I think the reason we don't have Gallon milk or juice (you won't find them in Europe either) is that our brands are more regulated than the USA are.. So basically our Juice and Milk will go bad after 1week or 2weeks max as it has no to little preservatives but I think maybe USA have much more preservatives in them to last longer but that most likely won't pass Europeen/moroccan regulations. Food in Europe and Morocco will be healtier than in the USA, that also why cerial are less sugary or chocolaty than in the USA: Less additives
An opened gallon of milk can last 7-10 days in the U.S., but unopened milk can last several weeks if it was pasteurized at ultra-high heat. So it is a specific, ultra-high heat pasteurization process and not preservatives that extend milk shelf life in the U S. -- which is different from normal pasteurization.
As you said, in Europe we don't have such big packages too :) If you want more milk/juice/whatever, you just buy more cartoons. I think that smaller cubic sizes are easier to storage... also I think that we have smaller fridges, kitchen units too than in America so maybe it's another reason 🤔
Erin, you know what you can do, use one of these ideas to startup a business in Morocco like the Iced Coffee, the other day I was watching TH-cam about a lady who started a business on scented candles and she became a millionaire from her business, or start something small and them who knows you may be starting a new trend in Morocco
You can go to hanout and ask for butter per weight for example 100gram of butter Also we sont have a milk in big bottles I believe because most of them last dor 3 days max. And alqo because everything is next to you ,it will take less than 4min to go to the hanout unlike the US you usually need to drive to a supermarket
Oat (and corn) was mostly used as animal feed, because of YT trends now you can find it in markets. No galons, is because portion sizes are way smaller in Morroco, 1 liter can get you 5 cups and it’s safer to have smaller packs to avoid potential contamination over time. You can see what´s shelf milk is actually pasteurized milk, people see it as a safer option and usually buy a 12 or 24 pack for big families or Ramadan. No many flavors, flavors are mostly dangerous chemicals. Food regulations in the US is very loose. Morroco follow euro norms. The use of growth hormones and several chemical additives are usually banned. Fake flavor as Marshmallow, Bubblegum and bleu/green/ fluorescent flavors are hard to find radioactive 🧪 ☢️
The shelf life of refrigirated Milk here in America is a lot longer than in Morocco, sometimes up to 2 weeks depending on fat content, whereas in Morocco, it usually is 2 to 3 days. Another thing, people in Morocco don't consume Milk as much as Americans do. So it doesn't really make sense to buy a whole gallon.
In the USA, they use the Imperial system for measurements , this includes units like inches, feet, yards, and miles for distance . Morocco uses the Metric system, which is the standard in most countries around the world. In the Metric system, measurements are in meters, kilometers, grams, and kilograms . So to help you get your measurment right heres a tip the US uses ounces (1 ounce ≈ 28.35 grams), while Morocco uses grams. 1 ounce is about 28 grams. One tablespoon is approximately 14.79 grams ... for all butters in supermarkets the weight is marked somewhere in small letters generalythe small ones are 250 grams is about 16.9 tablespoons . have a nice one
There's this brand of butter with measurements marked on the cover I can't remember which one tbh but it was a pretty popular brand and the packaging was paper Also you can buy pretty much anything in bulk/big sizes in ATAKADAO it's cheaper if you have it in your area
Many good words. On the small package milk and juice, once the gallon package is opened the due time is started. If forgotten and not consumed, would be a big waste, instead of small package product. On the butter, you could buy a scale to get the correct weight. These scales come with imperial and metric unit’s. Maybe You can get these at Marjan.
There is a coffee franchise in Morocco big in the North and got one in Temara, it's called Dahab Café. They have all kinds of coffees including Iced and they sell ground coffee also

You made me laugh about glasses of soft drinks or juices on the rocks or iced coffee and iced tea not being popular in Morocco.🇲🇦 😂 So true! My American co-workers don’t get it when they see me drinking piping hot tea in the muggy summer day instead of an icy drink. I never liked iced tea or iced coffee and I never put ice on my juice or water. My US born kids are not fans of tea and looooooove iced coffee. 😊 I really enjoy and Like your videos! 🎉 👍
Really interesting to listen your point of view 👍 in France we don't have gallons of hlib. Either lined paper (we have but not "standardly"), We eat tons of cereals... . Enjoy it's plaisant to see this
You can get Cheddar and Monterey cheeses at artisanal cheese shops. There are a few in Rabat. They are more expensive, though. Lines notebooks can be usually be found in FNAC, VIRGIN, or in small bookstores. Atacadao (which is kinda like Costco) sells stuff in bulk. Not sure if they sell gallons of milk but it might be worth the trip. You really don't have to get a sheep if you don't want to... There are PLENTY of Moroccans/Muslims who choose not to sacrifice sheep for Eid. This said, I appreciate the fact that you're going to donate the meat.

