    SHOOTING: • Shooting: Sig Sauer X6...
    I've only had this gun for a couple months but it's quickly become a favorite. It's a handmade high-end target version of Sig Sauer's classic P226. Build quality is stellar and makes a regular P226 look like a Lorcin. Performance at the range is similarly outstanding, as it's capable of groups of 1-2" at 50 yards. The Supermatch has several nice features, like the adjustable SAO trigger, skeletonized hammer, Hogue G10 grips, and the straight match trigger.
    The X6 and its sibling, the X5, are fantastic guns and are worth the high prices without a doubt.
    This review is admittedly a bit long because I tried to cover some of the many varieties of the new X-Line that are available, and I discussed the box contents for potential purchasers. I also misspoke about magazine capacity - they are 19-rounders.

    When you zoomed in/zoomed out you could hear the scrapping inside the camera. If you have a barrel type zoom lends you might want to take a very lightly isopropyl dampened clean cloth to it a few times. Whilst it won't affect the performance, in time it might loosen the "seals" enough for dust to go inside the camera.
    Again, if it's a barrel type and doesn't use inside optics. If the later is the case, that kind of sucks.
    Awesome looking gun. Hope you will enjoy it for many years to come.

      Check out the Pardini GT9 to see something that is about equal (perhaps even better) Than this. truly a tough call. As well as the HK P7 which is, imo, the best carry 9mm compact ever designed, and certainly the toughest, safest, yet fastest-reloading and operating striker-fired (also metal-on-metal striker so you get a trigger that is high-end 1911 quality out te gate)
      My other is the HK Mark 23 or MK23, I operated that in the military a few times, rarely left the SOCOM Armory due to its size unless you were working a mission where a rifle was a no-no at the time. At which point you take that fuckin mk23 and you rock your shit if need be, you rock tehe shit out of that shit)

      the Pardini GT-9 is easily as good as this gun so maybe look into one of those? I know I am at this point. Or a Nighthawk Custom 1911 in 9mm or .45 acp (I love 9mm but my carry is a colt M1991 a1 compact, I got HKs, SIGs, had a few Glocks all in 9mm, .45 and .40 and just can't get over that Colt-love and my SIG 1911 Scorpion, wielding that and the Colt makes me feel pretty elite heheh....)
      The Pardini GT-9 I just keep seeing in top-5 "best 9mm ever made lists" and I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better competition .22 pistol than what Pardini makes!

    • @jamescampbell4334
      @jamescampbell4334 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I "settled" on a slightly used Pardini GT9 6", was still over 2.5k.
      The 5 way adjustable trigger in the Pardini is superior to the Sig X series trigger in EVERY way.
      The GT9 will make you have to "recalibrate" your thoughts on what an exceptional trigger is.
      I've seen custom 1911 and old revolver guys go silent and wide eyed after breaking the trigger on my GT9.
      I have it set up to break at 2.2 lbs, absolutely ZERO creep, glass break, and around .005" overtravel.
      I've had several shooters state my Pardini has ruined them. It exposed how mediocre their once "favorite" handgun really is. 😄

    THAT is a SHARP looking gun!
    i love Sig P-series pistols.
    i had a West German P-226 9mm and a 1st gen P-229 .357 sig back in the early '90s.
    i had to sell them during hard times in 2008 and regret it every day since!
    i agree with most of your assessments but i must say my P-226 was every bit a tackdriver and sent many $3,500 custom 1911s scurrying for their holsters at the range.
    it routinely fired sub 1.5" 5-rd groups at 25 yds from a supported rest and an expert shooter friend fired a couple of .9" and 1.0" groups with it.
    i fired several 2"- 2.5" groups at 50 yds and several sub 6.0" groups at 100 yds.
    those early West German Sigs could definetely shoot!
    im sure your X-6 would take it to task but the old warhorse would give it a good go.
    thats a handsome gun there! youve got my hackles up for one now.
    the lighting and camera work really did it justice. nice work.
    and thanks for possibly costing me a couple grand!
    happy shooting!

