    with jinx shooting silco it was defs a more reflex action. no matter what she has always loved vi and had wanted to protect her, and as soon as she heard silco aim for vi she shot. but in doing so she got rid of the person who gave her the love she so craved as the person she was at that moment. i love how much of a mess it was. i think a big problem was that vi just didn’t understand jinx, and it’s not her fault she was locked away and not given the time to get to understand, but yeah. a big example? the final moments before jinx shot silco. for vi remembering mylo and vander etc would be positive memories for her but for jinx? they are her trauma. i love arcane so bad ugh

    • @4Tom4lepus4
      @4Tom4lepus4 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Vi also still thinks that Jinx is brainwashed or there is a Powder to go back to. That's not the reality of it though, and Jinx even tried explaining it to her. "I changed". She's not the same person as before (and neither is Vi), but Vi doesn't want to or cannot understand this... which is why she then repeatedly triggers a number of terrible breakdowns or events.
      And it’s not her fault, just like with Jinx, it's Vi's trauma. Revenge & living in the past (Vi) vs avoiding the past & trauma altogether (Jinx).

    I think is very sad and beautiful that even in the end, Silco did not feel like Jinx was betraying him... he don't even cared that she shoot him... He really loved her...

    • @Goomsies
      @Goomsies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think it's worth noting that he loved Jinx, not Powder. He did everything he could to make sure she'd never go back to being a sane, normally functioning person who could coexist with her sister.
      He wasn't a good person. The fact that so many people think he was "beautiful" or "decent" underneath all the bad is kind of disconcerting.

    • @RaixsOreh
      @RaixsOreh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      @@Goomsies normal functioning person? She got a mental breakdown just because Vi asked her to stay behind at the bar.
      The truth is, Powder is deeply affected by the tragedy in episode 3. And I'm sure that Silco was deeply traumatized as well when Vander almost killed him.
      If Silco didnt enter Powder's life after episode 3, she wpuld have been stuck in a mental asylum.

    • @Goomsies
      @Goomsies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RaixsOreh And that breakdown was caused by the attachment issues she developed when her parents died, yeah. What I meant to say was that she'd be relatively functional.
      Silco may have been a loving father, but he pushed her mental state further and further away from healthy the whole time she was with him. It may seem like he was giving her the things she needed, like time off after she messed up the mission in episode 4, but those things weren't helping her enough. He was constantly pushing her to forget her past instead of facing it, and that clearly messed her up.
      The bottom line is, while he might have had decent intentions in the way he handled his relationship with Jinx, he only pushed her further into insanity. That, combined with the fact that he's extremely evil outside of that relationship, makes him not only a bad person, but also a bad influence on Jinx's mental state. He wasn't the great father figure for Jinx that everyone seems to think he was, is what I'm saying.

    • @Goomsies
      @Goomsies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@LazzyVamples He may have been a loving father figure, but he let his own trauma shape the way he dealt with Jinx's issues. He made her mental state far worse than it was when he found her by constantly pushing her to forget her past instead of facing it. He knew she had to do that, but didn't want to take the risk that she would hate him for the part he played in her family's deaths. Instead, he tried to delete the old Powder in favor of a new, mentally messed up Jinx.

    Silco's relationship with Vander by itself is enough to write essays. I also agree that Silco didn't hate him but also didn't forget or forgive him. He still hates the betrayal itself but now he finally understood what drove Vander to that point.
    Hell, it was pretty clear even in episode 3 that Silco only targeted Vander because he needed Vander gone to bring the undercity under his rule before he could set his eyes on Piltover and Zaun's independence.

    I love the interpretation that Silco went so insane during Jinx’s breakdown because he saw Jinx was having a breakdown because of why Vi was telling her and he wanted to kill Vi to stop that which caused Jinx to shoot him

      Silco isn't malicious, he's ruthless and believes the ends justify the means. I wouldn't say he's evil in the sense a serial killer is. Silco doesn't like what he has to do, he just thinks 8t has to be done and he is strong enough to endure it. That's why so many people find him so interesting. He's a pragmatist and thinks this the only way to achieve his goal and the outcome is worth the price.

    Speaking of physical imperfections, I like how they actually bothered to remember the non major injuries that became scars. Jayce has a scar on his cheek from the shard of glass that hit him in episode 3, and Vi has the scar on her lip she got from the knife when she was fighting two people at the same time on the bridge (also in episode 3). Neither scar were "important" or particularly prominent, yet they remembered them anyway. And we all have little scars that add up over the years (physical and mental), so it was a really nice detail.

