    Took a weekend to build and five seconds to crash. Gotta love this hobby 😂

    I remember building this kit as a kid (free flight only). Couldn't get it to fly straight to save my life. Even without out rubber-band power, it had a nasty tendency to drop one wing if it ever lost momentum or got hit by a breeze. Thinking back, it was probably a weight distribution problem.
    Cool build though.

    Hi Troy I have a west wings hawker hart and would love to convert it to RC but I literally have no idea where to start! Do you have any resources you could point me towards? Many thanks!

    Wow you’re really good at building these things! I’m planning on trying to build my own RC balsa wood airplane and this was very helpful!
    P.S. your cat is adorable :)

    That turned out really nice! Great job making those modifications. Looks like the kit quality has come a long way since the die cut (oops, darn spelling) days. Very well done!

    When it does not show you the plane flying, you know it did not turn out well.
    The moment I saw the motor of choice, I knew that was the beginning of the end.

      You definitely can! Start with a kit like the guillows cloud buster, super glue makes assembly fast. Figuring out how to build these wood planes is very relaxing and fun.

    Do you have a recommendation for a very easy balsa build, the one in your video to me is really complicated or too many parts.
    i am looking for something tral simple and not coverings gor s trainer about 40in.

    How many seconds did it stay in the air before crash? The fact you only showed a second of flying .. that appeared very dodgy, I can only but assume it did not last long. Your flaps ailerons are too big.

    • @TroyMcMillan
      @TroyMcMillan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a single servo in the center of the wing

    • @josephlanepope6430
      @josephlanepope6430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply! I saw the servo, I've just never seen flaps without a control horn unless I'm just overlooking it. Nice job regardless!

    • @TroyMcMillan
      @TroyMcMillan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josephlanepope6430 There is no control horn for the flaps I inserted a metal wire into the flap and bent it so it connected the other flap. The wire was then connected to the servo in the center.

    I tried to build this and all the wood looks rough and horrible on the horizontal and vertical stab none of the angles line up right and gaps and some of the pieces was made to short compared to the plans so it had gaps horrible experience unless this is a updated kit and that's why it looks so smooth and beautiful like it should. I have no problem with standard balsa rc plane kits hell even those huge box of wood dancing wings rc laser cut balsa kits off bang good with crappy instructions I can build and make beautiful rc balsa planes out of those overly built kits and they fly amazing and very sturdy and alser cut where you don't need to pin anything down to plans just attach the parts and they all jig together and once you get all pieces for that step together with out glue it will square it's self up and ready for glue very simple builds but takes a while cuse it is alot and alot of wood though and sometimes you gotta laminate balsa sheets for the rudder and elevator using clamps wood glue and medium ca to hold it all together with out clamps while the wood glue dries I can pretty much get all the wood glued together and servos in and ready for monokote in 8 hours using CA to help hold wood glued pieces together. Their big Cessna 45 inch wing span plane I built ready to fly in 16 hours 8 hours on sat and 8 on Sunday