We have a different measurement system in morocco like most of the world. Gallons, cups, tbsp and teaspoons are an American thing and maybe canada and Australia (im not sure). Just use a kitchen measuring scale, they have them at ikea and im sure you can find them at other stores. Also for US recipes, just use a converter online. My recipes always come out great even when i use the measuring converter.
Erin... as for regular line note books are available in Carrefour supermarket and downtown. I live in Oujda and they're always available downtown. you also can download them pdf format and print them thus you create your own one
You can buy it for better prices at the growers co ops in areas where they process Argan. Look for goats in the trees when the nutsfruit is on. So funny! @momof4vlogs
I think I skipped a line, lol😂 . Argan is wonderful for the skin and comes from Morocco. It is one of my favorite raw ingredients to formulate with. I am a cosmetic chemist and teach classes on tours to Morocco. I am missing it already and spent almost a month there in May. Loving your Vlog. I return in September for a family wedding, Incha'Allah.
Hi from missouri😊 Try to find Moroccan Argan Oil. I love it and it really works for nails, hair, and skin in general. A great beauty product from Moracco. 💖
Interesting video, thank you! Cereal: In many countries outside the US, cereal is mostly for kids. That's why you'll mostly find chocolate cereals etc. around Europe. Ice cubes: Especially in the hottest months of the year, ice cubes can be a source of stomach flues. So it's actually a good thing if ice cubes are not big in hot countries.
Try an art supply store. I came for an art tour a couple of years ago, and they had all kinds of paper notebooks. Lined, graph (like you had there), plain, and even heavy watercolor cotton papers. It can be expensive in those stores, even in Morocco. 😊
9:24 Butter weight is written on every package here it's --> 100g = 3,5 onces If you cook it's probably usefull to buy a scale, you might even find one that has both onces and grammes in Morocco if you don't Google is your friend
Hi Erin, interesting video. I used to buy Monterey cheese when we were still in the US. Could not find it anywhere since, not just in Morocco. Indeed items are different depending where you live, where you shop. But you will eventually get used to it and find alternatives. That's what I do wherever I am 😉 Best to you and the kids 😊❤
The sheep's are for Eid only, like America supermarkets stocking up with turkeys for thanksgiving and christmas. No gallon sized milk or any other juices in Morocco at all, I too looked for lined and plain notepads, but it seems there are none available.
Thanksgiving is actually a Pagan celebration they are thanking a pagan God or Goddess for the fall harvest as the Pagan Romans used to do, in contrast, Eid Al Adha is a sacrifice for Allah subhanuh wa talla and that was started by the great prophet Ibraheem Salt Allah alayh and followed by all prophets after him including prophet Issa and Mohammed Salat Allah Alayhm, this sacrifice is lined with hajj who do their own sacrifice in Maccah, it can be from any of the four kinds of Annam (cattle) (sheep, Goats, Cow, Camel) as ordained by Allah subhanuh wa talla.
We don’t have milk in gallons because it may be considered wasteful, and as Moroccans, we prefer everything fresh. Also, I believe in Morocco, they don’t add too many chemicals to the milk. Try checking the expiration dates for milk in Morocco; you will find that it only lasts 2 to 3 days. However, in the USA, you can find milk that lasts for a whole week or more.
I like this video, it gives you ideas. We actually never felt the need for a big bottle of milk and cereal in breakfast is not a thing here nor is oatmeal unless you workout and you follow a western diet where they recommend oatmeal a lot because we have here Balboula (the soup you drink in breakfast) and it's much healthier. For the measurements, you can use google like I do sometimes. Just tape "from pound to grams" or "teaspoon in grams" and you will get the converter, then use an electronic scale to measure it out.
about gallons of milk, actually in Morocco we have a "hanout" culture, so in order to buy everyday products such as bread and milk, we go to the convenience store almost everyday, so we don't buy bigger quantities
plus, the ones in the refrigerators are fresh so they go bad within 2 to 3 days maximum, that's why you always see the suppliers every morning in the hanout, they bring fresh milk everyday in small sizes for everyday use
Yeah milk is not really being used excessively in our kitchen on Daly basis so it comes in a litre or half a litre container just get a pack of 6 cartons and that I'll do you for a few days I find the jawda one really good And Marjane is your best shot when it comes to super markets and that s where I get my sheep for aid as well love guys ❤❤❤
1 Cup of Butter is 227 grams. I'm a Canadian Foods teacher so I have to know both metric and Imperial as we commonly use American Recipes here, but the stores sell everything in metric.
