    Tyson in his prime was the most fearsome fighter I've seen. Always black shorts no socks all business. His walk on against the previously unbeaten Michael Spinks with no fancy gowns and barely audible music oozed menace and showed he was only interested in ripping Spinks's head off. Spinks was turned to jelly in 91 seconds. Pure unadulerated ferocity.

    Mike Tyson suffered from a serious lunge disease, when he was a very young kid. Tyson always struggled with his stamina after that, because the illness had affected his lung tissue in a very bad manner. His legendary trainer Cus D´Amato took this fact into account, when he trained Mike Tyson to mimic those leighter and faster boxers in the lower weight divisions. "Speed kills" was the training motto for Mike Tyson and we all saw the impressive effects of that boxing philosophy throughout Tyson´s career. If Mike´s opponent could survive round 1, 2 and 3, then Mike would be in serious trouble.
    P.S. Mike Tyson is the world´s best boxer EVER in history, so this comment is not meant to hateful towards Mike.

    Razor Ruddock was cognitively fine after this fight. They probably just downplaying the fact he went and fought Lennox Lewis next for an eliminator to fight the then champion Riddock Bowe and Lewis knocked him out in 2 rounds in devastating fashion. Later Bowe relinquished the wbc belt to Lewis throwing it in a binbag rather than face him.

    In his early days, Mike Tyson not only had the best punch in the business, he was also an expert technical fighter. His evasive defense resembled nobody so much as Joe Frazier, with his upper body bobbing and weaving like it was mounted on a ball socket. But as time went on, he came to the conclusion that all he needed was punching power, so he got lazy.

    Its really hard to compare era's esp if you weren't there or around during that era, to me Fraser and Ali 1 & 2 are still 2 of the best fights I have ever seen and brutal, Foreman Ali, but then you can go back to Dempsey, Jack Johnson, Joe Lewis and Rocky Marciano (Undefeated) everyone has there time, each era has its own set of challenges, but in terms or raw brutal boxing and skill 70s back imo is unmatched. Tyson career got derailed in his head not physically, which is where many are defeated!
    Its why Id put Ali ahead of Tyson any day and some of the others above, during adversity they either came back or overcame incredible odds! for Tyson after Cus died I feel even though he won the title after he died, he lost that true support and trust person, his got taken by his wife, imo, vampires surrounded him! def a great fighter but imo the 70s for pure talent and legends cant be beat as a era, one thing I do respect Mike for was he gave Larry Holmes back what Holmes did to Ali, when Ali should not have stepped back into the ring. But again its an era that even as a little kid I was in awe of and it grew over time where as other post eras for me have diminished and a sad part for the sport.
    Watch the Fight of the Century Fraser Ali 1, Fraser Ali 2 but Fraser Ali 3 Thriller in Manilla, where Ali wanted to quit and his trainer refused, Frasers trainer did throw in the towel, Ali said it was the closest he ever felt to dying!
    Personally fan of both, love to see your thoughts on any of the heavy weight division fights of the early 70s to mid to late 70s.🤘

    I think it would be very hard to find an era of boxing better than the late 80s through the 90s. You had Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe, and even older guys still around like Larry Holmes and George Foreman. The only era that even comes close has to be the late 60s through the 70s with Ali, Frazier, Norton, Foreman, and that group of guys. I still think Tysons era was the toughest. There were a lot of guys in that time frame who woulda been champ and dominated other eras. The overall quality of the fighters in that era may never be matched. Let's be real...the quality hasn't been there in boxing for a long time now. What passes for a big fight today is just embarrassing. A TH-camr fighting retired MMA guys?... Seriously? Now he's fighting Tyson at 58, who was walking with a cane not long ago. Jake Paul may be a pretty good fighter if you put him in the ring with guys who, let's just say, aren't in their prime. In the 90s, Jake Paul wouldn't have been on the undercard of a Tuesday night fight on ESPN. Butterbean would have beat Jake Paul's ass.

    He should have been banned from boxing after biting off part of an ear and stripped of any title and received no money from that fight.

