- Hi guys! here is the link to the portfolio information on UAL's website www.arts.ac.uk... AND here are a few key things they look for (copied directly from their site)
1) Visualisation skills (e.g. drawing, photography, 3D works)
2) Research and investigative skills
3) Creative thinking and problem solving abilities
4) The use of a range of materials and processes
5) An interest in art, design or related subjects.

hello, thanks for great explanations of your portfolio, i have a few questions to ask: 1. do we have to show research with explanations and inspiration in every work of art and design we make, or is it ok to show them in some ones and not in other ones?
2. should i annotate and explain what message the painting and drawing conveys in portfolio, or should i let the painting speak itself, what did you do, did you annotate that?
3. did you provide links to galleries and websites in portfolio, if i did get inspiration from the world around me and experiences i had what should i do, as i do not have any inspiration from specific webs and books.

The online portfolio tool is so frustrating because it hinders you to only 45 Images or videos :( I have so much more and am so stuck on what to do haha

i live in London.I love it here .My recommendation is to go to oxford circus and bond street.Mainly central London.

I’ll be honest don’t keep your hopes up they accept like 20 people per course and they get hundred and thousands of applicants

So by research they mean research of materials! So experimentation counts as research! So using different types of mediums within a project to try and find what works better for your final piece is “research”

Hi! I'm applying to CSM this year and i'm preparing my portfolio at the moment but they've asked for 30 pages, I was just wondering if this was everything you put in or if you had not inluded some bits in the video? Love your portfolio though it helped so much!
i'm applying this year too and they told me it used to be 20 pages for a mini portfolio but it is 30 now because of corona or something? good luck on your app!!

@@kc2513 (i dont know if u r replying to me or not HAHA but) i'll be applying as home student for foundation year, its probably different for different courses? idk, uk stuff is very confusing to me
@@CynthiaBoyce it's "no more than 30 images"- so this implies that you can submit less than 30! (right??) but also yes probably different for each course so just check the requirements.

Oh meu deus!!! Eu candidatei-me para Camberwell também na UAL este ano e estava exatamente na mesma situação de pesquisar portfólios e não encontrar nada para universidades no UK, por isso ainda bem que já começam a haver alguns vídeos!
Também me aconteceu ser aceite sem ter de fazer a entrevista o que achei estranho, maaas eles lá sabem!

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! So basically UAL has there own website platform to upload your portfolio pages (so these slides that I show in the video). I uploaded each one individually and then they give you a text box underneath the page to explain your work!

Hi! Yes you can but it depends on what course you’re applying to as some require the foundation course! You’d have to check the entry requirements page for the courses you’re interested in!💗

Yes I used procreate! But you can use microsoft PowerPoint, indesign, anything you feel comfortable with!

Hi! So I'm currently doing fashion styling and production! I started off doing the diagnostic pathway during foundation at CSM and then decided on my course afterwards! So don't worry about that! They're also super supportive :)

I am also a student from the states that was accepted into CSM this year. I wasn't called for an interview. Maybe it has something to do with being international...?
I applied for foundation and got accepted as well. No one had interviews because covid. I’m from London and mine was cancelled too.

Hi! Most of my fine art pieces are things I did at school, but then towards the end it’s things I did in my spare time 💗
what were the programmes you used to make your digital nude drawings and architecture drawings?
Hi! The architecture drawings were on AutoCad, and the drawings were on procreate!
I'm not on Instagram so I'm telling my query her... We don't have a diploma course in our school for fine arts and so that is a big problem for me... And I specialise in landscape of oil pastel and soft pastel... I'm learning body figures for fashion designing and I've got many ideas for some dresses in women's wear..... I am learning lettering and doodling... I'm not much in 3D art but I do know photography... So I wanted to ask if these many things will help or not for my portfolio 😁😁

I am actually planning on applying to UAL this year but from whatever knowledge I have gained so far I think UK colleges, in specific UAL requires a good amount of other works like sketchbooks and stuff besides the 15-20 works right??
Hi!💗 no it’s just the 15-20 pieces which are actually just the number of slides! Doesn’t need to be 15-20 different art pieces! And then you have to carefully select what u want to show in these 15-20 pages! You can choose to show sketchbook if you would like which is what I did as well!

Hi! It depends on the course! So for foundation it was 10-20 pages, and for my degree course it was up to 30 pages as per the portfolio requirements! And then for each page you can put as many as you want as long as theyre related to the same theme but I would put a max of 2 or 3

Hi! Sorry for the late reply! Yes I built it on my own and I didn’t do the portfolio preparation course! I just created it on what I felt made sense for me and what pieces best showcased myself as a creative!

@@luisafmbarros That's awesome! I had a few questions after looking over their website though. For the 20 pages mini portfolio did you organize it in independent projects or just random selection of best works? Is it any different from the full portfolio? Thanks :D
Seleee hii!! So yeah the order I show it in the video is the order that I sent it to them in! I basically showed work that I’m proud of and that has a variety of media! I grouped them by projects, so for example the first 2 pages are one project ( I start out with the final result and then later show experimentation within the same project on a different page), and then I keep doing that with the rest! I would say it’s the same thing as the full portfolio but just more selective with the pieces you show!