    To touch on your point on skin and insecurities, I love that Silco covers up his mutated face with makeup. It really shows how much of his "crime boss" persona is carefully crafted. Even though his face could work to his advantage to intimidate, there might be a part of him that just doesn't want it to define him, or maybe he feels like he would be perceived as weak if people saw how progressively worse his condition is getting, so he covers it up. To me, it's a parallel with Vander, who had his arm covered, perhaps for similar reasons.
    In the water scene where he baptizes Jinx, he wipes his face with the same water that messed him up, wiping away the makeup. This once again, showing how comfortable he is with her, he doesn't need to be ashamed or worry about looking weak, just like she shouldn't with him.
    Truly a marvelously nuanced relationship.

    • @smileyhappyface5864
      @smileyhappyface5864 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The way I interpret the makeup is this: As best seen with the baptism scene, he wants people to see the day he almost died not as a tragedy, but as an eye-opening experience that he learned important stuff from (hence why he just dips Jinx in the water and acts like it's the same as his experience). It's why he references his eye quite a bit when talking about his understanding. He hides the scarred part that makes his eye look like an actual injury both as part of his carefully crafted respectable persona, but also so he can remind people not to see their bruises and scars as weaknesses, even if they hurt.
      Healthy? Probably not, but it's oddly inspiring.

    See from my perspective I'm more on Vi's side in the beginning then Jayce. Vi's seen way too much of it to just pass it off, and I mean she's not wrong. He's never had to suffer from the things Vi, or the children have. He's young and inexperienced things will slip past him, I get that, but he's never had to as Vi says "look it in the eye." I think she meant him and the council as whole, which I mean to be fair, they have done nothing, but I can see how it can come off in poor taste. Then again, to be fair, you guys have way more empathy towards Jayce then I have lol Lastly, I don't think Jayce is a bad person at all, truthfully, just in that situation I think Vi's perspective is more understandable. And even if it was, Caitlyn is a goddamn cop, she chose this life. Let her put herself in danger for you.
      But Jayce had a reality check of is own, beyond the whole "I've killed a kid now". More like, Fuck... have I always been complicit in people dying down here? -In ep 3 she put some distance between them to cool off after hitting Powder. As soon as she saw Silco approach Powder she got up to save her and was drugged by Marcus and sent to prison.
    -In ep 6 she went to reunite with Jinx as soon as she saw the signal. Then the firelights interrupted them and she got knocked out and kidnapped.
    -In ep 7 she was going to go look for Jinx again until Marcus shot at Ekko and was holding Caitlyn at gunpoint. What was Vi supposed to do? Keep walking and let Caitlyn get shot?
    -At the end of the episode Vi left because what else was she supposed to do? She just watched her sister blow up several enforcers to pieces and then Jinx literally tried to kill Caitlyn and almost got Vi killed to. You can see in Vi's eyes that she's also scared of Jinx and what she has done and there was clearly no reasoning with Jinx at this moment.

      Silco could relate to Jinx, they were both betrayed and alone in the world, that's why he was so affectionate about her, because she resembled himself. He loved and cared for her, even if she wasn't actually perfect, kept screwing up, jinxing everything, etc. yet he couldn't blame her, because Jinx is who she is, that's what makes her perfect and only Silco could see the truth, while Jinx was blind and still thought she could be loved for being "different" and she first came to a realization after Silco's death.

She stepped away to cool off then got kidnapped and put in jail before she could go to Powder. In episode 6 when she reunited with Powder she got knocked out and taken by the Firelights. In episode 7, Jinx literally shot at Vi after blowing up an entire fleet of Enforcers (and tried to kill Ekko and Caitlyn with those same bombs). Was she supposed to just let her finish the kill on Caitlyn? So her options on that bridge were A) leave with Caitlyn safely or B) stay and FIGHT her sister to stop her from killing the rest of her intended victims of the bug explosions. If that qualifies as “leaving” (I don’t think it does given the circumstances) then that’s still only 1 time she “left”.

And Ekko said it best that after Vander died everyone in the under city became a victim or an addict after he took over because he was a drug lord. That's a villain but again good writing can make it hard to remember those details. So I get it but yes. Guys... Vi is COMPLETELY right at the start. You started protesting against her immediately, but ultimately, this whole child labor factory, and Lanes flooded with shimmer is a result of neglectance from the council. Kids are dying constantly. Jayce needed this reality check of, what the fuck do you mean "part of this now"? Do you think the council was never responsible for the undercity? Jayce may have kicked out Heimer for a lack of a plan, but he didn't have his own either.
    "She's pushing everyone away" that's assuming she wants to be friends with Jayce. If he can't accept his responsibilities to the entire city then Vi's like I don't even wanna know you.