Hi Erin, with regards to not being able to find pain killers or basic medicine at stores, that is because of the powerful pharmaceutical lobbies in Morocco. However, the good thing about pharmacies in Morocco is that, with the exception of controlled substance drugs, you can get any medicine without prescriptions, and in most cities, there are always some pharmacies that are open 24 hours. Here in the US, I can't even get antibiotics without prescription.
From my experience, you can find lined notebooks in big stores that sell only books and office supplies. Ask for their premium leather-covered notebooks. These are usually lined because they are outsourced from outside Morocco. Keep in mind that prices vary a lot, and you can expect to pay between 100 and 300 MAD.
Same with me , when I travel abroad, I can’t find green mint tea, msemen or nice pastries, by the way, there is iced coffee in Morocco, probably not in Tmara, but I’m sure you’ll find it in other cities because it’s my daughter’s favourite, and for the note book, you need to go to shops that sells all school supplies, also cheddar cheese is English cheese but not Moroccan, so don’t be surprised if you can’t find
You can find ice cafe in same cafe just ask Plate you can find in marjane or normal shops Galon of milk not popular because we like fresh milk the brings the milk every 3 day But you can find big one likne 1 litr 1*6 litr which mine 6 litre
Welcome to Morocco. The products that you only found a few of, is this because they are not used by many people in Morocco or for things that the majority of people in Morocco use, you will find them very useful.❤❤❤
Last thing you wanna do is compare US grocery items selections and choices to any country let alone Morocco. Maybe Canada but definitely not Morocco. Different culture different needs. Would suggest making some adjustments. Ftoor = breakfast Iftar = breaking fast during Ramadan
We don't buy notebooks from supermarket, U can find everything in the library. For milk we don't have gallons because our consumption pattern is very different from the United States, we prefer to buy milk every day because once it's opened it becomes rotten. In the United States u can open a gallon and it remains in good condition because it is full of additives.
In europe have an idea that in USA everything is bigger. Even in many european countries its hard to find milk in gallons. Usually they re 1 - 1,5l max. I think cuz morocco originally has hanoot culture. People go daily to hanoot to get small portions fresh. Notebooks do exist but in local book stores. But anyways when people from europe visit USA they all say everyth was bigger. Meals and portions are bigger. Buildings are bigger. Cars are bigger.
U can go to lehri…that’s where u will find measurement butter n also less prices than the big markets It’s called LEHRI it’s sort of like a deli store but with big amount of products n all measure way except the things n wrapped or in boxes whatever…
Over the counter meds are only sold in pharmacies. I'm sure you have noticed that there's a pharmacy in every corner. That way a pharmacist can tell you which OTC you need +:any precautionary advice. Typically only the young generation like cold or iced drinks for obvious reasons. Make coffee then let it cool and add ice cubes afterwards.
Erin, I’m so happy for you and I’m just wandering which school your kids going to American school or just regular one and thank you, I’m asking because I’m thinking to move out over there
How are you, my beautiful lady? How are your children? I really don’t care about TH-cam, but I love watching you and your children and how you imagine the Kingdom of Morocco. Thank you. In fact, you will not find everything in Morocco because your country, America, is a very large and rich country, but Morocco is an ordinary country and is trying to be the best. I wish you happiness, I love your children, I love you too, and I know what American women are like. They are spontaneous, kind, and lovable. May God be with you and your children. I wish you health and prosperity.
if i have one brand to recommand in cereals in morocco, it will be lion (caramel and chocolat) the best for me personnally, or maybe crunch for extra texture and taste good too (and a little tip about how moroccan eat cereal, we heat milk with a little bit of sugar before adding it to cereal)
I am very happy that you like living in Morocco, but you have to remember that we still have the French system because Morocco used to be French colony, and your question about iced coffee I think you're going to have hard time finding it, us Moroccan people we drink everything hot 🔥 except sodas and juices, I have been living in Florida for 28years and I have never tired iced coffee neither iced tea, I wish the best in Morocco.❤
I am moroccan and I am a huge fan of iced coffee, especially caramel flavored coffee and I usually get mine at CARIBOU coffee in Hay Riad next to Carrefour Gourmet ( you can find it easily in google maps and it's new), for me it's way better than Starbucks's or Dunkin Donuts. But nowadays, you'll find decent iced coffee in so many coffees, you can ask them to put more ice because iced coffee here is usually served only as cold coffee ( like juice temparture coffee haha )
The issues you raise are right. you find things in USA and the UK but not in Morocco and vice versa. Still, we try to adapt nd that is what you are doing ! Well done Erin!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Hello I'm a Moroccan lives in Paris and I was born in Rabat hassan so I know where you can found your donuts in the other side of Rabat in Salé marina 😊😊
I see that some products found in America and not found in Morocco, is that in America there’s all that variety of products most imported from all over the world, but in Morocco almost all products are locally produced.
