Man! That last knock off Air Hog plane unlocked some core memories from childhood. I used to be so fascinated by the air piston engine on my air hog. Not to mention those awesome tv commercials for them. “AIR HOGS!!!” 😂
I think the black plane uses a capacitor rather than a battery to power the motor. So the 15 seconds is probably just the time it takes to charge the capacitor and as long as you don't overvolt it, it won't explode. You can charge it for a week at the rated voltage and it will never explode. Cool little planes for sure!
I could see the child in Nate having the time of his life again! :-) BTW I wouldn't mind if you would every now and again venture out into stuff like this, like maybe rubber-powered planes? But I would fly them on grass ;-)
NOW THAT WAS FUN!!! Loved my Air Hawgs back in the day. Before that in the 80’s I spent many days with the balsa wood airplanes and a rubber band powered propeller. If you want to find the leak on that plane just pump it up and hold it under water in your bathtub. Maybe you could epoxy the leak if it’s just a crack from hitting the pavement or something.
I bought one of these original airhogs when i was 8 from walmart. I worked really hard to make my own money because my mother of 3 said 30 dollars was too much. None of my friends even knew they existed but i thought it was the coolest thing ever when it was on display at WM
Now that just looked like a whole lot of fun! You guys looked like two kids having the time of your life, and to be honest, I would have done exactly the same! Put a smile on my face.😁
Those may be cool, but nothing had more entertainment value for us kids back in the 70's than those cheap little .79 cent rubber band powered balsa kit planes you could buy at the 5 and dime store. Spent hundreds of hours winding up those plastic props until my fingers had a thousand cuts on them and were covered with blood. We flew those planes until all of the crashes finally broke the balsa beyond repair or until the plane got lost high up in a tree or on top of the roof of a neighborhood house. We would then just save up our spare change until we could afford to buy another little balsa basher plane kit. What a blast those little guys were!
I just found my old Air Hog plane. She still runs! No wings, rudder, or elevator, but i still have the pump and fuselage! Ill start the bidding at $50 lol
Great video guys. And good for you to try something new and breaking the mold a little bit. I like to see that. It may not be rc, but it flies and that's all that matters. Nice video good work
Thank you for the fun video. It reminded me of the old Cox gas control line planes I used to fly as a kid. My brother and I saved up Kelloggs box tops for a year and ordered an ALPHA 1 Rocket. It worked in Baking soda and vinegar. Like boys WILL DO, we overloaded it with too much vinegar and Baking soda, and shot it to the moon and back. That thing nearly exploded on the launch pad, but it went over 500 feet and was destroyed by the resulting crash landing. Some fun though.
Remember the plane/boat hydroplane I still have one! Batteries are no good anymore but the plane is in perfect condition as is the remote! I built a couple of them back then in to RC planes with hobby quality brushless motors /esc/servos and RX. Had a huge amount of fun with them. I have one of the havoc helis that still works and one of the subs that still works. The old airhogs stuff was as cool that's for sure.
In 1970 I and another made an airplane with a stick of paper that covered gum! It flew almost 20 minutes inside of 30 ft x 30 ft 12 ft room! It was the smallest airplane with an engine at the time. I will tell you how we did it if you like!
@@dinosaurus1143 I used Juicy Fruit gum. I ate the gum and the paper that the gum was contained, was flattened, then floated down the middle, then floated down the middle the outside edge, and then floated down the middle the outside edge! It was a jet! Then I had a plastic model cement, with out the smell, placed a drop of the cement leading edge of airplane! Then for the engine there was flys! At the time I could catch a fly flying and not hurt it! I glued the fly to the airplane! And let GO! It was an AI airplane with 1930 architecture! It flue around until a teacher got it!
I've still got an original Air Hogs from 25+ years ago. On its backup wing now and not flown in ~25 years but I was so impressed with its motor its become a shelf-queen. Why that motor design hasn't become more popular is beyond me! Golf carts with solar sun-shades running an air-compressor? I live 8-miles round-trip from town. A 500W solar panel (and back-up battery) should make that easy. What a neat motor design!
A hundred and thirty seven plus plus ++ dollars and it gets treated like this ? This is why children grow up and never understand the concept of money nor how to try and look after their toys. So sad. Trashed in four minutes.
I have a very unique suggestion~! Why not have a second channel talking about toys! Like maybe Beyblade X or Bakugan or Card Games! Or maybe you could have it randomly appears in this channel too! Amazing stuff you guys always ☺️
The bladder is probably “hot” due to the compression of the molecules that make up the air in the bladder thus increasing their average kinetic energy(temp.) and increasing the frequency of collisions between molecules which also contributes to an increase in total k.e.(heat). (The phenomenon you observed is sometimes called the heat of compression). Sorry for the mini lesson…but I taught Chemistry and Physics for more than 30 years. Great channel content by the way. I used to do a lot of building and flying of RC airplanes and was on the cover of many magazines back in the 1990’s. The last one I was on was Nov. 1998 Model Aviation with my 38% One Design which is now hanging from the ceiling of my shop. I need to get back to flying now that I have young grandchildren.
Let's go more than 15 seconds. Lol. I bought the original Air Hogs planes for my boys. Hours of fun. Still have a NIB waiting to share with my grandkids. Sometimes the simplest of toys are the most fun.
I spent two hours on the phone with the inventor Henry Pasquat in Toronto in 1999 while research ling and preparing for the first airshow of it's kind in the Seattle Kingdome. He was working towards rc planes that were as safe as possible. Crash into yourself and not get hurt kind of stuff.
Years ago a friend got one of those capacitor planes for his young son, we took it to a park and on it's first flight it flew REALLY well! We watched it fly away until we couldn't see it anymore!
Air Hogs were no joke!! I still have 2 of them but internal battery needs to be replaced, they get old and stop holding a charge. I hope they make a comeback!
Fun is the key word. Reminds me of a cable line rc plane when I was younger. You held the battery/motor assembly (looks like a big flashlight) in your hand which goes to thin a 8 ft cable attached to the plane. You start up and turn to allow the plane to take off. The plane had no motor. The cable spun inside a plastic/rubber tube turning the prop on the plane. A variation of control line planes...just not as dangerous.
