They all need different stories since we all know the outcome. I’d like to see how/if they’ll turn this stuff around. Lei is one of those characters I feel should be a legacy character and come back every game. The man has about 7+ stances to the point you feel like you're playing multiple characters in a single round. You'll never run into a Lei that fights similar to another. Ever.
He's one of those knowledge check opponents I actually enjoy dealing with. Got a buddy who specializes as Lei and it's never short of a rush every round.
As a long serving Lei Wulong main, it hurt me when finding out that Lei wasn’t in the base roster. Instead, I’m using Steve Fox as a replacement main. I really hope that he’ll be one of the DLC characters, but I’m not holding my breath.

I’m tired of people’s arguing Lei isn’t played a lot therefore he shouldn’t be on the roster which is a horseshit reason. Of course he’s not played a lot he’s a wacky stance character. Guess who else aren’t played a lot either? Xiaoyu, Nina, the bears, Raven. There’s more that goes into a character’s popularity than usage rate. Lei deserves a spot on the roster simply for the legacy he represents. Jackie Chan played a big part in bringing many Chinese martial arts to a mainstream audience and Tekken pays huge homage to old school martial arts movies. It’s a part of its identity.
Yes. Lei Wulong is my favorite character I hope he makes a return I think the possibility of him becoming a dlc is very high. Yes, he has potential to do more for the franchise as he already has. He is a legacy character and has a rivalry with some people that need to continue and be more out in the open. He also has friendships with some people I suppose you could call them like Wang Jinrei and is able of creating more with others. And there are many good ways about putting him in positions to enter Tekken 8 like the one about him being a cop and he feels that the fighting between the Mishima's and what it's doing around the globe with some of the other characters losing their loved ones or something Lei Wulong could just a need to feel has a cop he must help put an end to it which I like I saying many times he could enter Tekken 8 by leaving the police force after years of putting up with is superiors and finally getting pissed off about it and maybe the change of politics in Hong Kong he decides to create his own private security company where he still has the police mentality but its own security company in the private sector and it will stand between him the factions of the Mishima family fighting each other while at the same time dealing with old rivalries like Feng Wei and maybe even Brian Fury which who know if what if someone had some to do with his partner. But anyway, that's all I'm going to say I could go on sorry if I said too much. And umm thanks for this video.

Tiger Style, Panther, Dragon 🐉, Crane, Snake 🐍 and the most infamous Drunken Master! I grew up watching kung fu movies and Jackie Chan displaying all of these fighting styles and much more. Lei really shows the true essence of Kung Fu art style eventhough he may be so complex to most players to learn. Time practice and alot of patience 😌 It will take but the payoff is tremendous and extremely exciting and addictive once you grasp it. I still believe deeply they could make him a stronger fighter and outshine the best in S teir form. Not hating on all other fighters but "most" of the fighting styles I did not List are fictional made up fighting styles that Tekken gives way too much notoriety and power in my opinion. I understand it's just a video game and it's where fiction should serve it's purpose. But all I'm saying is give Lei his Mf flowers 💐 and praise and energy that Law, King, Howrang, Leroy and the rest of the "real" fighting style characters get. I’d love to see a really drunk lei be the one to hold his own against feng. Feng couldn’t be taken down by law and Paul together, and Paul fought over, Feng legit made those 2 run away. Lei takes every fight as a joke while Feng very serious so they’re a fun match 🤣
Lei Wulong should definitely come back in Tekken 8, but as Season 1 DLC, not Season 2 because if he will be Season 2 DLC, that would be like a copy of Tekken 7 Season 2. Anyway, I really don't understand why he doesn't get more love and respect by some people because they keep saying that nobody plays as him and he has a low usage data, while in fact there are still players who play as him in Tekken 7 and in previous Tekken games. Well, I have to say that those people who are saying such things about Lei Wulong don't actually know how important he is. I kinda understand why Lei sorta didnt make it to T8 sadly. Its a DIFFERENT game with an emphasis on simplicity and less KNDs and full launching sweeps. Hes a dear to the Tekken franchise and I hope they eventually give him the T8 rework even if his kit gets simplified a lil bit.
Lei was the first tekken character I ever used back in tekken 2 mainly because i used to be a big fan of jackie chan as a kid and he reminded me of him. Same thing with law both of those characters were my go to's in every tekken especially in the past games

I’m actually learning a lot of from this n I would watch more legacy character videos. Lei protecting Steve was pretty wholesome too and I respect the character a bit more because of that. Now that I think about it, Tekken without the drunken fist is kinda whack, bring back Lei 😂

