  • Pope John Paul II said that what modern man needs-and is missing-is an "adequate anthropology", or, a full understanding of what it looks like to be human. Over the course of his pontificate, he gave it his best shot using the entirety of scripture, 2,000 years of church teaching, and the latest scientific understandings of the human person.
    Today, we call it the Theology of the Body. And it will change the way you look at yourself and your purpose in life.
    Fr. Mike Schmitz gives us an introduction to the Theology of the Body and invites us to his 4-part series diving deeper into these incredible mysteries. Sign up for the whole series for FREE here: www.ascensionpress.com/tobtalk/

    Thank you for putting this 4 part series together. We live in a world were human life is considered cheap and something that should be exploited for the amusement of others. If there were anytime in our history when we needed to be reminded of our human dignity, and that we are more than simple instruments for the enjoyment of others, this is the time to be reminded of that fact.

    3:32 - - Freedom is made possible by GOD’S GRACE.
    4:06 - - we are called to live freely 🕊️ - -
    4:14 - - “For _freedom_ Christ has set us free.”
    4:26 - - we are still under the law - - but - - in Christ we are no longer _bound_ by the law.
    4:44 - - _In Christ we are led by the Spirit. _*_And those who are led by the Spirit are no longer under the law_* 😇🐑🕊️
    Meaning - - we are given a new heart 🤍💚❤️
    4:54 - - St. Pope John Paul II explained/described this transformation of heart as being given a new interior “ethos” ❤️‍🔥😇🕊️
    Thanks 😊🙏🏻 Fr. Mike! 🧔🏻‍♂️💒👍🏻👍🏻❤️‍🔥🐑🕊️

    Thank you, Fr Mike, for offering this four-part series for free. My husband (Anglican church worker) and I (Methodist pastor) have been very blessed by the series. We watch this on our Sabbath, and it has made our Sabbath delightful. We always look forward to watching each new lecture. Sadly, we're halfway through - two more weeks and we'll be done! - and we wish we knew where to get more such teaching.

I’m looking to get a bible that has like a modern translation that’s not that hard to understand (I’m barely 19 and I don’t really understand old English 😅), so wanted to see if the great adventure bible was a good one or if there are others better. Hey father Mike, hope you're doing well. I have to say about what you said about snakes...those don't bother me so much as long as they don't bother me, other than that I think they are cool looking. Lol and we'll spiders...that's a completely different ballgame for me. As long as they don't bother me, but they still give me the heebie jeebies. Lol. But I also have to agree with some of what you were saying in your video.

    Hey father Mike and Ascension, I’m a long term lover and supporter of this awesome channel! I’m not one to be caught up in politics or recent news that’s upsetting but Harrison Butker’s speech and representation of the Catholic Church has been inescapable in the past days. I was hoping you might consider making a video on this and making clarifications on where the church stands. I feel like many people were offended and now have a bad perception of the church, which is not good. I’m thinking a video may help people to understand and have peace with our beliefs. Thanks for your consideration. ❤️

    Hope this is helpful. It's the new hobby..Here is the rewritten text:
    Harmful view:
    "...the Church teaches about human sexuality...sometimes it feels a little bit anemic, right, that's at best, it feels anemic at best, and it feels like it's simply a list of prohibitions..."
    Corrected view:
    "The Church teaches about human sexuality, recognizing the beauty and complexity of human relationships, and offering guidance for healthy and fulfilling expressions of love and intimacy."
    Harmful view:
    "...we all find ourselves in some way, our broken hearts, want to break God's laws..."
    Corrected view:
    "We all face challenges and struggles, but through God's grace and love, we can find healing, forgiveness, and the strength to live fulfilling lives."
    Harmful view:
    "...the law...doesn't mean that the law isn't there anymore...to not be bound with a law means this...Yes, the law is there for those who want to break the law..."
    Corrected view:
    "The law serves as a guide, but our focus is on living with compassion, empathy, and kindness. We strive to understand and support each other, rather than simply following rules or avoiding punishment."
    Harmful view:
    "...our ethos...repels us from something else...But all of us find ourselves in some way, our broken hearts, want to break God's laws..."
    Corrected view:
    "Our individual values and beliefs shape our actions and decisions. When we struggle, we can turn to God's love and grace for support and guidance, rather than judgment or condemnation."

    Imagine that I actually had a relationship with God. Imagine that God heard me when I prayed and answered me. However, the first statement doesn’t exist because the second statement has never happened.

      @SamScott99 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Why do you think that?

    • @markantonelli53
      @markantonelli53 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SamScott99 I think that because I’ve never experienced what one is supposed to experience when God hears one’s prayer. It’s quite difficult to have a relationship with someone who doesn’t hear you when you talk to them. Unfortunately, nobody has been able to tell me why I should continue attempting to have a relationship with God given that God continues to ignore me.

    • @AshleyNicole-ei2qc
      @AshleyNicole-ei2qc 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@markantonelli53I have found that God hearing my prayers is often not the answer I want/expect. It is never some mystical voice in my head. It is never a sign on the side of the road. This is because God hearing my prayers is not him giving me the answer I want… it’s the answer I need. If I pray for my leg to be healed in time for a race, one might expect God to heal my leg in time because it’s for a good cause. The truth is, God did not heal my leg in time for reasons I don’t know yet and may never know. Prayer is not to get answers or decisions from God. It is simply acknowledging and reflecting on your own emotions. God reveals ALL in due time. Pray for patience. And I will be praying for your relationship with God to blossom

    • @markantonelli53
      @markantonelli53 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@AshleyNicole-ei2qc God doesn’t seem to reveal understanding of His word, nor does He seem interested in granting me the desire to read it, or pray, or attend Mass. All these things I thought were in His will for me to have, yet He still has not granted me ANY of them. You want to pray for my relationship with God to blossom? If it hasn’t happened because of my prayers for it to happen, I can’t imagine you praying for it will make a difference.

    • @AshleyNicole-ei2qc
      @AshleyNicole-ei2qc 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@markantonelli53understanding His Word is more on your end than His. It take commitment and repetitive reading. I don’t believe anyone will ever understand His word 100% at any point in their lives- it’s a never ending lesson. And desiring anything faith based is not something God can give you, in my opinion, because we have free will. It has to be your choice to go to Mass or read scripture because you know it will contribute to your spiritual journey, not because God is influencing you to. It’s in His will for you to have it, but it’s up to you to work for it. And I know your relationship will blossom simply from my experience myself. The fact that you felt inclined to leave your original comment is something that I would have done in the past. I’ve felt how you felt. Building a relationship with God is not easy and for some of us takes “too long”. Don’t give up on Him.
