Nice job doing the walk in and the loop. Isn’t the Alpine Route an absolute Gem? I’ve done it 3 times now and my absolute favourite was in a cold September (2018?) when there was a 4” snowfall. Absolutely magical and I had the trail pretty much to myself!
The Alpine Route was indeed a gem, especially all those different colored lakes. The snow must have added a whole new look to it, do you have pictures? I'll have to get out there later in the season next time.
@@travel2walk Yes I do! I sent a few to your email addy from your website. Hope you get there in the snow someday, even more spectacular! BTW- it was Sept 23 2017 when I did the loop in a first of the season snow.
@@vistaww Wow, thanks for sharing the pictures. The trail looks so different and as you mentioned, the Larch trees already looks so nicely contrasted with the snow. Does the hut get easier to book when it gets to that point in the season? Or does it became first come first serve?
travel2walk As I go solo I just kept an eye on the Alpine Canada Hut availability calendar and, quite often, 1 or 2 spots will open up within 2 weeks of the night. Not this year of course as the whole hut needs to be booked by one group. The hut is much easier to plan then tenting if you’re only doing a 1 or 2 night quick trip and can deal with the sharing of space. Liz Parker has the small hut so I usually try to get a spot in there and then I’m fine with ear plugs, eye mask and sleeping pill!
@@vistaww Thanks for the info, we were mainly keeping an eye out for a camp spots and Lake O'Hara was the only one we didn't have much luck with on our road trip. I'm glad they finally moved that online now, so will be easier to monitor both in the future.
hi there, nice video! i am planning to head here around mid-sept. was wondering what time you guys started and what time you got back or did you camp? was there already people when you started as well? thank you in advance!
Hi Jose, last year we started around 7am and we caught the bus out at 4:30pm. However the bus isn't running this year in or out. I wish we could have camped there, but it was full whenever we checked last year. For 2020, the camping reservations finally moved online so you can check to see if there are any openings. But again, the bus isn't running this year so you'll have to walk in and out.