    Tyson might be the most overrated athlete in the history of sports. His power, especially in that left hook, was scary. There is no denying his greatness in that regard. But, he won most of his fights before the bell ever rang. Guys were terrified of him & fought to survive more so than to win. Even though Douglass beat him first, Holyfield laid the blueprint for beating Tyson. Keep your head & counter. Tyson often left him exposed. On wild swings & misses he would be off balance & left his chin on a tee. And although he had a great chin, he was KO’d several times. He was also susceptible to taller fighters with a reach advantage. They could keep him at bay with the jab & create separation, making it tough for Tyson to land. Now I’m not saying Tyson wasn’t great. He was. But, he wasn’t the best ever or even top 10 all time, like a lot of ppl claim. He’d probably fall in the top 15-20 HWs all-time which is still amazing. But, he’s nowhere near the best. That’s Ali & it ain’t even close.

      Tyson is top 5 easily, Prime tyson is the best hw boxer all time

      @ukkingrex 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Ehrle6969 He’s not close to top 5. Ali, Joe Louis, Foreman, Frazier, Marciano, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, Vitali Klitschko, Holyfield, Ken Norton, Liston, Dempsey, Patterson, Walcott. Hell, even Tyson Fury would rank higher. Tyson was all gimmick. All-time fighters don’t get KO’d in their prime by Buster Douglass & damn sure don’t get destroyed by bums like Tyson did throughout the back end of his career. Top 5 HW power? Absolutely. But there are tons who outclassed him technically. Holyfield made him look like a fool TWICE. Every name I listed would embarrass Tyson & a cpl of them actually did. I like Tyson. But he’s massively overrated.

      @@ukkingrexStop saying nonsense. Are you serious? Tyson Fury? He himself admitted that Mike would maul him in his prime. Prime Mike Tyson is a top-5 boxer easily

      @SomGoku-ni1hk No, he isn’t. Go check out rankings of legit boxing historians & you’ll see that it’s nearly a consensus that he’s not even top 15. I watched every Tyson fight live & have seen several of them multiple times. And same goes for every fighter I listed. Tyson was the most feared boxer (by other boxers) I’ve ever seen. And he’s easily top 5 all-time in the power category. Who on my list are you moving out of the top 5 to put Tyson in? Every one of them would humiliate Tyson. Did you not see Holyfield embarrass him twice? Second fight was so bad that he had to resort to ear biting bc he was so frustrated from the ass kicking he was dealt. And that’s not the only time he got frustrated & quit or found a way out. I’m not saying he wasn’t a very good boxer. He was. But not in the same universe as the true top 10-15. His reputation is similar to Paul Bunyan. Ppl who never saw him fight love to call him the best ever bc they’ve heard of him & his devastating power. It’s all smoke & mirrors. And I gave reasons backing up my opinion. Tall, long fighters give him fits & he didn’t do well against them. And smart fighters who aren’t scared of him & come in with a game plan fared very well against him. Like Holyfield. He was constantly off balance leaving himself open to big counters. And again, look at the list of bums who destroyed him on the back half of his career. I don’t dislike Tyson but it’s an insult to use his name in the same sentence as guys like Ali, Louis, Foreman, Frazier, Lewis, etc. Tyson’s greatness is inflated big time & has become almost mythical. It’s ridiculous.

      @@ukkingrex You are wrong. All these boxers admitted that Tyson will beat them. Even the great Mohammed Ali admitted that while yeah it will be difficult if Tyson landed a punch on him he would be knocked out immediately. Go watch again the second match with Holyfield. Tyson was winning until Holyfield started to use headbutts and Tyson got angry and he bite him and yeah he got dusqualified. BUT he was winning. And all the other losses that he had he wasnt in his prime. Now as for Marciano Norton etc etc etc that you listed this must be a joke. These fighters were not as good as you think they were

    Tyson was overrated in my view as a Boxing fan for 40 years he fought in a heavy weight division full of duds until Holyfield and Lewis arrived the worst thing about Tyson is he couldn't adapt to losing , Louis , Marciano , Ali , Holmes were just plain better as Heavyweights.