My father started in the hobby during 1950's. And planes were basically free flight. No rc. Start the nitro engine and throw it in the air. And today we still have people doing that. Pretty cool to see these new technology. Also back then we had these co2 free flight also. :) Be cool that you do a free flight of co2. Co2 uses like the co2 cartiage and motor is basically also piston driven. So cool :)
Hey Nate. I had an awesome Air Hog. Last flight was on a July 4th weekend. It climbed 30 feet up and flew a perfect straight flight hundreds of feet into 10 foot high corn. Never saw her again, but we had a blast flying it. Your black recharge plane flew nice.
I don't know if you guys remember those airplanes that had a long metal rod connected to it and you held the motor control in your hand and you could fly it around by guiding it were you wanted it to go. It was kinda like having a plane on a leash 😂😂👍🏾. Like the video guys
You need to trim the horizontal and vertical stab, or even the wing leading edge as an aileron to make it fly smoother. I did it and its fly awesome for a toys 👍
$ 8.99 😬. It is a worlds smallest toy brand but there are better toy planes at the dollar tree IMO the original air hogs were so awesome I remember getting one for Christmas and played with it in the snow that black plane is great also fun video. Thanks for the links just ordered the twin pack electric plane. Cant wait 😀
4:17 that is incorrect the "battery will not explode" if you go more than 15 seconds. Those planes do not have a battery in them. They are using capacitors to store the energy not a battery.
Capacitors can still explode if overcharged. It’s much more of a danger since they recharge very rapidly compared to batteries. Always be careful when handling electronics.
@@_BL4CKB1RD_ they can't really explode, they can only explode if the volts are more than the maximum rating, 2 AA batteries wouldn't explode the capacitor, I know electronics
in most of those planes they use super capacitors and those won't explode if you charge them for too long, but they can explode if you charge them over the rated voltage
The original Air hogs were much better. They should bring it back. To keep people from over pressurizing it, Air hogs can add a small pressure relief valve to the tank.
There is no battery in that black one it has a supercapacitor in it. They charge fast and release energy fast. It would not work with a battery. They are just capacitors that can store energy really fast. It will not blow up. They won't take any more energy and cap off.
NATE'S walk down memory lane!! This was educational cuz I've never heard of these Flyers (?)! This video was produced with the power of FUNTONIUM... who remembers THAT term/sticker?? Thanks Saylors for really entertaining me tonight!! 💟👍😎
I haven't ever found anything like it since. So perfect for what they were. I had 2 and we did full contact dogfight with em. They lasted forever though
The reason the air reservoir gets hot when you pump it up is that air's ability to hold heat is based on volume. One cubic foot of air holds the same amount of heat, whether it's at ambient pressure, or compressed to 1000 psi (scuba tanks get really hot as they get filled). As you pump air in, you're compressing a larger volume of air into a smaller volume space, and it must shed the excess heat. The opposite effect can be observed as well. If you rapidly decompress a container of compressed air or other gas, the container will feel cold, as the remaining air begins absorbing heat to replace that which was carried out by the released gas. By the way, I still have one of those old Airhogs planes here...
I got the original airhog for my birthday when it came out my brother and I threw it twice and on the second throw it took an uneven landing in grass and split the wing. It came with a spare but even as a child I wasn’t optimistic so I went and returned it to toysrus. That being said, this little guy seems to be pretty resilient after slamming into pavement a few times
Im only 18 and had like 10 of those and would spin it so much to the point it would take off on it’s own from the ground and if you threw it you never seen it agin or it just broke bc it went so high and fast
Man, making me feel old. I was in high school before air hogs started with their stuff... only thing we had was water rockets...and gas powered string control planes...which were both cool, but when am radios became less pricey you can bet I got a trainer.. 😂 good old right flyer 40T
Here is what I got from this video...Abby isn't thrilled with your childhood toys... 😂 She also made sure she filmed you looking at instructions. Her comments in this video are worth the watch alone... 😆
I do see the adjustable control surfaces on that air hogs type one. And yeah, hours and hours can be spent tweaking those things and playing with them, while getting a firm grasp in how control surfaces and aerodynamics work for the kiddos. A great summertime. outdoor fun thing for sure.
My first flying RC was a Air Hogs micro helicopter, i flew that thing until blades develop so much slop it was to hard to fly 🤣 it was a stepping stone into coaxial RC helicopters and eventually collective pitch helicopters! I can do some mild 3d with my blade 230s and just now I'm realizing it all started with that awesome little blue Air Hog ❤️
I definitely get the excitement regarding these air fog toys! I bought a fair share of them myself when these were popular! Heck I still get excited over those balsa wood glider you could buy at any convenience store! Those were way to fun!😂🙌👍🏻
That feeling of accomplishment is way I fly free flight. Plus I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to get the same feeling. I started flying RCs in 1993 joined AMA 1994, now back to flying more and more free flight, just for that reason. I just can't get in to the foamies as much because, I'm not big on filling a landfilled full of foam, and balsa can be tossed in a fire when it is fully retired. One thing that has made RC much better is the electric motors now my model last 10 years or more because the fuel is not dissolving the covering. Nate it was awesome seeing your joy of flight with these free flight toys, I too flow them as a young man.
I remember buying an air hog plane and being excited to watch it fly. Standing outside in my yard, I pumped it up and sent it into the sky. It made about two circles around the yard then took off in a straight line never to be seen again 😂
I'm 43 and I have no idea what all this nostalgia is about. When I was a kid we had stickball, you hit a rock with a stick, or your grandpa's cane. Baseball bats didn't exist. Baseballs ? Only MLB could afford real balls The NFL still used baby pigs as balls There was that really popular Mayan game where you hit round stones with your elbow. We had to walk past wooly mammoths on the way to school, which was a factory school where they taught us how to dip matchsticks into phosphorus vats and we all got black lung or you worked in the mills and got "textile lung" Good times. I don't know what this newfangled Air Hogs is, back in my day the Wright brothers were the only pilots! A loaf of bread cost a ha'penny and a whole chicken was a nickel. Coss, yew hadta kill'n skin dat chick'n yesself, aw dang, my words done got olde fasshined tew. Shee-yit, I'm a hillbilly now dad gum it! I lost my pretty words thinkin' 'bout da ye olde tymes. And early times whiskey done it tew!