    Man, what a GREAT review! What a GREAT pistol! I am jealous! :-) Out of curiosity why didn't you get one of the new P210 Legend Super Targets? Do you need the magazine capacity? I have an older West German P226 which shoots VERY well. I shoot 25m and 50m (standard Swiss distances for pistol - 300m for rifle). By the way (tongue in cheek bit coming) it's nice to hear an American talk about shooting further than 7 yards and wanting to get 1"-2" groups! Most guys on TH-cam seem to be into rapid fire and landing anywhere on a yard-high paper target!
    Very nice work - subscribed! All the best, Rob

    I find it crazy that a p226 is $700-800, and this super high end completely built from scratch full steel match gun is 2k, the difference is less than 3x. Yet a Glock can get some bits milled out, some bits coated, trigger redone and the frame stippled and dremeled, then a $500 gun becomes a 2k+ gun... I don't really understand that..

      The entire gun industry from the guns themselves is very overpriced from the guns to accessories. The houge grips in the video cost 200$ alone. The ridiculous prices make the getting into guns very unaccessible. I just bought a sig mpx carbine for 1600$ i paid 1400$ for a hk 45ct. At least sigs are actually worth a $1000+ where as H&Ks are only worth 500-600$. XDMs are more accurate and more reliable than H&K and they are half the price. Optics and viridian lasers and suppressors are not worth the prices either (all three of these things cost as much as 1-3 guns alone)

    Hand fitted match grade pistols cannot swap slides and barrel combos. They are built one at a time, by one person. Internals may be interchangeable. But NEVER slides and barrels.
    That isn't a hand built custom pistol.

    Great informational video 😊 I own a "standard" P226 and an XFIVE Supermatch. I know of the reputation of the Pardini, but I have not (yet) shot one.
    I agree with you on your shooting impressions and build quality impressions without a doubt. Also in comparison to the standard P226.
    I have not had the trigger position adjustment screw unscrew it self. I have even lubricated it, in order to always be able to unscrew it easily. I do not tighten it very hard.
    As you say: Go buy one of these 😊
    My only critisism on this gun, is that it takes some effort to shoot onehanded because my hands are large. I'm going to build my own wooden grip for it to fix the problem.
    And by the way: It is the most popular and respected 9mm semiauto at my gun club at the moment.

    I have an X-Five AL, so the alu lower you were talking about. The balance changes greatly compared to the steel lower versions. Preference on weigh & balance are personal but I like the AL just fine (slightly better than my Sphinx), it puts more proportional weight in front.
    Supposedly, the AL was born from the idea that (european) cops might like a match grade pistol (like the Sphinx or P210), but needed it to be lighter, since carrying dead weight on your belt all day is no fun. It never caught on for obvious reasons, but competition shooters shooting it fell in love with it due to the shifted balance. So Sig added the standard X-Five funnel back on and bam, they had another race gun in their line up.
    As for perfection, my X-Five has slight imperfections on top of the barrel, but that's purely visual and covered by the slide anyway.
    The only functional flaw I've observed is that when run long & hard (IPSC/BPSA), the slide does not always lock back when empty. I don't know if it's dirt build up or heat that causes that issue. Or potentially weakened mag springs.
    PS: MecGars cost significantly less than the Sig Branded ones and do the job just fine, if not better than the 'real' thing (which is also made by MecGar).

A pistols role is to make you feel confortable not to snipe your target instead of you so just take something that make you feel confortable while shooting all new firearms are equal in terms of capacities ( if we talk about same caliber same barrel lenge same etc.....) the only noticable difference is the person shooting. Also people tend to take the following example:"what would happen if we take to people with the same level and give them differents guns etc etc etc..." and im just like No. The one who feel more confortable will win the competition, people with exact same level dont exist.

