    • @derekpearce4987
      @derekpearce4987 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Italy was on Germany & Japan's side-- Italy became fascist under the actual Fascist Party dictatorship of Mussolini 9 years before Hitler even came to power. They "weren't as bad" as them, ie were resistant to the Nazi's Holocaust plans but still were pretty evil. That's the super-Reader's digest summation. They still tried to conquer Greece, the Balkans and North Africa and participated in bombing Britain.

      I think girls are far more vilified for it. The way young female stars were treated in the early 2000s is atrocious and disgusting. It was normal for the media to sexualize teen girls. (Still is, but not as bad. . Though a lot of creepy old dudes still make hyper sexual shows about kids in high school instead about women their own age which they could easily do with the same subject matter.

    I wish that Intermissions would be a thing for super long movies. I don’t mind if a movie is 3hrs long but my problem is always having to go to the bathroom (even though I go before the movie) and having to find the right moment so I don’t miss anything. If we had intermissions for longer movies, that would help a lot.

    • @em.5941
      @em.5941 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      i feel like that would take many people out of the movie. The whole point is to be invested into a story and a loud ass break popping up would be annoying.

    • @kevinbarnard355
      @kevinbarnard355 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Intermissions used to be a standard part of longer movies. It was a concession break for the theaters, and a bathroom break for audiences. Nolan threw a fit when some theaters planned to have an intermission during Oppenheimer.

    • @jeffsanders3453
      @jeffsanders3453 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do it in theater all the time. You end Act I will an eventful moment and it gets the audience excited and intrigued about what happens next. Also similar to a TV show where they end an episode on a cliffhanger or something similar where you are dying to watch the next episode. A good director would know how to find the moment to end high, let the audience take a breather, then bring them back in. I just hate having to run out of the theater to pee in long movies and worrying I'm going to miss something important @@em.5941

    • @jeffsanders3453
      @jeffsanders3453 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@kevinbarnard355 I remember reading about that. I get the director would worry about what part of the movie an outside force is deciding to "split" the movie up and messing up the scheduled rhythm of the movie. It just would be nice for a director to bring the idea back and try it out on a movie to see how it was responded to. So many directors of film have done theater and tv so they know how to play the audience in that regard.

    I have always said that Cameron’s Avatar is basically FernGully meets Titanic.
    1- Environmental/tribal adventure meets a huge disaster epic.
    2- Female lead smokes cigarettes and suddenly quits halfway through the movie. (Tobacco investors) (Aliens, Titanic, Terminator and Avatar)
    3- Male lead runs excitedly through his big introduction scene. (T2, Titanic, Avatar)
    4- Cross-cultural romance with sweeping “flying” scene. (Titanic, Avatar)
    5- Climactic scene of total destruction. (Titanic, Aliens,T2, Avatar)
    6- Three hours… The End.

I guess it was less 'out there' than seeing tabloid photos of a pantless drunk star stumbling out of a car but he definitely qualifies in 'he had a rough patch but came out on top'. How about 2 episodes, no, no??? Humm...What about every episode your DVR has recorded so far??? Ding, ding, ding yup I think that was the right answer. Ahaha🤣🤣🤣. If it was more than 3 hours then why was the Avatar 2 movie too long??? If you say you have never binged watch "ANY" TV show before. I don't think you are being real. You're just saying, you've never have just to prove Avatar 2 was too long. Which is total BS.
      Ummmm...You know, you can go take a restroom 🚻 break when you have too. It's not like you are permanently ⛓️ chained to your seat the whole time, or you will possibly get electrocuted if you get up. You're not going to get in trouble for leaving your seat, and I know you didn't sign a contract stating that you will never leave your seat till the end of the movie. Even watching a regular movie time movie I still have to sometimes get up to use the restroom 🚻. But I'm not going to destroy my bladder over a movie. That would be absolutely stupid to do. And really, it's not like it's never going to be on Blu-ray soon enough. So no matter what you "can" still watch the 3 minutes you didn't see at the theater at home.

    James Cameron did something to me that I don’t think anyone else has pulled off.
    The first Terminator movie was such an amazing B-movie that managed to push through into the mainstream and became successful. Tight pace, gripping storytelling, and full of iconic moments.
    The second one even surpassed the original and pushed even further what a summer blockbuster can be.
    He peaked with Titanic.

      @Corbomite_Meatballs 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's something that people have been pointing out for a while...once you cross $ amount in budgets for a movie/TV show, the creativity & storytelling seems to diminish inversely - the more a movie costs, the quality of the story drops/sfx are expected to carry the story, etc.
      Not necessarily true for every movie/tv show, but your comparison of his movies is a fair example.

I still can't believe they made a movie about one of the dudes we've already made like thirty fucking movies about... I'll never watch it. I'm a WW2 or any war buff and into history in general. Watching a movie about Oppenheimer... I'd learn zero and just fall asleep. Like Churchill... Sorry Gary. Making stuff up doesn't help "history biopics"...
      I've never seen one "history" movie that didn't do a disservice to actual education. Especially Americans... Dramatic addition doesn't belong in history...seeing their excuses and claims of "knowing" the characters well getting most of it wrong... Stomach churning for us history buffs...

    Ok I’m gonna defend Avatar here cause I actually love it 😂 At least the first one. Sure, the story isn’t super unique but it’s a classic. The actors are great, the visuals and music are amazing. Now the second one is admittedly kinda boring. But the cinema experience was still amazing because the world is just beautiful, especially with the new 3D technique. And please Nick show me your computer game that has literal 3D dust in the water in it 😅 That popular meme is so true they should just let James Cameron make that fantasy documentary of his dreams and not force him to write plots anymore lol.

      BTW, 100% agree that James Cameron must be stopped! Any director who can't do a full/tantalizing (give us something to wet our whistles and let us do more investigating on our own) exploration of the subject/script in less than 2.5 hours, do a mini-series.

    Melissa actually couldn't really club. Because she was on contract with Archie Comics. So yes she was sneaky but when they got a whiff of her at parties she'd get docked pay. It was a whole big thing because Archie at the time wanted to be family orientated. I would be pissed if I was melissa when Riverdale came out. Since those actors actually could have a life.

    The first Avatar is Disney's Pocahontas with blue aliens, prove me wrong.
    Also, Zoe Saldana is a goddess and wasn't recognizing in this episode, and i am upset lol
    8:21 let us not also forget China Ann McClain. Homegirl had her own show on Disney after several cameos, starred in (imo) one of the BEST Disney Channel movie trilogies every created and has an amazing tiktok following today. She's a bit of a Bible thumper, but she not like an asshole about it.

    In defense of Oppenheimer, my family planned to watch it and give ourselves an intermission halfway through because we didn't think we could handle 3hr20min, but it was so enthralling that we forgot and watched the whole thing in one sitting. The material was enough for two movies, but it had a very Nolan style (i.e. bizarre and disjointed) timeline, so it would be very hard to separate it out into a film and sequel or cut a lot of it. Maybe plan to watch it in two parts over two days? I am a person who can binge watch shows for hours, so long films aren't a problem for me, but even my family that can't do that still watched the whole film at once.