I’m a jersey girl married to a Moroccan and I was laughing about the paper plates. He gets offended if I serve him food on a paper plate. Thanks for making this video. The first time I went to Marjane I was freaking out because the milk wasn’t refrigerated 😂
The world is moving towards preserving the environment, so plastic and paper waste must be reduced to preserve forests, and this must be taught to children. Using glass dishes is healthy and beneficial for the environment
Morocco has a surplus in vegies and fruits, but does not have enough diary products. In Europe it is the opposite. The USA is the only country in the world where one can buy pain killer from a regular store, or find a pharmacy inside a grocery store selling all sort of things, including cigarettes. And finally, once you get used to weight in metric system (Liters, Grams and Kilos is what you need), the noisy confusion with the pound, table spoon, gallon, Ounce, etc... will evaporate.
Moroccan breakfasts don't typically include cereal so no need for that much milk + no such thing as cookies and milk (we drink tea or juice with cookies) + only a little milk is needed to make the latte most people have if they're not having tea.
june 16th is my husband birthday now i will never forget your come to morocco anniversary 😅😅😅 i tried donuts in casablanca try The Twins (التوأم) it's a bakery in casablanaca they have the best donuts i ve ever tried .. i dont know if they are the American way or the way you are use to .. but for me they are the best ... if you want a gallon of milk you can buy it from local peaple fresh milk and as múch as you want just like butter milk .... for the sheeps they are all male 😅😅😅 we do the sacrifice it s nessesary needs to be a male never a female ❤❤❤
You can get any amount of butter. I am talking about my city, Tangier, There may be a difference depending on the cities. You will know a lot about Morocco, With the passage of time ❤
Gallons are used only in USA even for gasoline it’s gallons but in Morocco we don’t use gallons we use Litres. Actually USA measurements are different : you use Fahrenheit we use degree Celsius, you use miles, we use kilometers, you use inches, we use centimeters…
What are some things that I missed?
Every supermarket and souk have sheeps before aïd
Weapon
Hot weather, fouod must be refrigerated, big freezers, electricity
Do they have Slenda? Neutral Sweet?
Buy spoon measurers and kitchen scale from Jumia. They deliver.

You love ❤️ Morocco 🇲🇦 ………we love you too
We don’t have milk in gallons because it may be considered wasteful, and as Moroccans, we prefer everything fresh. Also, I believe in Morocco, they don’t add too many chemicals to the milk. Try checking the expiration dates for milk in Morocco; you will find that it only lasts 2 to 3 days. However, in the USA, you can find milk that lasts for a whole week or more.
The Cafés 🍵 ☕️ In Morocco 🇲🇦 look very very very Cool 😎, My Brothers And Sisters, And My Friend Erin.
Yeah milk is not really being used excessively in our kitchen on Daly basis so it comes in a litre or half a litre container just get a pack of 6 cartons and that I'll do you for a few days I find the jawda one really good
And Marjane is your best shot when it comes to super markets and that s where I get my sheep for aid as well love guys ❤❤❤
We wish you good health and happiness for you and your family in every way❤️❤️❤️

Wow expensive
Same with me , when I travel abroad, I can’t find green mint tea, msemen or nice pastries, by the way, there is iced coffee in Morocco, probably not in Tmara, but I’m sure you’ll find it in other cities because it’s my daughter’s favourite, and for the note book, you need to go to shops that sells all school supplies, also cheddar cheese is English cheese but not Moroccan, so don’t be surprised if you can’t find
You can find ice cafe in same cafe just ask
Plate you can find in marjane or normal shops
Galon of milk not popular because we like fresh milk the brings the milk every 3 day
But you can find big one likne 1 litr
1*6 litr which mine 6 litre
Welcome to Morocco. The products that you only found a few of, is this because they are not used by many people in Morocco or for things that the majority of people in Morocco use, you will find them very useful.❤❤❤
Last thing you wanna do is compare US grocery items selections and choices to any country let alone Morocco. Maybe Canada but definitely not Morocco. Different culture different needs. Would suggest making some adjustments.
Ftoor = breakfast
Iftar = breaking fast during Ramadan
You could buy a kitchen weighing scale to measure your butter.