Nate that was a cool video my bro and I did the same we built balsa gliders and threw them off look outs and hillsides , thanks for the best childhood memories
Had these as a kid as well with the airhogs quick charge plane from like 2002.
last one was a scam, it costs 5-10 dollars here

The wife is a keeper. Where on Earth would you find one who's interested enough in doing a video w/ you about airplane toys?
I feel the same way about my girl the key is putting full attention into her Intrests as well if you show your girl your interested in what she cares about if she’s a good person it’s gonna be reciprocated
Is air hogs coming back????
Hopefully
I miss that brand of rc!
Bro, right? I had an air powered air hogs plane back in the day. Loved that thing until it got caught in a tree!
Those got me into it, i had one of those airhogs air pressure engine planes when i was younger :')
That would be awesome 😂😂😂😂😂

I saw a video someone took the little black plane and made it an RC, fast little plane. Thanks for sharing.
I'm only 40 I remember getting a cox p50 mustang on a tether only went around in circles loud af
And a finger smasher too! That's what I started with, man we are getting old.
Isn't it great when you find something that reminds you of those carefree days of childhood?? We all need that!
Awesome I used to love my air hogs plane! Going to buy a mini one for a trickshot video also!
This was the best throwback I never knew I needed…I loved airhogs and had so many! I also loved the micro planes and had a few!
I could see the child in Nate having the time of his life again! :-)

Love your antics, when demonstrating any model

Thank you.