      M5NSX you could be looking at a Mastershop version of the same firearm, which actually is the “top of the line”. Sig we see in this video is a premium firearm no question about that... But not the top of the line, because what “Performance Center” is to Smith and Wesson, Mastershop is to Sig, actually with Sig Mastershop the sky is the limit, if you search the internet for Sig Mastershop, you will see what I mean.
      Each Mastershop Sig is unique, because they are made to order, seen a few that were customized to a jaw dropping,
      drool-inducing and mind blowing level.
      Also, I though he said at 2:47, this gun comes with skeletonized trigger and hammer, unless he changed it, the trigger that’s on that gun is not skeletonized. You should search for the “skeleton X6 Mastershop” for a top of the line experience

      This are still available out of the Master Shop in Germany. Problem is because of an Export embargo out of Germany for all exports of SIG products to the US you cannot get them. SIG in NH does not have the expertise to make the Master Shop series the can't even repair them! I have the P226 X6 PPC that has an ejection problem that is still unresolved since 2013. SIG had it for two years and still have no fixed it, finally had them return it to me, they will not replace it and can't fix it. Trying to get it back to Germany for repair!

    • @christoperjohnson3815
      @christoperjohnson3815 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is part of the appeal for me--I've wanted a 226 for a long time but want nothing to do with an American made one. Cohen-SiG is garbage IMO. I wonder why there is an export embargo?

    • @rufous03
      @rufous03 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the SIG US sold several SIG's to some South American Country. The German Government slapped a trade embargo on SIG sales to North America

    • @christoperjohnson3815
      @christoperjohnson3815 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, I just googled it. What a bunch of shit. Sounds like someone in the German government has a problem with SIG.
      They sold to US, then WE sold them to Colombia. BS.

    G10 is pretty much fiberglass, the difference lies in the chemistry of the resins and the density of the material.
    Fiberglass is cured by heat just like G10 the only difference is fiberglass and hand laid carbon fiber are not under any pressure other than atmospheric.
    G10 is infused with resin and then pressed until the piece has cured.
    G10 will have many layers of glass mat where fiberglass will only have a few.
    A .5" piece of fiberglass may only have 4 layers, most of the weight is resin.
    A .5" piece of G10 will have a dozen layers and the resin only fills the gaps in the weave of the material.
    G10 is lighter and typically stronger than hand laid fiberglass, and its also more impervious to chemicals and is a better insulator.

      Where the X6 has that “thin glass rod breaking” feel of a trigger with no over travel, the Highpoint has that crisp world famous of a “Coors light bottle breaking behind your head in a bar fight” feel, with generous amounts of unpredictable over travel included with no extra charge.

    I can't shoot a pistol to save my life... and that's kinda what they're for. I owned an HK VP9 LE before I threw that shit away. I've put mags through a USP and a Mk23. Cool guns, but I can't hit a damn thing with them. I've shot Glock 19s and 17s, the Toyota Corolla and Camry, respectively, of the handgun world... meh. I even had an instructor put three different Wilson Combat 1911s in my hands. Fucking overpriced and overrated trash. Then my current boss insisted I try his X6... holy shit. It was a religious experience. It's the AR-15 of pistols: any talentless idiot can print the tightest of groups with this thing. This is the best handgun I've ever shot. If I'm ever dumb enough to buy another handgun, I will spare no expense to acquire one of these.

    • @LifeSizePotato
      @LifeSizePotato  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are continuously manufacturing them, but in low numbers. Demand isn't anything near what it is for other Sigs purely because of the price. You might want to get one soon, though, because Sig Sauer is moving production to the USA so these German-built guns will probably be collectible some day. Future USA-made guns might not be as good, either.
      And it should definitely be your next gun, it is fantastic.

    Hey Potato, I just recently discovered your channel and I just have to say wow... I'm so jealous of your collection, and your videos are absolutely epic. Great job brother. I have a question though, is that polygonal rifling in that barrel? I ask because I'm a big HK shooter (in fact out of my 5 guns only one isn't an HK lol) and from the quick angle you showed down the barrel, it looked to be polygonal rifling like my HK, rather than the lands and groove style in most handguns. Thanks man!

