  • Zelda jazz covers are great. Especially ones in 7/4 time. Here's my take on the Dark World theme from Link to the Past! Insaneintherainmusic's jazz cover / remix of Dark World from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

    I am so excited for Breath of the Wild. I am so excited for the Nintendo Switch. AAAAH. I'm a huge mobile gamer these days, so the idea of playing games like The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild on the go is just AMAZING to me - really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these bad boys! Let's hope A Link to the Past comes to Virtual Console...
    I wanted to do another Legend of Zelda cover to help transition out of the Wii covers I've been doing (Mii Channel and Wii Shop were received so well - thank you so much!), and I thought the Dark World theme would be a great candidate! I was really inspired by a Victor Wooten tune called 2 Timers off his album Palmystery, which switches back and forth between 4/4 and 7/4!
    Thanks to my Patreon supporters, I was able to hire an editor for this video! Big thanks to SunderCR for editing the majority of this video and saving me a lot of time :)

    A lot of people who cover songs in different styles (I.e. jazz) tend to go overboard with changing the song to the point that it's hardly recognizable. Others keep it entirely unchanged without adding any originality to it.
    But you? You strike that perfect balance. Keep it up!

    Always wondered why the Dark World theme sounded so upbeat when it was the ruined Sacred Realm, but now this cover's got me wanting a futuristic noir Zelda where Link's a detective tasked with traveling to the underbelly of the multilayered and highly sophisticated Hyrule City to retrieve a stolen part of a planned new electric generator from the Dragmire Gang.
    ...
    I swear, I didn't even really try to think of that, it just came into my head all at once.

    • @TainoMoya

      Greatlord Shadox Someone did something like this I think last year, in retrospect it was a cool idea but I don't think they executed it very well but I guess there's always room for improvement.

    • @GreatlordShadox
      @GreatlordShadox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Honestly, I don't see it being that great of an idea as just a _Zelda_ game. I feel it would probably be better if you just took inspiration for the designs and character personalities, but did your own thing with it so it could feel right.

    • @desplanchesstevan1418
      @desplanchesstevan1418 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It will be hard to explain (Eng' isn't my native language..), but there is a kind of theory about the games which will follow TWW, PH and ST line : We leaved Hyrule, change a sailing ship for one with a "motor", and then a train.
      This can show that the game will follow can take place in an "industrial" world. Plus, there is no "divinity", godess or something mystical in ST, no Ganondorf, only a "Link" not linked to the prophety anyway.(No Demise descendant, the curse ended in TWW, 'cauz Ganondorf is sealed in the submerged Hyrule)
      What you sayed made me think of this, and I wanted to share it. This is kind of interesting.
      This could be so original and refreashing for a Zelda's game to change litteraly his type of world.. ;P

    • @GreatlordShadox
      @GreatlordShadox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hadn't thought of that. Come to think of it, I suppose it really _could_ be used for that timeline, hundreds of years in the future. Either way, it doesn't really seem like a concept that they'd use, as it errs more towards sci-fi, whereas they've been doing a cool technological fantasy thing - and it works really well! Looking forward to Breath of the Wild and future games to see what they do with it, that's for sure!
      Might I ask what your native language is, though? Your last sentence makes me think it might be French, but since that's the only language I've completed classes for (though I'm in a Japanese class now), I might just be biased. ;)

I can't wait to upgrade my Martin Committee III though, but right now I am staying with it till I have money. Request:
    Could you use brass players more often???? As a trumpet player i would love to hear some trumpets and trombones on these arrangements.

      I'd like to, but collaborations are particularly difficult to do in under a week. Trumpets and trombones would be nice, I'd like to have them too, but they'd have to be an occasional element.

    This song exudes malice and fear.
    Or at least it's supposed to.
    But you make it sound like Link's on a mission, rather than faced with a huge conflict. This whole song was perfect, and I am am so excited to see what's next in terms of Zelda music.
    Here's to that hopeful Breath of the Wild album, my dude.
