LET'S TALK | HE SAID HE CAN'T BE WITH ME IF WE DON'T HAVE SEX

  • Hey Sweethearts!!
    So I got this dilemma on snapchat and thought it would be the perfect time to make a video on celibacy! Remember, you don't have to change yourself for anybody, especially when the person you're trying to be is better that the person others are trying to limit you to.

    Girls listen: If a guy can't love you without sex, then he can't love you with sex.
    He doesn't deserve you if he can't respect your wishes.

    At 15 the boys in my school are out here "banging" anyone, and I'm the "frigid" girl for wanting to wait. Doesn't bother me tho, how can sex be a priority for 90% of the school but we haven't even sat our GCSE'S yet? That's not for me at all.
    Great video btw 💖

    I'm in my late teens now and when I tell people I'm waiting until marriage everyone always says "Guys won't wait for you, you won't be able to have a long term relationship without having sex" and it's really disheartening. It makes me wonder if I'll ever find someone with the same values and mindset as me.

    • @daraaidowu3797

      JellyBear Babes im 21 and I've been in a relationship with a guy for 3 + years now and we have kept our commitment of waiting. Of course we have had some near missing which we tried put ourselves in situations where temptation was in abundance but we help one another and also seeked encouragement from other people (accountability partners etc). There are so many guys out here willing to have a relationship that will honour your body and glorify God. I know too many around me who are doing just that. It is possible, don't lose heart, keep growing you and (if you are Christian or religious etc) learn what it means to love and 'practice' with everyone around you so when someone does come who is willing to wait, you'll be more than able to love them the way they deserve. Don't loss heart hunn, you have timeeee.

      Everyone's trying to navigate the waters, I think if you seek like-minded individuals in friendships etc (both male and female) it'll be a lot easy to find 'the one' you're looking for. That mentality that 'it's difficult' can sometimes make you either close your eyes to a potential person or make you fall too hard for someone who seems like what you want but is actually just tryna play you. It all just takes discernment and not making having a relationship a priority right? At least that's what I've observed. It doesn't hurt to be positive just don't be gullible.

    • @CourtneyDaniella
      @CourtneyDaniella  8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I totally understand that. I think this idea that guys are always wanting have sex is very problematic in itself. You should try and find like minded people and trust me they are out there. Also, some may choose to be celibate later on in their life. But girl stay true to yourself and do it for you!

    Really appreciate this video. I was in a relationship at 16 where the guy use to cheat on me and sleep around being so immature I thought the best way to "keep him from doing it" was to engage in sexual activities with him. We had sex and he continued to treat me the same way. It was very hard for me to deal with because even a simple kiss is something sacred to me. I lost myself for a couple of years being reckless because I didn't care about myself. I'm now 19 and a year ago I made a conscious decision to become a born again virgin and to become celibate. Honestly been the best decision I've ever made. It's never too late ladies! 💜

    This video was really inspirational. I love listening to your voice , so thank you xxx. Coming from experience I have defiantly opened my eyes to what is out there and what expectations to have of myself. I personally aren't 100% celibate and 100% sex before marriage but I do want to make sure that I find the right person before I rush into anything again, which I can honestly say to girls and boys aren't really waiting for marriage. Just take your time and get to know a person before decide to jump into bed with them and if you and your partner decide to wait for marriage then that's a good thing also. They girl could even try to convince her boyfriend to do the same. Since being in a relationship takes two , everything you do should be with your bf/gf included.

    There's nothing wrong with wanting to have sex in a relationship as I do believe it can bring a healthy and loving couple closer together but if you know sex is important to you, don't waste time with someone who doesn't feel the same way. Less feelings are hurt when everyone is on the same page.

    This was super interesting to hear, and I really admire you for speaking out about your views on celibacy, it's quite unusual nowadays with (as you said) hypersexualisation of everything. Being asexual, I can kind of see where you're coming from. However, I also think that it can be unhealthy and maybe emotionally harmful for people to feel they have to have clean thoughts. I've struggled with OCD pretty badly in the past, especially around having to have clean thoughts. It seems perfect on the surface but the ugly side of it is constant internal torment. I lost my virginity incredibly young and I felt unclean and outcast for years, so I hid it, not because I was underage or unmarried but because it would be totally socially unacceptable. It didn't help me to be seen in that way. If I were to be described as unclean or fallen because of it, it wouldn't get me anywhere, it would only bring back the feeling of being damaged goods. But also I'm in a great relationship now and I have no interest in sex, so I can totally agree that it's easy enough to have a perfectly happy relationship without sex.

    • @maureenmn288
      @maureenmn288 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hannah Akers omg i agree with what you said, if its not to personal ? can i ask how you met your partner ? your relationship seems interesting to me because i wonder how it works (is your partner asexual too ?) because these days,finding a relationship where both parties are on the same page about not having sex seems rare.
      ps: english is not my native language, so please excuse my mistakes.