The air hogs aeroscout sport was the most fun I've ever had with an RC airplane. I hope they make a comeback! I've been searching for one for years.
I converted an Air Hogs F16 to a 1s brushless motor RC plane a long time ago It actually flew very well. I put all 4 channels,
Ahhhh yes, a scale model of my first plane ever back in 1998!
Remember those giant gliders too?! Just styrofoam. Knocked a kid down and the wings flew out. I cut my losses. Think it was from a grocery store 😂
I have one of these sitting on my table right now. Lol. Big ole one
Fun video and great little planes! 😎✌️

Abbie: I lost count
Nate: We're getting close
Me: ITS BEEN 15 SECONDS ITS GOING TO EXPLODE AHHHHH!
i havent seen a airhogs plane since early 2000s!
This is just awesome! Ohhh man the memories this brings back. You just KNOW I'm getting these for my "throwback" hangar. 😊

Maybe test fly them standing in the grass area next time for softer crash landings - just a thought... Nice planes though
Agreed but on second watch, they're at an actual landing strip so it's kinda cool n overlooked. Also they land in grass every crash

@@Cakey831 I can't remember the name of it but it sounds familiar
Yup. I'm definitely old when this is new lol
Haha, I feel the same my friend! 😁😅💯👍⚓️
You need to trim the horizontal and vertical stab, or even the wing leading edge as an aileron to make it fly smoother. I did it and its fly awesome for a toys 👍
Here is the video:

$ 8.99 😬. It is a worlds smallest toy brand but there are better toy planes at the dollar tree IMO the original air hogs were so awesome I remember getting one for Christmas and played with it in the snow that black plane is great also fun video. Thanks for the links just ordered the twin pack electric plane. Cant wait 😀
Abby and Nate, y'all rock! Love the channel and content. Peace
This guy is such a dork. I love it.
Awesome first comment here!
@@Lgwasherfan5623yes ur right, I was just talking in general.
@@_BL4CKB1RD_ makes sense
Abby was like something somebody and Nate was like launch!!!
This was a fun video. Happy to seem something related but different every once in a while. How about giving a control line airplane an episode?
Mini Airhog listing says "works just like the original" lol
lol, not quite… 😂😅💯⚓️
I used to have a Air Hog back in the day this is awesome 👏 😊😊😊😊⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️
I had one as a kid in early 2000s
You’re such a kid! Awesome!
It's actually a small super capacitor. Not a battery. Nice video 👍
The rubberband Balsa wood planes was my Jam in the late 70's.
Thank God for everything especially the RCSaylors!! Amen!
in most of those planes they use super capacitors and those won't explode if you charge them for too long, but they can explode if you charge them over the rated voltage
The Air Hogs Havok Heli was my intro to flying RC. Based Air Hogs
The original Air hogs were much better. They should bring it back. To keep people from over pressurizing it, Air hogs can add a small pressure relief valve to the tank.
Looks like alot of fun!!
The old air hogs rc bi-plan was my first rc aircraft. 2 channel, rudder and throttle.
Man am i old!we had balsa wood planes with rubber band power 🤔😎🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷
Im only 18 and had like 10 of those and would spin it so much to the point it would take off on it’s own from the ground and if you threw it you never seen it agin or it just broke bc it went so high and fast
@@BassHopesAndDreams I didn't know they still made those!! 👍
Those were fun!😄
My grandpa bought me an original Air Hogs for my 12th birthday and i LOVED that thing! :D
Nothing brings a smile to people's face like a toy airplane.
This supposed to be fun? Fun for me was enjoying watching yall do it. Thanks for the video.
So much fun! I remember
Looking So Cool
Should get those tiny air compressors with a pressure gauge so that you don't over pump and don't get sweaty
I did not know you can get air powered planes, I used to have rubber band engine planes younger. They sound cool and look fun.
I've never felt so old while being in my early 30s lol
I'm 43 and I have no idea what all this nostalgia is about.
When I was a kid we had stickball, you hit a rock with a stick, or your grandpa's cane.
Baseball bats didn't exist.
Baseballs ? Only MLB could afford real balls
The NFL still used baby pigs as balls
There was that really popular Mayan game where you hit round stones with your elbow.
We had to walk past wooly mammoths on the way to school, which was a factory school where they taught us how to dip matchsticks into phosphorus vats and we all got black lung or you worked in the mills and got "textile lung"
Good times.
@Boogie_the_cat Well, that escalated quickly.
