    Nice one for being the only guide to mention how much you have to tap the key at first. Every other guide just says "feather the key" and doesn't explain by how much. I'm finding you have to make your keypress as short as humanly possible when finding the general area - as in so fast it cuts the sound effect off. Allows you to get about 9 or 10 taps out of an advanced lockpick before they break vs 3 if you hold the key down for too long.
    One comment I have as someone currently struggling through learning lockpicking is I think I'd disagree with not using the advanced lockpick for practicing but only at the very start. Otherwise there is too much stopping and starting while trying to get a feel for how big the zone is and how much you should feather your keystrokes.
    I would however agree that this is useful advise once you've crossed that step and you can start practicing as if it's a real scenario.
    Also to any noobs out there, if you hop into Single Player you can spawn the lockpicks, practice board and screwdriver by entering the following commands in chat: #SpawnItem Lockpick_AdvancedItem, #SpawnItem Improvised_Lockpick, #SpawnItem_LockpickingBoard, #SpawnItem_Screwdriver.

    It's simple to explain lockpicking, keep trying and trying, eventually you will get the "feeling". Great video man! Literally just keep trying and trying. ALWAYS practice with bobby pin + gloves unless you don't know the sweet spots, then practice with advanced without gloves.

      @@drgrant1532 As a game dev I can't help but feel this is a bad mechanic if you need to buy an expensive keyboard to engage with it. I tried practicing for a full 8 hours and didn't improve my lockpicking on basic locks, even after watching half a dozen videos on the subject. I can almost feel my keyboard is having an impact too. It's horribly laggy and unresponsive. Needing ridiculous workarounds like staring at the floor and reducing your render scale also indicates to me a poor mechanic that requires tribal knowledge to participate. Having parts of the game gated behind such mechanics is not a good thing.

      @@Super-id7bq You dont need a good keyboard to do it, sure a good keyboard helps, but thats the same as having a better PC gives you more frames. Its not a bad mechanic, its really good. I think for the iron lock picture you used was the rusty lock which is easier than the iron to 😅😅 um maybe it's ok but someone can get confused who's is new to game . I started lockpicking... And i usually practice with that yellow gloves ik about iron and silver ... But for gold i was bit using the advance lockpick with medical gloves becoz i thought let's get some idea how to feather ... Properly in gold ones ... Is it good ? I may switch to Bobby and start practice with it ... 😅😅 And for sensitivity i really don't know what's my mouse dpi ;-; becoz it's cheap mouse and has no softwares so i can change the sensitivity i kept my in game sensitivity to 20 for now um idk if it's good but i can pick silver and iron with them .

    the REAL lock picking guide is grind a backpack full of lockpicks and screwdrivers and just throw them at the lock till you get lucky. no one claiming to be "skilled" at this mechanic is being honest with you. you have like 160 MILISECONDS of time before even the advanced lockpick breaks, you cannot reasonably "search" for the sweet spot without a macro that lets go of the f key the second theres any sort of resistance so that you only spend 5 miliseconds or so on it each "bump" .
    the average human reaction time is 250ms btw. anyone who claims to be able to adjust with measured intent to the lock binding is lying to you. by the time your brain can reasonably react to the knowledge that your lock is binding, the pick has broken already.
    so yeah, just throw picks at the locks. thats how the pros ACTUALLY do it when they aren't making a scripted, edited youtube video that don't ever show you their inventory when picking locks in world (or just use the practice lock so they dont need to look like they have 500 attempts worth of lockpicks in their back since the practice lock is infinite).

    • @drgrant1532
      @drgrant1532  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      After reading your comment it sounds like you have never lock picked before. The stats you bring are incorrect. Lock pick definitely requires skill. If it was all luck then anybody could do it. And for stupid comment about scripted video, I lock pick in every stream I do and also in almost every video I do. It’s video on how to lock pick and how you can practice it. Why would go to a random base to lock pick and waste my screwdriver just to show people how to lock pick.
      You absolutely have no clue what you are talking about lol