    • @lockekappa500
      @lockekappa500 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah but I think Jayce understands all of this, but he still thinks Vi's actions are the incorrect way to go about this. Continuing to kick down doors and destroy shimmer factories will just result in the direct deaths of more children. Jayce is simply saying that this is no longer the way he wants to go about this, that he has his own ways. And he did act on those ways, he went for the path of peace, and if it was for Jinx, it probably all would have happened.
      We have to remember, Vi is being mostly selfish in her quest to rid the Undercity of Silco and free Jinx of his grasp. So I don't know if you should be 100% on Vi's side, as she is being very reckless and is unable to accept others help.

    • @mathies3598
      @mathies3598 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@lockekappa500 Jayce's pursuit for peace would've been a good idea if he didn't ask for their leader to give up his daughter. But, at the same time, they don't wanna cut the undercity loose with such a big threat still out there. For me, children dying because they were caught in the crossfire of a battle, or OD'd on Shimmer, or just starved to death, shouldn't make a difference.
      As for trying to get rid of Silco, I don't see how that's a selfish goal. He might have improved the lives of his gang and the chembarons, but the whole of the undercity? Suffering like never before. If child labor in a factory is the safer alternative for your kid to anything else, something's severely wrong with your living space. Silco kinda became a new aristocratic ruler of Zaun. Replaced the council with a new form of neglect and ignorance, created new classes within Zaun itself. But somehow it's selfish for Vi to try to rid her city of him? Bro is a whole new problem of his own.

When Vi is shouting about Vander, Claggor, Milo, and their parents,Silco already knows how fragile Jonx's mental state is. He shouts "Don't listen to her!" because he's likely seen this happen before. He tried to shoot Vi to shut her up, and Jinx reflexively shot him to protect her sister.
    Honestly, I think Silco knew what would happen when he reached for that gun.

    I don’t know, kidnapping a few people and then making your sister think you were about to show her the severed head of her gf as a way of mentally/emotionally torturing her and then asking her to murder said gf in order to get the version of her sister she can handle back… on top of all the delusions and voices and murder… seems pretty far gone to me. I love Jinx but the girl is gone. She’s a victim, for sure, she’s just not the only victim in this scene.
    The narrative plays with the idea of Powder vs Jinx a lot, and while that works well as a narrative tool, people really do take that so literally when that’s not how things like this work. Jinx gives Vi a false choice here. You’ll notice that Powder’s chair is pushed in at the table and surrounded by clutter while Jinx’s chair is out and ready to be sat in at any time. But what Jinx wants is for Vi to enable all her destructive tendencies and encourage her behavior. Let her get away with murder, like she used to, like Silco did in the present. But she can’t do that.
    It doesn’t mean Vi doesn’t love her sister, she just can’t be an enabler anymore. She meant what she said, that they’ll always be sisters, that she’ll always love her.

    Thank you for your reaction! Family dinner is the great dramatic ending! The satisfying end of the season for me is the Jinx deciding who she is. When she sat on that chair with Jinx name like a boss, this is it! She finally accepted who she is and her past is not tearing her personality apart, no more, scars remain, but she let go her past, like Silco try to told her earlier! And by the way Jinx shot Silco because he was aiming at Vi! (When Vi repeat those Names at her for Vi those are good memories, but for Jinx they were haunting ghosts, so Silco was seeing her suffering and want it to stop )
    P.S. There is one scene in last 9th episode which I find very important for season 2, but a lot people overlooked it. When Silco and Jayce was meeting on city walls, Jayce said: "I was reminded recently of what brought us together in the first place The threats beyond our walls". And Silco had answered: "The city has a short memory". Threats beyond OUR walls! Like Noxus Empire, the mommy general Medarda is part of! So I hope, that in Season 2, the both parts of the City, after some struggle, will be forced to cooperate for survival and fight the outsiders to remain independent.