That’s my plan
بالتوفيق
ON THE BUTTER YOU CAN find that's 100g which is a 1/5lb.
you can just buy a scale
You are right. I have the same idea.
The notebooks you are looking for can be found in bookstores and also in supermarkets
Morocco 🇲🇦❤️
People are bigger. 🤣🤣
@@momof4vlogs Fatter more like. Bigger people are found in Holland and Scandinavia!
@@momof4vlogs hhhhhhhhhhh
You can buy lined notebooks in the Hanout in your neighborhood, not necessary in supermarkets
U can go to lehri…that’s where u will find measurement butter n also less prices than the big markets
It’s called LEHRI it’s sort of like a deli store but with big amount of products n all measure way except the things n wrapped or in boxes whatever…
I wish you to visit Agadir city on the Eid day , we are celebrating on the streets
Erin, I’m so happy for you and I’m just wandering which school your kids going to American school or just regular one and thank you, I’m asking because I’m thinking to move out over there
I’m looking at a Canadian and a British one will pick one soon Inchallah
شكرا ليك أختي إيرين
You always show us and talk about food now that I m in the usa for vacation I understand why american people are obsessed with food !!!
عند اشتراء اضحية العيد ستحسين بفرحة عارمة خصوصا عندما يبداُ الشواء 😊😊😊😊😊 اتمنی لكي حياة سعيدة مع اولادكي بالمغرب ،

In marakkech u can find a café only with all kinds of cerals. It s great for the kids.
if i have one brand to recommand in cereals in morocco, it will be lion (caramel and chocolat) the best for me personnally, or maybe crunch for extra texture and taste good too (and a little tip about how moroccan eat cereal, we heat milk with a little bit of sugar before adding it to cereal)
Found great iced coffee temara. Dahab cafe
Sheep are mainly sold in Marjan and Carrefour during Eid time
I am moroccan and I am a huge fan of iced coffee, especially caramel flavored coffee and I usually get mine at CARIBOU coffee in Hay Riad next to Carrefour Gourmet ( you can find it easily in google maps and it's new), for me it's way better than Starbucks's or Dunkin Donuts. But nowadays, you'll find decent iced coffee in so many coffees, you can ask them to put more ice because iced coffee here is usually served only as cold coffee ( like juice temparture coffee haha )
I know if it but I have yet to go there! Will try it soon
For iced coffee, try Café Dahab in Rabat or Temara!
Going there now thank you!
You can get ice coffe in all international Coffeshops such as cafeino, Starbucks, amorino ...
You have right
For ice you can get it on marjane for example or any super market
If you slaughter a sheep in Eid, then you are Moroccan through and through. I salute your willingness to embrace the local culture.
It is not a culture. It is a religion. She is a religious muslim. She practises islam.
تحياتي ليك أختي إيرين
U can get it in Rabat as well as icetee at the American club next to the us ambassy/navy
I see that some products found in America and not found in Morocco, is that in America there’s all that variety of products most imported from all over the world, but in Morocco almost all products are locally produced.
if you buy 4 bottles of 1 liter, you will get 1 gallon more or less
in europe, people buy 1 pack of 6 bottles if they have kids
I’m a jersey girl married to a Moroccan and I was laughing about the paper plates. He gets offended if I serve him food on a paper plate. Thanks for making this video. The first time I went to Marjane I was freaking out because the milk wasn’t refrigerated 😂
Omg so much is different here but I would never go back to the US I love it here 🇲🇦❤️
The world is moving towards preserving the environment, so plastic and paper waste must be reduced to preserve forests, and this must be taught to children.
Atakadao has bulk sized things and Kool Smoothie has iced coffee ❤
You can get ice coffee at Starbucks and McDonald's as well
Hello Erin
I love you so much ❤❤❤
Moroccan breakfasts don't typically include cereal so no need for that much milk + no such thing as cookies and milk (we drink tea or juice with cookies) + only a little milk is needed to make the latte most people have if they're not having tea.
I encourage you, say hello to Yoyo ✨😉
شكرا لكم اصدقاءي على هذا المحتوى الجيد 😅😊😅

You look gorgeous dont worry things is gonna be all right
You can get any amount of butter. I am talking about my city, Tangier, There may be a difference depending on the cities.
You will know a lot about Morocco,
With the passage of time ❤
Gallons are used only in USA even for gasoline it’s gallons but in Morocco we don’t use gallons we use Litres. Actually USA measurements are different : you use Fahrenheit we use degree Celsius, you use miles, we use kilometers, you use inches, we use centimeters…