    I have reviewed the entry version (X-Press) of the new X - series on my channel as I own one in .40 S&W. Pretty good competition sports pistol if you aks me but they don't do better than the CZ TS or TS Czechmate. Those are actually cheaper and the czechmate is Open Class out of the box...Here you'll have to add an X mount,C-More and Comp and other Sig made stuff that will empty your bank account ...Anyway,nice video and narrations ! Thanks for sharing buddy.Best Regards. J

    What does the short barrel\slide cost? If i got a gun this expensive if probably have to get the short slide too, make me use it more and not worry about scratching the slide, also be nice to carry very very occasionally
    Also, do you have to send it in to get it fitted to the gun? im guessing the tolerances are super tight so it would be hand fitted to the frame?
    Good video as always keep em coming

    Hi and thanks a lot for the very interesting review of this amazing handgun.
    At 7:45 you say that the group is obtained shooting without a rest. Why they do not use a rest ? it is the only reliable test for accuracy. If i had to buy it i would be interested in the accuracy of the handgun not that of the shooter.

    hello there...
    it's an excellent gun. I bought an x-5 late 2013 and haven't looked back. I'm by no means "well off", but I do love quality products and will save for an item that is worth it. This sig x-5 is definitely worth it and will probably be my best hand gun for many years to come. I can't obtain (legally) a pardini since I live in California, but I can always endeavor the day I can shoot one. I'm currently in the market for a good/great quality ar 15 or alternative before the new 2017 law takes place in California. Any ideas will be appreciated.

    • @LifeSizePotato
      @LifeSizePotato  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not well-versed in all of CA's asinine laws, but Pardini does make 10-round magazines, so there may be a way for you to get one. (I'd obviously recommend you try to do so at some point!) As far as ARs, there are a lot of good makers out there - Daniel Defense and FN are a couple that come to mind for good guns at not-too-crazy prices. Or, get something like a Ruger or S&W and replace parts with ones you like for your goals. The CZ Bren 805 rifle is a good, high-quality alternative to ARs if you don't want to pay SCAR money but want something different.

      LifeSizePotato
      hello there...thanks for ur reply and just as an update I decided Not to get an AR or alternative because when the new 2017 law kicks in on Jan 2017 I will no longer be able to inherit down the bloodline (my children) or to any 1 else for that matter. That's right, when I die the new law states that the local PD will confiscate any AR style weapons and destroy them. I'm not willing to spend hard earned $$ on anything I can't legally inherit to my kids. Instead, I ordered a CZ 75 Tactical Sport. The ts orange isn't available in California or that's what I would be getting. I hope my new cz TS arrives soon so I can compare it to my p226 X-5. Once again, thx.

    It's intriguing that there are so many fundamentalist negative comments. Just like in the International Club for those who Love to Hate Apple or in the Ford vs. Chevy clubs... But anyway, I very much appreciate your presentations, but might I humbly suggest that you speak a bit more slowly? English is not my mother tongue and with your speed (like a brilliant horse race commentator :-)) I don't catch it all. Apart from that: Great!

    • @LifeSizePotato
      @LifeSizePotato  8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +Sten Møller I hear that a lot and will try to speak a little slower in my upcoming videos. I usually go fast because I don't want the videos to stretch on forever. I guess "you speak too fast" complaints are easier to hear than "your videos are too long." :-)

    • @stenmoeller
      @stenmoeller 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was a swift response :-)! I think you are thinking in the right direction, but if I may be so rude as to suggest that you do a little cut here and there - there are some sequences where you are kind of repeating yourself a bit in areas that are not part of the objective review of the gun. Minor quibbles, but as good as your reviews are, I think they deserve just that little final editing to make them outstanding. So keep up the good work!

    • @Thefrrst

      +Sten Møller Sure thing, In the bottom right corner of the video their are 4 icons. If you click on the one that looks like a gear it will bring up 5 settings, the middle one "speed" will adjust the speed that the video plays at.