    From the beginning Jinx has always existed in Powder. Unlike Vander, unlike Vi, Silco could see that. But Jinx, was not always the Jinx we had at the end of the series. She was basically a child with superpowers. From her demeanor, to her struggles with following/waiting for instruction, to the way she interacted with her fellow subordinates, you weren't looking at a crazy person you were looking at a troubled child. Silco actually tried to help her with this, in his own way. His story of the water and his symbolic baptism of Powder into Jinx. Before she was a girl who was fractured between who she was and who she would become. For a brief period of time after she was getting better, but then she found out that Silco lied, and he lied a lot.
    Had Vi never returned, Jinx would not have gone back to being the fractured amalgamation of Powder and Jinx. Her fears, her hesitance, her regrets would have been allowed to disappear into the background, she would have had the chance to become stable. But this is all predicated on the fact that at the end of the day, Silco wanted what he believed would be best for Jinx. The biggest moment that solidified what Jinx became was ultimately not at the result of Vi or Silco, it was at the hands of Singed. With Jinx's psyche already being so fragile, the shimmer put into her system to save her exacerbated her mental issues which would result in all of her end of story tendencies, none of which were bestowed to her from Vi during her time as Powder or from Silco during her time as Jinx. All of which stemmed from her.
    This is why during the final scene she gives Vi and Silco the option to choose who she is going to be for the rest of her days. Neither Powder nor Jinx can survive while the other is permitted to exist in the aftermath of her Shimmer treatment. So when she settles on Jinx, finally letting Powder die, all of her experience with Jinx became enhanced and magnified. But since Jinx never got the chance to finish healing before the Shimmer and the only person who accepted Jinx (who might have been her stability) is also now gone, killed by her own hands, Jinx is this crazy, violent, uncontrollable killer.
    All of this is to say, it is a fantastic view of what happens to children when they have no solid foundation for their life. If your parents are fighting, if you're being pulled in all directions, if the lack of stability leads to mental instability, if that instability leads to medication with no additional treatment, what chance do you have as a kid? Vi was a protective older sister trying desperately to protect her sister with no power to do anything to actually help her. Silco was a proud father who charged ahead with what he thought was right but could not give the kind of time and effort that Jinx needed because of his pursuit of his own ambitions. While Shimmer saved her life, it was only ever going to bring to light the broken pieces that can't just be magicked away and fuel them with the same power it gave to the rest of her body. Ultimately, when it comes to Jinx, because nobody would just sit down, stop, and work together for her well being, she never stood a chance. No matter how good their intentions.

In the fight scene where vi almost runs into the blade you see it slicing all over, it goes up and down and then across at the bottom with a small arc making the letter A the way it looks in the title of the show. The way they show throughout the show the eyes, the way silco's eye is and then the eye on jinx and on the shark gun. In the beginning you see powder as a child crying and vi angry, then in the end vi is in tears and jinx is angry. The color of the shimmer and hextech, the nail colors, etc., the way they show the gemstones and cupcakes throughout the show. The way silco always encouraged jinx even when she made mistakes, he would always tell her she is perfect. And in the last part silco grabs the gun and you can see he fires a shot at vi in the chair and it misses and goes through the chair as he is upset at what she is saying to jinx and what that is doing to her, he has a reaction and she has a reaction. She was trying to help in episode 3 and killed people, then she kills silco, seems like that sisterhood is real, she killed again when her sister was in danger. Every single character in this show added something, and I understand jinx the most because I know that feeling of being alone or even being around people and listening to them or hearing what they say about me and the conversations I have with myself to deal with it. I rarely ever cry, this show let me do it and let it out. Finn was right about today's the day day you die silco, he just didn't know how it would unfold, and jinx did return the gemstone in the end.

    The greatest comment I have seen about Arcane, and possibly the greatest comment I have ever seen on TH-cam ever. 'The last act of Powder was killing Silco, the first act of Jinx was to avenge him.' Maybe not verbatim to the original posting, but it is so beautiful and true.

    I know you already reacted to "get jinxed" few years ago. But after watching Arcane it is worth to re watch it. Its so cool how much they keep from her character from that 2013 Music Video. Also the same studio made arcane and get jinxed.

    I know things were going a little fast in the scene but the reason Jinks shot Silco was because he picked up the gun and was about to shoot Vi. She reacted.

    The first thing we see powder doing was sneaking into Piltover plus we saw Vi carrying Caitlyn sneaking straight into Caitlyn's bedroom I think it isn't so farfetched that Jinx was able considering how sneaky she is (hanging in Silco's office unnoticed, sneaking into the last drop to scare chuck and sneaking into and out if Silco's office to interrogate him being examples).

    I'm pretty sure Mel and the entire council will die from the explosion and Viktor is the closest to Jayce and he'll use some kind of Hextech power to save Jayce from dying also and those two will be the only survivors from the blast. Once Mrs. Medarda realizes that her daughter is dead, how she lost both her son and daughter, she will wage a war against nation of Zaun, Jayce will grieve over Mel's death and give in, start making Hextech weapons and help Mrs. Medarda defeat the nation of Zaun and that's how we'll get the war between Piltover and Zaun.