    • @hannahakers3551
      @hannahakers3551 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maureen Njanga No I don't mind at all! It's fairly cliché, actually, my best friend and I bonded over our asexuality (they are also asexual) and ended up falling in love. We had been friends for 16 years and our parents were good friends too so we were both quite lucky in that respect. I think with people who are not necessarily on the same page, communication is the most important thing. As long as everyone involved in the relationship knows exactly where the borders are for the other person/people, it can work really well. I hope this helped? ps. Your English is perfect. I wish I could learn languages as fluently as you :)

    this was so interesting to watch from an atheist perspective as someone whos very interested in religion but doesnt really believe in it. i think that decribing young people who have lost their virginity before marriage as impure and in some way damaged and less attractive as a bride can be an extremely damaging view and can make so many people feel less valued and worthless when in reality sex is one of the most natural acts humans do and also many people never actually find the right person and get married so does that mean that they shouldnt experience such an amazing an intimate act? just a thought. love your videos xx

    sex in a serious relationship is important to me. i celebrate my sexuality, (which doesnt mean i sleep around) and to have that kind of connection with someone is something i cherish. yes this generation is growing up in a very sexually liberal environment, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. why is talking about and celebrating sex not a good thing? why give people unrealistic expectations of waiting for that one person, as if exploring and growing in that aspect of themselves (outside of a traditional marriage structure) is some taboo? I don't hold the Christian view of sex per say, because there are a lot of things about Christianity and the bible that i can't come to terms with. So i find it very hard to believe that engaging in a very natural activity is going to get me condemned to an eternal oven. I think exploring and getting to know yourself and know what you like allows us to develop stronger, more mature, less naive relationships with people in the future

    • @daraaidowu3797
      @daraaidowu3797 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      cookie krisp Hay hunn I think it's more so the fact that in the Christian view sex actually is a good thing, in fact it's cherished and seen as precious. So much so that we are encouraged to explore it in its fullness in the context of marriage. If sex was a taboo then Songs of song wouldn't be in the Bible and God would not have repeated 'be fruitful and multiple', outside of procreation, fruitful also means growing, learning, loving and enjoying to the max.
      I think people are quick (not you but generically speaking) to brush over how fragile human beings are, even if you are having sex absent-mindedly, it doesn't stop your partner hurting from issues stemming from it. Our human nature makes it so easy to manipulate and pervert sex; you are more open to abuse and mind games, because people want to prove that you can detach sexual activity from emotion. But in the context of marriage you can learn, grow and enjoy one another in a safe and vulnerable place.
      TBH Even after marriage, there are cases where people still can abuse the gift of intimacy by holding leverage over one another or even going as far as to forcefully engage in sex. However in marriage there's more accountability (at least in Christian marriages), there's often someone you can and should confide in if something isnt right. But outside of that, you're responsible for you (or at least that's how society/media makes it seem from my own experience), you're open to anything. I think it's simply safeguarding, a lot of things we're admonished to do in the Bible, more often than not is for our own benefit, you can be accountable for your own thoughts & actions but you have no idea what could be going on in the mind of another person. And besides I've found that most times engaging in physical intimacy with someone you really truly care about, may cloud your judgement. Things that should be discussed may not be resolved because you mask it with affection. Also, giving yourself to someone at times hinders people from leaving toxic relationships. If not for any other reason it's good practise to learn to explore the depths of a person and stimulate their mind and senses without having to actually touch them. Sexual desire is such an incredibly overwhelming and powerful thing, and it's something I'd personally treasure and only release in an environment I believe is safe for me. Thank you for sharing your view, there were a few things I hadn't thought of in the way you explained. Have a lovely day xx

    • @ekraku141
      @ekraku141 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      again, myself and many other people don't share the Christian view of sex. So while i do appreciate your opinion, its not really relevant in the context of what I am arguing. You are absolutely correct from a christian perspective, and even generally because i think you should get to know someone outside of intimacy. But for me, if we're in a SERIOUS relationship, i expect sex. and i don't bash anyone who doesn't want to have it, but those are my expectations of the relationship and i think it is fair to say that. it doesn't make me less deep or more of a degenerate. besides, marriage is not the be all and end all. i believe that marriage as a christian insititution can actually be quite toxic, but thats a discussion for another time and place. thanks for your opinion, but i feel like a discussion on this would be far more useful if it was from outside a religious perspective

    • @daraaidowu3797
      @daraaidowu3797 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's perfectly fine, and I don't believe you are any less deep or a degenerate. I'm only relating back to the video, which is describing a situation when someone expects sex but the other person is unsure. The best thing for that person is not to be in a relationship where you're not on the same page with your partner, it's draining and not even safe (even viewing it from outside a religious perspective), if you both consent then it's a clear choice you've made together and it's established in the relationship. But in this case, the girl seems reluctant to go ahead, hence the question. And of course marriage isn't the be all and end all, it's not by force to marry in my opinion. And yeah I think a lot of things can be considered toxic, people (whether religious or not tbh) are notorious for killing the goodness in alot of things. My personal belief is that when I see people through God's lense of them, I long to truly love them, or at least do my best to. But yeah thank you again! 😊

    I've always been picked on and called "holier than thou" just because I choose to wait for marriage to give up my nookies and I'm picky when it comes to a guy I want to be with. Despite that I know that I am doing the right thing, not for just what I believe and for God, but mostly MYSELF. Because I know if I don't have value for myself, then my partner won't see a reason to respect and value me either. Don't let anyone pressure you. But you also can't marry someone without having a sexual relationship, that's just immature and stupid. No intercourse? Sure. No NOTHING? Ridiculous.
