So happy I came across this video so I was more informed when buying new glasses. I'm really happy with my 1.74 high index lenses and it was worth the premium cost.

They are also harder to clean, i barely touch my glasses or my hair touches it and they get dirty. And the fiber clothes leave a huge film on them. Switching back to standard

So true i was thinking always why my new glasses are getting dirty so quickly 😂

You can get a coating put on them to protect your glasses

I’m not going to lie, index talk always stresses me out😭. I never know what I should get, because only one of my eyes is worse off with the astigmatism . What diopter is considered strong? Is it anything over +/- 3? And if one’s Rx has prism in it, does then impact which index should be considered as well? My current Rx is below, with a .50 with “in” Horizontal Prism:
    OD: (SPH) +0.50; -1.25 (cyl)
    OS: (SPH) +1.00; -3.25 (cyl)
I’m just not sure what is even right. There’s so much talk about aberrations. And overall seems like a medium & system that is imperfect. So many people deal with discomfort & there’s way too many nuances to that. It’s stressful.

I’ve found that there is more chromatic aberration with the cheaper poly. So much so that it is unusable.

That is true for some people, absolutely! There is a term that exists when troubleshooting that just about every opticians knows that we call "poly non-adapt". There are some people that just can't deal with the distortion. Have you tried Trivex? All the impact resistance with much better optics!

Hello. I am -4.50, I have normally used 1.60 lenses but now I wanted a large and metallic frame (thin) and I was thinking of choosing the 1.74 index so that my lenses are not so noticeable in this frame. But, the abbe value of the 1.74 lenses is much lower (32) than the abbe value of the 1.60 lenses (41), so I fear having worse visual quality and chromatic aberrations with high index lenses. What do you recommend me? Do you think the difference between these two abbe values will be very noticeable in the vision?

Good question! If it's mostly sphere strength and there's little or no cylinder power, then you will likely notice little change between the 2 materials. This is speculative, of course, and depends on your sensitivity to changes in lens material. The good news is that if you order from SportRx and find you don't like the lenses, you have 45 days to start a remake to a different material OR get a full refund. If you have questions or need help placing an order, give our opticians a call! 877.289.2999

I recently ordered my first pair of eyeglasses online, and I got the highest index one at 1.7 something, and I noticed that my peripheral view was not as sharp and noticeably more distorted than my other pair of glasses that I got from the Optometrist, which I believe are maybe a high index of 1.6 something. I guess choosing the High Index really depends on the strength of your prescription. My eyes are -3.25 and -3.50, and the high index of 1.6 is the best for that range, for the best balance of cosmetic look, comfort (lighter weight than standard index), and visual quality. If you have a very high prescription, maybe getting the thinnest and most high-index lenses are a better balance.

High index lenses don't reduce distortion of your eyes for minification or near sightedness.

Really?…it doesn’t reduce how small your eyes will look with a higher prescription?…. Please I honestly need a reply because this is the main reason why I’m getting it…and its quite pricy than the normal one where I am … I’m -6/-6.5
