In this video, we're going to be looking the Victron Cerbo GX to see if it's worth the money you pay for it. Obviously if you have a full Victron system, the Cerbo adds a lot of value but if you just have an MPPT and Smart Shunt, is it worth the money? Do you get much benefit from it?

Hopefully you can do a video on ways to add more VE direct cable options. The cerbo GX only has 3. I'm running 3 x 100/30 MPPTS, 1x Smart shunt, 1X Orion XS 50 DCDC, which all require VE direct. It's seems I need to purchase 2 x USB to VE direct from Victron, the expense keeps adding up.
More VE DIRECT ports are needed in the cerbo.
I see the octo GX may be the better option If I hadn't purchased the cerbo GX.

Another consideration if you like me, I don't need sensors as I'm using inverter/batteries/solar as a home backup power system so I opted to use the Cerbo "S" GX without a screen and just use PC or mobile phone to monitor. That keeps initial investment down and a screen can be added later if desired.

You don't require a screen as long as your Cerbo has BT and or network connection. You can "monitor" your system on iOS or OS X systems. And if your Cerbo has access to Micro SD card slot, you can download system upgrades automatically and get upgrades.

I need some time to get unit set up right .. I like the extra data information too.. That seems a bit too complicated but maybe it's not and I just think it is. 🙂

Great review. I've just installed a Cerbo GX and Touch 50 in my motorhome. Although its expensive, I think it is well worth the money especially the VRM access. What water gauge have you fitted as the ability to tell exactly how much water is very useful. What are you using for the LPG level. I've got two 11Kg Gaslow cylinders.

Cerbo-GX doesn't cost £500. It Costs about £250 or less.

Yeah, but then you need a GX Touch, which gets the price close to £500. 👍🏼

No. It's too much money and it actually works against mppt, if not setup correctly.
