I had two jays at our house, one in the tree and one eating. When the one eating dropped a peanut and went down to get it a squirrel rushed the bird. The jay on lookout buzzed the rodent and made a hawk noise and there was nothing left of the rodent but a vapor trail!
Here in Northern California, we have the California Scrub Jay. If you're ever at a loss for an animal to cover, I'd love to learn more about the many species of Scub Jays.
Two questions - (1) Why do you think the Beanie Baby blue jay was labeled as "Rocket"? And (2) Is there a biological relationship between the blue jay, the green jay and the gray jay?
We have lots of Scrub jays in mid northern California ,,the Stellar jays are prevalent way up north in Washington state & probaby Oregon and in colder mountain regions

@@AnimalFactFiles He's starting to get better! When I found him he was disoriented and had a limp. Now he's hopping and fluttering around my living room. He's also accepting food by hand; I gave him peanuts and bits of wheat bread. I don't want to keep him too long so I might release him tomorrow and back to living his life :)
