- Welcome back for another Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon Season 2 video. In this video, I will be talking about what might happen in House of the Dragon's Season 2 finale. George R.R. Martin already told us the truth about Ser Otto Hightower's death, in Fire and Blood, Volume 1. During episode 6 of House of the Dragon, Aemond Targaryen asked Ser Larys Strong to fetch his grandfather, Ser Otto Hightower. Prince Aemond wants to have Ser Otto Hightower reinstated as Hand of the King. Otto will eventually travel to Tyrosh, where he will have a meeting with the High Council of the Triarchy. According to Fire and Blood, they accepted his offer of alliance. This will result in the Triarchy sending 90 ships into the Gullet to face House Velaryon's fleet. Rhaenyra and Daemon will take King's Landing after Prince Aemond and Ser Criston Cole leave for Harrenhal. After Rhaenyra Targaryen takes the city and the Iron Throne, she will bring justice to her enemies in King's Landing. Ser Otto Hightower will be the first of the traitors who are dealt with. Six, if you count Lord Stark, who is going to strategically swoop in just as the whole war is coming to an end, and basically mend everything back together again. At least in the book that's what he does. lol

They better do this justice on the show. This is such an epic moment in the book. I really hope to see the taking of Kings Landing exactly the same way as the book describes it.
Rhys Ifans is a powerhouse and I have a feeling Otto’s death is being changed. He’s been absent most season and I think he’ll be used to introduce Dearon. I hope he’s around longer anyway, Rhys Ifans is the GOAT.
Imo the introduction of Daeron has to be in the citadel, surrounded by friends and in the company of Vaegon

They will change things up and the fall of Kings landing will be the end for the season. You will see Rhaenyra walking into the throne room when the screen will cut to black
I think it might be changed, and Otto survive for a while longer. They seemed to be hinting at a bit of a Young Griff situation, and having Otto act as a guide to Prince Daeron.
Nah but you're half right. Since they have faced budget cuts they have merged season 2 with season 3 (RIP to any amazing footage that has been already shot). This means Otto's demise happens in Season 3 episode 1. Otto will plead with Team Black to jump on their side but will be rejected. Only one person will be spared.

So, about Aegon; from the way Larys interacted with him in the latest episode in his bed; I have a feeling that he'll be the one sneaking Aegon out of the Red Keep, or King's Landing while Rhaenyra takes the Iron Throne. As to where they'd be hiding, I guess we'll find out in the next season. I could be wrong, because I'm not a book reader.

We don't find out where Aegon is hiding until close to the ending of the "dance" part of the dance of dragons. There's plenty that happens in the aftermath, but who knows how far the show is going to take the book and how much of it they're changing. I agree with you that it's likely Larys that helps Aegon sneak away from what they show in the series, but the book didn't specify how he evaded, only that the blacks took King's Landing to find Aegon gone IIRC.

I need to do a reread of just the dance because really the regency interests me more as does the first part of the book like the initial conquest and all of that history like the first I ever read of the dance was the princess and the queen. But I mean, he expanded on that a lot lol.

@@Anbu_Sampathin the book Daemon spends a year at harrenhall which is nearly half the entire war. He has only spent roughly a month there in the show. You should be thanking the writers for making his time at harrenhall at least 10 times shorter than in the books!
@@Britishtheatre2 episodes is plenty speaking that there's multiple ways they could end it, with the dragons arriving at KL, or Otto getting beheaded, or rhaenyra sitting the throne. It doesn't take more than 1 episode for any of that, which is why the episodes before would be the set up.

Otto betrayed his king and usurped his throne in order to secure his legacy and, in a way, he did. He became the go-to example of how NOT to act as Hand of the King and all the good work he did do was overshadowed by his later actions so he's remembered as little more than an overmighty, ambitious, grasping snake.
It will probably end with Rhaeyra sitting on the iron throne, then cutting to either her palm bleeding or Aegon being smuggled away.

it would be interesting to get an easter egg of bran / crows watching history unfold.
I reckon Otto will return to Kings Landing in episode 8 and assure Alicent that everything will be okay only for Rhaenyra and Daemon to attack. After they've captured the keep I hope Otto begs for the life of his daughter showing his true nature as a good man before Daemon executes him. It'll make his death quite tragic and hint at the ruthlessness of Rhaenyra going forward.
Otto Hightower is not a good man lol, hes a big part of causing the civil war all so his own blood will be on the throne.

