I’m one of your AT grandmas and every time you get down my heartbreaks. I’m proud of you ,all the miles! Good to see the smile , Chipotle, Vanilla Coke and a cozy place to reset! 😊
Justin -- on your bear bag -- get a carabiner. It will attach to that red loop on the bag. Use the carabiner to hang the bag, rather than running your line through the closure clip. :-) That should work much better I think!

I know with every trip whether it is on foot or by car or whatever there are many ups and downs so remember there are those of us following you, wishing you the best. Even if we can’t be there in person with you. By the way I loathe the graffiti also. Such a sacrilege to see them in such beautiful nature and as for the food bags in the shelter WTH. So glad to see the outpouring of help you got at the end of this video.
I remember watching your first videos when you were getting on trail and how excited you were to meet new people and make new friends. It's difficult when what we thought was going to happen ends up being so far from the truth of the matter. Looks like PA hasn't treated you well from all the rocks, the fricking food bags in the shelter, not getting your packages, equipment failures, & more. But somehow you're still doing it, you're still going, and even though we can't be on trail with you, we're all here watching your journey and cheering you on from the sidelines!
I love Jay Wanders out!!! He’s the other hiker I follow this year. Maybe he can give you a pep talk and spark some motivation. I’m really pulling for you, I want to see you summit Katahdin so badly. You’re doing so good, keep pushin’! ✌🏻💕
Great vlog again as usual Justin! A lot of people that have the Wanderlust. Like myself I've moved around a whole lot in my lifetime. Anyway one way to do it. Become a nomad .Get a van or something bigger an ambulance short school bus etc. And make that into your beautiful home that you take with you. That way you can travel everywhere you want to go. You can have the beach as your backyard wake up to sunrises, go to sleep by sunset. The possibilities are endless! Just got to figure out how to make money on the road! As always safe and happy travels😘 p.s. I went to cosmetology School decades ago. We were taught the only way you can get an ingrown toenail is from clipping your toenail incorrectly. And then when it starts to grow out it doesn't grow out right and gets ingrown. Which causes the pain to start😞😘 oh sorry you haven't found the people to share this experience with that really sucks. You know somebody who wants to do the same miles you want to do etc. And like you said when you're getting down and discouraged and vice versa. Probably doesn't help much but we're all here cheering for you Justin!😘

I never held a job longer than 2 years until I was 37 years old. I went back to graduate school at 50 and even now (25 years later) have 2 part-time jobs and volunteer with an environmental group. Totally get your need to be in control of your life and not at the beck and call of a traditional job. Good luck in finding a way to make that happen. It can be done even though many people don't necessarily understand. The treck you are on will help.

Also, maybe it would help to just let your thru-hike be what it turns into with all of its challenges, Joys, and lessons, instead of trying to make it into what you imagined it would be. Maybe that could help you find that freedom you talked about wanting to find. I wish I could thru hike with you and we could encourage each other when it got hard. I have loved watching you all the way from Amicalola.

Thank you for your commentary about the food bags. Not only does it put hikers in danger to hang a food bag in the shelter, but it puts bears in danger. Eventually a bear will come into the shelter with a food bag because a bear is supposed to follow its nose to find food to survive in its natural habitat. When ignorant humans teach bears to associate shelters with food the bear will become a "problem bear" and have to be put down. If people are going to hike in nature it's their responsibility to respect and protect the wildlife all around them. I agree it shows extreme entitlement to not care about an animal's life just because you're a human and you think you own the whole damn world. There is a strong parallel there was how White supremacy works. Also I love it when you broadcast from the privy, so hiker trashy and always cracks me up

Long trips are exhausting. Don’t look for challenges from outside or other people, events. You exist for your own pleasure. On the slopes of Mount Everest, I learned a lot about myself. Cold, hungry, nightmares, fear of avalanches ... I learned to appreciate very small things in life. Just walk ahead and don't think too much. The next challenge will come to you once you figure this out. You are a great guy and you need to do something valuable. Greetings from northern Europe.
When you talked about the food bags in the shelter, all I could think of was "Get Out" -- how the white people in horror films don't have the sense to leave when they're being stalked LOL. You did the right thing for sure. No way would I sleep in a shelter full of food LOL!

I totally agree, that’s how I hang my food bag, I keep my line tied to it and in my rock bag, organized and ready for use!
Oh yes, I have a carabiner for that purpose. The issue mainly comes in when I have to rely on those bear poles at some shelters.

You should look into seasonal jobs! It’s flexible & can look completely different depending on the person. Very van/rv friendly.