The issue with Lei is that he is not easy to use. He is def a character you have to put in a lot of work into to be successful with him. A lot of new players when they try him they drop him quick.. for someone easier like Paul. It also doesn't help that every new game adds more characters who are easy as hell to pick up. As a new player to the series.. Lei comes off intimidating. That is why i feel his player usuage is low.. its only the die hard lei fans playing him...but to all the new players and casuals who out number the hardcores... Lei is too difficult.
You make great points, the devs can always try nerfing him to appeal to the new comers and Beginners. They could remove the five form stances and make him like Tekken 2 again.. simple suggestion but I think it could work to him more appealing.
Not really. Casuals can be more successful with Mishimas because they have a basic moveset with the added benefit of electrics. Even if they can't do electrics they can still be successful with the characters in a casual setting. Lei has a bloated moveset filled with stances and transitions. To a new player his moveset can be intimidating and they don't know where to start... Which leads to them dropping the character for someone with a more straightforward moveset
My main character since Tekken 2 probably the reason why they didn't include Lei in Tekken 8 because of the monetization it's always money they will add him as DLC
Plus Feng and lei have the same style difftent forms, both use hung ga but lei uses the animal forms and drunken style, Feng uses base forms/Chinese kempo

played the demo, game is smooth like butter, still im not buying it until i see lei wulong in there. Just like i did with tekken 7. I don't think i would buy Tekken 8 if they don't release a Lei DLC. Lei is one of the awesome classic characters and a homage to the martial arts, but I dont think he will come back especially when he was DLC in last game. Newer games are targeted for younger audiences, and they dont really like martial arts or classic fighter archetype characters anymore. new gen fanbase are more interested in dolls and bears hahah :D which is a shame, but it is what it is :D
I play Lei for 18 years, so even if I switched on Kazuya 20 month ago, I still consider Lei has my main. But honestly I don't know how they can fit him with Tekken 8, his design is too specific ... ha ha step doesn't match, ground stances neither, so maybe he will come back for T8 but he'll be a different Lei.
Lei is not in the base roster because he is no longer part of the story where Tekken is blown into "God vs Devil" and no longer about Martial Arts. I doubt Lei will return to Tekken 8 because Tekken 8 is not about Martial Arts anymore. It is now Gods vs Monsters.

And judging by how much devs and harada are so tired of those fanbases, that also call them racist just cause a character isn't there, I feel like they won't be as open to fans suggestions this time, and as a dev myself, I think that it's actually better this way in a community that, ye is good I love it, but has really a lot of bad apples, way too many bad apples.

Lei as a character is kind of protagonistic. If he had a proper story continuation, he would've easily been one of the heroes in the series.

The issue with Lei is that he is not easy to use. He is def a character you have to put in a lot of work into to be successful with him. A lot of new players when they try him they drop him quick.. for someone easier like Paul. It also doesn't help that every new game adds more characters who are easy as hell to pick up. As a new player to the series.. Lei comes off intimidating. That is why i feel his player usuage is low.. its only the die hard lei fans playing him...but to all the new players and casuals who out number the hardcores... Lei is too difficult.
You make great points, the devs can always try nerfing him to appeal to the new comers and Beginners. They could remove the five form stances and make him like Tekken 2 again.. simple suggestion but I think it could work to him more appealing.

Not really. Casuals can be more successful with Mishimas because they have a basic moveset with the added benefit of electrics. Even if they can't do electrics they can still be successful with the characters in a casual setting. Lei has a bloated moveset filled with stances and transitions. To a new player his moveset can be intimidating and they don't know where to start... Which leads to them dropping the character for someone with a more straightforward moveset
My main character since Tekken 2 probably the reason why they didn't include Lei in Tekken 8 because of the monetization it's always money they will add him as DLC

played the demo, game is smooth like butter, still im not buying it until i see lei wulong in there. Just like i did with tekken 7. I don't think i would buy Tekken 8 if they don't release a Lei DLC. Lei is one of the awesome classic characters and a homage to the martial arts, but I dont think he will come back especially when he was DLC in last game. Newer games are targeted for younger audiences, and they dont really like martial arts or classic fighter archetype characters anymore. new gen fanbase are more interested in dolls and bears hahah :D which is a shame, but it is what it is :D

I play Lei for 18 years, so even if I switched on Kazuya 20 month ago, I still consider Lei has my main. But honestly I don't know how they can fit him with Tekken 8, his design is too specific ... ha ha step doesn't match, ground stances neither, so maybe he will come back for T8 but he'll be a different Lei.

Lei is not in the base roster because he is no longer part of the story where Tekken is blown into "God vs Devil" and no longer about Martial Arts.
I doubt Lei will return to Tekken 8 because Tekken 8 is not about Martial Arts anymore. It is now Gods vs Monsters.
As much as I like lei, I kinda understand why they wouldn't want to bring him back.

And judging by how much devs and harada are so tired of those fanbases, that also call them racist just cause a character isn't there, I feel like they won't be as open to fans suggestions this time, and as a dev myself, I think that it's actually better this way in a community that, ye is good I love it, but has really a lot of bad apples, way too many bad apples.