Otto hightower I wish was able to live at least until the pentultimate episode of the final season. Looks like that might not happen unless they stay clear of the books when it comes to this character from here on out

Maybe because we only have 8 episodes this season, we will only see Daemon bend his knee to Rhaenyra and together they will stand to rally their Riverland forces. I think the season will end with Sheepstealer, Silverwing, and Vermithor getting their riders.
I think Otto take the place of Hobert (I think) in the books when it comes to his death to kind of show that at the end of the day Otto had ideals and would not support Ulf and the other dude
This is my theory as well. I think the season 2 finale will be the breaking of the blockade in the gullet and the death of a certain prominent character (going by the books at least).
I would think Rhaenyra sitting on the iron throne would be the last shot, though I agree it might feel a bit rushed. What else could it be at this point?

The Fall of King's Landing will be the final episode. Larys will save Aegon. Otto will probably be beheaded, because he is the architect of the coup in Rhaenyra's eyes and was always against her. And what would he do if he was imprisoned and survived for the final season? That's what I think.

As far as I know, there's no evidence that the Battle of the Gullet or Rhaneyra's King's Landing seize will be in the final episode. Which makes me really wonder what the finale will be about. They need two banger final episodes if they want casual fans to wait two more years. We're getting the sowing of the seeds and the other on ground wars, but what else?

Sunfyre is not dead. Cole said he left a garrison of men to guard both the castle and the King's Dragon. He said "Sunfyre was long in the dying" meaning the dragon was taking too much time to die so he could not wait anymore and just left him, thinking it surely would die sooner or later, but we know that against all odds, Sunfyre does recovers enough to move and even fly again. Rhaenyra, or the poeple that got the information for her probably had the same wrong information as Cole.

Lary's Bees should have told him that Aemond has a dislike for Strongs. Harrenhall should be clinging to Daemon for security even though he is acting crazy.
Lary's Bees don't have access to Aemonds thoughts. Any public outburst towards House Strong is known by Lary's. It's not possible he is unaware of Aemond calling Lule and Jace bastards before they took his eye, he was in Driftmark when it happened. He also has to know about Aemonds taunts at the dinner table. Aemond even asked Lary's how he can trust him when he first became regent. Lary's knows Aemond doesn't like the Strongs.

She did not live much longer after taking throne, she took the throne, helena commits suicide, small folks start killing dragons. Then she goes to dragon stone and dies.

I think it will be amazing and horrifying if Daemon hesitates to execute Otto (after realizing that Otto was always right about him) but Rhaenyra had it, takes Dark Sister from Daemon, and executes Otto herself. Daemon becomes horrified at the monster he created.

Honestly, I wish I never read the books. Although some things will be different, knowing (mostly) what's going to happen isn't fun at all.
This season was WAYYY too short. Not enough time for many storylines. I thought we would see more about the dragon seeds, more of Daemon gathering the army-what is with so many nightmares. There was a richer story to tell and I feel cheated.

Normally, spot on. Not so much this one. Otto was dismissed after he made Aegon feel small, insufficient, and less than. Otto disrespected someone with a, justifiably, inferiority complex. If he wasn't his Grandfather, Otto probably would have the same fate as Blood.

I think what the show is saying vis-a-vis the reliability of the source material is that one version is the church’s take, another is the intellectual elite’s take, and the third is a perverted fool’s take. None of these versions will be necessarily honest in their depictions of females. So perhaps none of the versions are completely accurate. Dates of births, deaths, (obvious) transfers of power: those can be pinned to a map of sorts, but the how and why we got there may vary according to your starting viewpoints. *cough*