    It doesn't matter how much Silco loves Jinx, he IS A VILLAIN. He has committed murders, and is pushing a drug that is ruining the lives of the people he claims to want to improve. He is very complex, but his complexity doesn't change the fact that he is a villain. Vander was doing his part without creating a drug to make himself rich. He formed an honest relationship with the then Sheriff, and didn't use bribes or scapegoats. That's the difference. Silco is an amazing, complex character, but he is most definitely a villain.

    This last episode you gals said that Jinx was raging & that she accidentally killed Silco. I don't think that is the case. I think she was very aware of what was going on around her even though she was battling the voices in her head. If you noticed, Silco had picked up the pistol that Jinx had put down on the table when Caitlin had her at gun point. He was about to shoot Vi when Jinx shot him. In the choice between her sister & Silco, Vi, her sister came 1st, proving blood is thicker than water. After she realized what she had done, then she ran to him apologizing for shooting him. Yeah, so I don't believe it was accidental at all.

    Finn was right, Silco dies today, just not the way he was expecting.
    I had assumed the champions all had character shields, at least for the first season and certainly before gaining their iconic weapons. Even so the scene at the dinner table scared me as to what Jinx did off screen. They really had me going for a minute. Silco however was the only one at that table who wasn't a champion and I was expecting him to die sooner or later, just not like that.
    I'm not sure how powerful Jinx's R would be in Arcane, but I don't think she will kill Jacyee or Viktor. Maybe one or two of the other guys will survive. However things aren't looking good for Mel.

  • @trashlord3311

    I know that Silco is a relatable, complex, well-written character, but he is still a villain. He seems so real because he reflects how a real person would be "evil". Every single person that does something bad, even the most horrible actions you could possibly think of, have a justification as to why they did those actions. Silco reminds me of real revolutionaries that fund their movements with drug money and control their zones with military force. Fighting for the idea of independence while not caring what damage they do to the actual people they say they fight for.
    Ultimately Silco was willing to sacrifice everyone until it came to his daughter. This complexity is what makes him a likable character, but nothing erases the years of damage he did to the undercity. Just because someone is likable (real of fiction), it doesn't excuse their actions.

    • @Tubejin
      @Tubejin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There are rarely truly evil people. Almost everyone thinks they are right and just. Silco is much more realistic than most antagonists. It's an interesting debate is he a villain or an antagonist. What does it mean to be a villain. He really walks this line and it makes everything gray. Vander betrayed him and tried to kill him, is Silco really to blame for how things turned out? It's such good writing.

  • @contggs
    @contggs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It was not an accident that she shot Silco, if you review the scene in slow motion you can see that Silco shot Vi, you can tell there are bullet holes in Vi's chair when she go off the chair, so instinct from Jynx caused her to shoot Silco to save her sister. The amazing thing about this show is that several times he puts these quick scenes to make us review it again, like at the end of episode 8 I didn't realize Jynx was in the bathroom, and I reviewed it after reading the comments. When Jynx lifts the lid it quickly shows Caitlyn's face and then the cupcake and many other scenes have quick flashbacks. I really liked your reaction, I can't wait for the second session.

    Silco took the handgun on the table and shit at Vi, that's why she shot him. If you watch again, you see the shit go high and through Vi's chair. Powder instinctively protected her. It may have been the last thing Powder ever did.
    All hail Jinx.

  • @Arclite02
    @Arclite02 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    She didn't kill Silco by accident. Silco was aiming at Vi. Killing him was Powder's final, desperate stand to protect her sister.
    Avenging him? That's all Jinx. And she started with Powder.
    Also, as for the Council? Jayce and Viktor are guaranteed to live, they're actual League Champions. Everyone else in the room? Caitlyn's Mother? That's a whole other question.

    We always sympathize with broken people, it’s easy because we’re all broken in some way, but there are lines and once crossed you just can’t walk it back any more. Jinx crossed all those lines, she’s a monster now, she can’t walk it back. Her trauma can no longer excuse her actions. She started a war of aggression, all the death that rocket will cause is on her, lives lost, families torn apart, it’s all on her, the ripples of death and retaliation that cause, she did that, no one else. Her path is set, I can pity her but I can no longer sympathize with her, she is the villain and she deserves to be placed in Stillwater for the rest of her life, she must pay for her crimes.
