ok to keep and grow these cacti in Finland :-D here is a link to a video I have made on how to care for this beautiful cactus : th-cam.com/video/jILwVx6KuWM/w-d-xo.html thanks so much for watching and sending lots of love and PLANT POWER to you and your son XXXXXX

Hey Lyn I need you help I've got a Easter cactus that complete refuses to produce new growth I don't know who I've read up but there's not much in it
Hi Ben :-D have you checked the roots out, it could be down to the root system, also check over the plants stems to check that there are no tiny hidden pests e.g mealybug in between the leaf joins as they are often very hard to see, I hope your Easter cactus will be ok, it may start to send out new growth in the coming weeks now the weather is warming up :-D XXXXX
